Ignoring the financial part of the schooling, yeah, I can do all that. But there's just other things involved that make me think I just can't.
Well as important as that part is (like 80% of it) I'm curious as to why you think you can't.
It's just mainly phobia stuff. Like, I have extreme trypanophobia, and even though I wouldn't be using anything on myself, I'd still get really sick and afraid of anything I'd have to use for any of the animals. It just wouldn't work out, and obviously end up being a huge waste of money and schooling if I tried.

I used to want to be an author, then I realized I can't write to save my life.
That never stopped Dan Brown. Stop being such a quitter, get out there and write horrible, formulaic tripe that is an affront to the written word.

I wanted to be a vet... and I am, almost. 1 year left, thank god we Brits can do it as an undergrad degree.
Seriously? Fuck that would be nice.

How are you enjoying the schooling?

Not that I want to run it in but... it's brilliant! It's really hard work, not like doctors who only learn about one species we have to learn about every species, but it'll pay off in the end. I love working with animals and can't really see myself doing anything else, wanted to be a vet since I was about 7.

A word of encouragement: If you have the grades (and the money), you could always do a vet degree in the UK with no need to do the previous degree needed in the states. And as all UK vet schools are AVMA acredited you'll only need to sit the NAVLE to practice in the state of your choice.

I wanted to be a paleontologist, until I found out that I had to take Pre-Calculus. I am not skilled at math and I utterly failed in my attempts to actually take Pre-Cal.

Hmm... that kinda sucks, being scared of medical procedures preventing you from getting your dream job. I was half expecting you to say a fear of [insert scary animal name here], which you would have a right to refuse to see.

Hmm, that would be a problem. Bt if a fear is what is holding you back then you might just have to be prepared to walk into the gates of hell and get over that fear. I'm not sure how severe your fear is but you could likely overcome it. I just say this because it would be a shame to see somebody not realize the job they want just because they were afraid.

Thats really cool, good to hear that your enjoying it. What kind of practice do you want to eventually start? Large animal, small animal, Equine etc.

Hmm, my family does have quite the amount of money, I'll just see if a degree over there is valid over here. Because I know my personal trainer is a massage therapist and her training over in the UK wasn't good enough here, so she has to learn it again here. Even though she is fully certified over the pond.

I wanted to be a lawyer, but then realised that the lectures would put me to sleep.

That didn't go well...

A doctor, before I realised they ask you to be superhuman. Top grades, extra curricular activity of a high degree, plenty of work experience, and a very particular set of subject requirements.

I actually want to work with exotic animals, particularly zoo species and reptiles, I'm also interested in conservation medicine. Did have a summer job in reptile department at Edinburgh Zoo a couple of years ago and I've done a placement with a wildlife vet on a game reserve in South Africa.

It helps to have some experience of seeing vet practice to get in, but most places seem to be willing to overlook that in favour of overseas students because you give them/they chrage you more money than us.

Thats pretty cool. In South Africa? Damn skippy, I'm jelous :)

Yeah, you guys like us because we don't know how much post secondary is really worth, and they take advantage of it :p. But yeah, I'll seriously look into that, because when I went to London for the March break I really liked it. Everybody was so welcoming and charming. If I could go over there for school I would very a very very very happy camper. But now to checking if your certificate is good enough for us Kanucks.
