"What? Actually what?" Gabriel asked frantically, looking from Seth to Fei and Drew walking ahead of them. Panic seized him, brought on by the Pyromancer's choice of sentences and given center stage with his final word. What did he mean, 'forced into a position'? That sounded scary coming from an older mage, one who was most likely far more powerful than he was. Gabe wasn't sure that he liked where Seth was going with this.

"I don't know what you mean. Is there something you aren't telling me?" Gabe asked, careful not to sound as if he were making a demand of Seth. He noticed that he had begun to sweat a little under his robe: a combination of the sun's heat and his own panic, probably. Again he looked to Fei and Drew to check that they hadn't overheard... though that was getting less and less likely given the subject of the conversation between himself and Seth.

Nydia's pace slowed slightly as the conversation took a turn that she had not expected. Although Nydia did not consider herself to be particularly old, she did recall that a few of the others who would be going seemed to be younger than the rest of the group. "Yes, I'm certain they are all capable mages, but I can understand your concern..." Nydia said as she walked and continued to listen to what Cindy had to say.

Before long, the two had arrived at the gate Nydia would need to use to exit the Academy and head to her family's estate. She stopped there as she didn't want to make Cindy follow her out of the Academy, and turned to give her answer. It didn't require much thought really, she hadn't even heard the request yet and couldn't imagine Cindy asking her to do anything she would not agree with. "Of course I will hear your request, Master Rotunz. Tell me what you'd like me to do and I will do everything in my power to see that it is done."

As they continued their walk, Seth decided that the distance between themselves and Fei was a little too far. Besides, Gabriel might actually try to struggle away from him, which he couldn't have happening if he decided to try and force them to actually speak to one another.

"Never mind. I think I will try something else later." Seth said finally, seeming to come to a decision for the moment.

"I would imagine that you need a little push in order to start speaking with the girls, and I get the feeling that Fei would be a great place for you to start! So I'm just going to have to work out a way for you two to get chatting. Or mostly you chatting, actually. Fei won't have any problem talking to you."

Seth began planning things out again, wondering if perhaps notes would be the answer. He was actually more of a fan of the direct approach, which would probably be quite a bit easier, and possibly much more success. Maybe on the walk back they would be a little closer since they wouldn't be having a private discussion.

Yeah.....that would work out quite nicely. I'll have to probably get Drew in on this, but I think it should work, and he won't have any objections. If not, I'll just have to be a little bit more tricky about it.

Cindy nodded, stopping as well, now realizing that Nydia was going to see her father outside of the Academy, and felt slightly rushed, but needed to let Nydia know her concerns.

"Simply, I think someone needs to watch over these students, and make sure they understand the risks of showing their gifts to other peoples. That, and need to make sure they do not take on a task bigger than they are. I realize that they are not of your elements, and that there are other older individuals coming along, but I would prefer to make sure you specifically know about what is going on, rather than hope someone will help them if they start doing something silly or foolish." Cindy explained, hoping to end things as quickly as possible so that Nydia could make her way home.

"How you go about this, I really can't say myself. Being a bigger sister, watching out for them, and possibly stopping them from doing things sounds like a major task, but I am confident in your abilities and your mind to be able to handle anything of the sort." Cindy continued, finishing her thoughts while glancing about a bit to see if she could spot someone else.

"I understand if you would rather not do this, as it is quite the odd request. However, I think that you are well suited to the task, and would hope you at least would consider it."

It was not an unreasonable nor an unexpected request given what they had just been discussing. And while Nydia had no experience being a "bigger sister" as Cindy had put it, the fact that a Master was entrusting her with this task meant that she must be at least somewhat suited to it. "Well... I must admit, this will be a bit of a new experience for me. But if you truly believe that I am capable of this task, then I will do my best to keep them safe." Nydia replied with a small smile. Though tasks of such a social nature were not her strong point, being relied upon by a Master was a great honor for her.

And it's not as if I'll be alone in such a task. Master Rotunz seems to be looking for someone else to speak with about this, and Seth seems like the older brother type already.

Gabriel looked sideways at Seth, thinking over the idea of just himself and Fei talking. But he knew he couldn't talk to her, he had tried. Not a single word left his mouth in the presence of a girl around his age, ever. Every time he simply froze up; the words never got further than his mind. Many, many times he had wished that he could say just one sentence to someone, but: 'if wishes were fishes there would be no room in the seas for the water,' as the saying went.

"I dunno, Seth... I just can't speak to girls at all. I can speak to other people perfectly fine, even if there's someone I can't talk to in the same group. But if I were to try to talk to Fei, right now, I couldn't do it," he explained. "There's just something... I dunno what stops me, but it's there, and I don't think it's going away any time soon."

Finally they arrived in Oublie, and Fei made a beeline for the coast. Drew and Fei's parents had a house right next to the docks, since they had to sail in and out of the city frequently. The house itself wasn't enormous since it wasn't on an estate, but it was pretty sizable. Their father came out to meet them as soon as they came in the gate.

"Drew, Fei! We weren't expecting to see you so soon!" Their father was a sailor before he was a merchant, and in fact was still more of a sailor. It was their mother that handled all the buying and selling. He was tall, with tanned skin, brown hair, and deep, blue eyes like his children. "You should have told us!" he laughed. "We would have cleaned out all the rooms. I see you brought friends..." He raised an eyebrow in good humor. It wasn't often that the aloof Drew or shy Fei brought visitors.

