The downside is that it's a show I was showing interest in and wanted to check out, and now it's ended.

The upside is that Whedon claims he's learned from this, and perhaps this will take him down a peg in some respect (this is more to do with bitterness from his comic series hijacking).

With the kind of fan support firefly got from the browncoats, I bet fox is sad thay forced Mr Whedon to keep doing buffy and angel by cancelling Firefly.
If Dollhouse gets that kind of support then I think Mr Whedon might be cut some slack in the future.

The guy that played victor was absolutely an amazing actor. If he would have been the lead, I think it would have been a much more successful show.
If you haven't seen any of the stuff from the second season where he temporarily gets imprinted with a copy of Topher, go find some clips on YouTube or something; he's nearly a perfect mimic of how Fran Kranz plays him. It's kind of unnerving how well he can pull it off. I'd definitely like to see him doing more stuff after this.

Good. Dollhouse was a lacklustre series whose "twists" I fucking saw a mile away. I have not started S2 yet but I am only doing it out of a sense of obligation to Joss.
Heres a tip, ditch those fuckwits at FOX and go with a decent network who are not known for picking up pilots of good shows then deciding not to go with it but keep it trapped so other networks can't make them. The cunts. Then stick with what you do best. Humourous shows.
Ahh I would love to see some of his shit on like HBO where he can do whatever he pleases without censors fucking it up.
And here's a tip for Whedon fans: Ditch the guy. He's had more "Executive Meddling" ruin his stuff than is plausible. Sometimes the executives cut off your show or mess with your movie because it's bad, Mr. Whedon, not because "they're out to get you". I do get tired of Whedon blaming the failures of his shows and movies on other people. Time to take some personal accountability for your crappy Aliens: Resurrection script and the fact that Dollhouse was boring and flat.

Really though, I saw some Dollhouse and was thoroughly unimpressed. The only thing I've really liked from Whedon is Firefly, which is awesome, but I think part of the awesomeness of Firefly was Ben Edlund (SPOOON!).

Why the hell does Whedon keep going back to Fox? He comes up with great stuff, most notably Firefly (in my opinion anyway), and then they keep cancelling his shows? Fox obviously don't appreciate him, so why doesn't he just take his work to another big network like ABC, NBC, PBS (no, scratch that last one...), or the like? Somewhere where he's more likely to get some decent support and whatnot...
Fox was very good to Joss with Dollhouse. They gave him a new show after his last one flopped (and even after the movie that was supposed to vindicate him underperformed), let him try out a fairly out-there concept, and even gave him a second season even after poor ratings. Bottom line: Dollhouse didn't perform. No other network is going to keep his show on the air when it isn't pulling in ratings.

And, quite frankly, Joss Whedon has a seriously problem with always blaming other people for his poor writing/decisions which his fans should NOT be enabling. Every show has to deal with network executives. Part of being a good writer is being able to take ideas and changes that the network wants but you don't think are ideal and making them work at least well enough to not ruin the show. Simply put, Dollhouse has no excuses for some of the terrible writing it had.

The only reason going to Fox was a mistake for Whedon is because, simply put, he can't play on that level; not even Buffy had the ratings to be a hit by Fox's standards. His shows have small audiences, and he should be on a cable network where he can get away with it.
Exactly my point (about Whedon not being able to cope effectively with other peoples' ideas). Being a good writer means accepting constructive criticism and changing elements that someone thinks don't work well. If one person thinks your story is flat and dull, there's a good chance others will too, especially if the first person deals with scripts and writing for TV. The fans need to stop supporting Joss when he legitimately makes a mistake. By the previous statement of "supporting" I mean "show rabid and unreasonable devotion to".

Thanks! I'll check it out! Fran Kranz was quite good himself.

[HEADING=2]HEROES WILL NOT DIE[/HEADING]

Don't get me wrong, I want Heroes to continue and get better so it can end THIS SEASON with dignity, but they never, EVER should have made a second season

I didn't watch a single episode. I guess that makes me part of the problem.
