No. I'm not willing to take a bullet in the ass for my country.

As for American military, I don't see any need to fight for an imperialist nation that uses Socialist as a synonym for demon.
While I agree that people seem to have a completely inaccurate definition for Socialist over here, when you call the US an "Imperialist Nation" you sound like Soviet propaganda.
No, the Empire totally had elections. The guy who died at the end of Return of the Jedi wasn't really Palpatine, he just grabbed the ceremonial exposed cables until his face was just as messed up.

We are imperialist. We control many territories around the world and occupy them with military force. While we are not taking any new territories in our current wars, we are still a military empire. Rome didn't expand during the pax romana, but it was still imperialist due to its continued occupation.

like others have said, do something where you will gain a skill usable outside of the military. for example, tell them you want to be a helicopter pilot (this is just an example) and they might make an effort to get you into flight lessons because you are interested. then, when you get out of the military, you could get a job flying a corporate helicopter or possibly doing work for television and movies. the big thing though, is to search for things they can have you do and find one that interests you. that way, you could actually enjoy taking that skill to the next level so it could be used outside of the military. a family member of mine was a Radio-controlled aircraft enthusiast, and he started flying unmanned aerial drones. he is considering working for the CIA when he leaves and being a drone pilot for them. just find something you like and stick with it! in the military, you learn valuable lessons in teamwork, foreign cultures, self-defense, and an unrivaled sense of self-confidence.

good luck.

Unincorporated organized territories
Guam 1950-
Northern Mariana Islands (commonwealth) 1978-
Puerto Rico (commonwealth) 1952-
United States Virgin Islands 1927-

Unincorporated unorganized territories

Islands in South Pacific
American Samoa, self-governing under a constitution last revised in 1967
Wake Island, inhabited by civilian contractors only
Midway Islands, inhabited by caretakers
Johnston Atoll, uninhabited
Baker Island, uninhabited
Howland Island, uninhabited
Jarvis Island, uninhabited
Kingman Reef, uninhabited

Islands in Americas
Bajo Nuevo Bank, uninhabited (claimed by Colombia and Jamaica)
Serranilla Bank, uninhabited (claimed by Colombia)
Navassa Island, uninhabited (claimed by Haiti)

these are all of our territories currently held. the majority of them are uninhabited. the ones that are inhabited are self-governed and rely on us to provide stability. small, resource-deficient islands are hardly able to sustain themselves without the aid of a superpower. they rely on tourism mostly from japan, and money from the US military to survive. if we left the center of their economy would collapse.

as for puerto rico, we pretty much stay out of their business and are considering making them a state.

By that logic many of those European nations are imperialist as well since many of them hold territories.

Many European nations are imperialist. Not all, but many such as France and Britain are.

you dont have to go to the frontlines. you could be stationed somewhere in europe or eastern asia. military doctors are pretty much everywhere. as for a scout sniper, you would probably be stationed in the middle east, but the spiders and scorpians arent that bad.

I'm thinking about the U.S. Air Force... not totally 100% yet though.
the air force is great if you are into science or technology. they work heavily with those types of things, and you go through an air force science academy. they work in protecting us from cyber threats, airborne threats, and other various other types as well. you could work on aircraft, work in the dining areas, work in telecommunications, be a systems analyst, etc.

I personally wouldn't join. I physically can't anyway. Not would I be scared shitless of fighting in a war, but my knees don't go the right way, and my entire rib cage is shifted out of place, so it makes it really hard for me to breathe sometimes. Plus, in general, I just have way too many physical issues for them to accept me.

The only way I'd ever "fight for my country", is as a guerilla insurgent against occupying forces if my country was invaded. There's no way I'm going to go off and die in some remote far off place for it. I'm just not very patriotic. That and the whole military discipline thing wouldn't really mesh well with me.

Good for you, though. If that's what you want to do then go for it.

Me? In the army? Hell no.

Because:

1. The pay isn't equal to what you do.

2. I have other things in mind besides joining the military.

3. I hate conflicts.

4. I'm "lazy".

Not the Army, but I did contemplate becoming a United States Marine. It is still a backup option actually if things do not continue to go well, for now however Private Investigation/Police Department are on my priority list.

I'd join the army if there was either an evil going on in another country that must not be allowed to continue, or if my country were directly under attack.

Good luck with the workouts.