Drew hugged his father. He wasn't the most social person, but family was very important to him. "These are a couple friends from the academy. This is Seth and the other one is... well, he's one of Fei's friends." he gestured to the two of them. "Look, we ain't gonna be here that long, just thought we'd drop by. So where's mum?" he sat down on the nearest seat, gesturing for Gabe and Seth to take another seat.

Cindy nodded, obviously satisfied with the answer for the moment. Before beginning to walk off though, she spoke again.

"A fair warning, Nydia. You do not simply be a big sister. It has to happen as such. It probably doesn't make much sense now, but I imagine that it will when the time comes. Good luck, and have a nice visit with your family." Cindy said, and with that, walked along back to the Academy, leaving Nydia at the gates.

[hr]

Seth grinned, obviously pleased with himself and already having a bunch of ideas rolling around to perhaps fix this little issue. As Gabriel spoke, his expression did not change in the slightest.

"No worries Gabe. I have a distinct feeling that I will be able to do something to get you to speak to her. I can only wonder how you will react when I do make you speak to her. It is going to be some sort of legend or something when you do, and you will probably....heh...Well, you will see." Seth said, noting that Fei and Drew's father had come out to greet them.

Upon seeing the gesture from Drew, he calmly walked over and took a seat near Drew, not really sure how to present himself as he was introduced. Despite having come to the city multiple times, he had not made a habit of visiting random persons, and wouldn't know that this was their father in the first place.

"A pleasure, sir." Seth said, managing as best he could.

The house was filled with souvenirs from different lands: from the ceiling was a large snake skeleton, on the tables were jeweled sculptures and settings, on the walls were dresses, suits, and robes. "It's nice to see that they have some friends." he joked. "As for your mother..." He looked to the stairs, a smile lingering on his face. "Katriana! Your children are here!"

A couple minutes later a petite woman flew down the stairs, crushing Fei in a hug. "Oh, Fei, Drew, my children! I haven't seen you in so long, you must come around more often!" She had an elegant accent. It was clear where the two got their height from, Katriana was short, with wavy black hair and gold eyes. "Are you okay? Eating well?" She pinched Fei's cheeks. "You're getting to be so beautiful," she beamed. "You should stay here with us, I have so many nice dresses and jewelry I've gotten for you..."
"Really?" Fei's eyes were sparkling. "Can I see them? Are they in my room?" If there was one thing her mother used to keep her around longer, it was presents.

Seth's words worried Gabe. The Pyromancer clearly had some plan in mind to help him with his social problem, but the words he had used were particularly troubling. Almost as if Seth would throw him into the deep end of a pool... an odd analogy, since both Gabe and Fei were Hydromancers. Nonetheless, Gabe resolved to be on his guard around Seth in case he set his plan into motion when the younger mage was unprepared.

Upon arriving at the house in Oublie, Gabriel gave a deft, short bow to the man who was clearly the father of Drew and Fei following the short exchange. He entered the house with the others, casting an eye about the place as he took a seat opposite Seth. He turned to the man of the house to introduce himself.

"An introduction would not go amiss: my name is Gabriel Westmar. I am a Hydromancer, with similar abilities to those of Fei," Gabe said, calm and confident in the presence of the non-magical people in the room.

"Some things never change..." he chuckled as he saw Fei leave. "So what's been going on here recently? Any interesting news?" Drew turned to his father, wondering how things had been in Oublie.

"Ah, nothing new. We've been getting good business, the seas have been calm... only thing we have to worry about are you and your sister." There were few walls in the house, so they were able to watch him as he went over to the kitchen area, looking for something to offer the guests. "You get the last package we sent you? Figured you would like another relic to disassemble. We got it from another merchant who was selling a small armory... maybe you want to go see if he has more?" There was more noise as he moved pots and pans out of the way. "Ah, we have just enough ingredients here for dinner. You'll be staying to eat with your old parents, won't you?" he grinned.

As Seth listened, he found himself quickly running the numbers in his head as to how much they could afford. He knew well enough that the one guard wanted them back somewhat early, noon at the latest. It was a bit of a walk here. Nothing too long, fortunately, but....doing that early morning might be a bit much. Still, it seemed they would have to. Maybe some horses would be in order?

Seth stood, and after contemplating a moment, tugged on Gabriel as well. He had a plan, and while it was a little early, he might as well give it a shot now. Maybe things would be better for it.

"C'mon. We should go see Fei's new toys. She can't take all of them on the trip, I'm sure. So she might as well enjoy them now." Seth said, turning towards were Fei and Katriana had wandered off to, and proceeded to follow. Besides, this sounded somewhat like father-son business, and Seth knew better than to stick around for that.

Well, this is going to possibly be horribly direct and sloppy...I sure hope tomorrow doesn't follow suit.

Nydia tilted her head slightly, somewhat puzzled by Cindy's parting words. She was right, it didn't make much sense now but Nydia would have plenty of time to think about it. "I see... Thank you for the advice. And farewell Master Rotunz." Nydia said, bowing to Cindy as she left. Nydia figured farewell it was the proper choice of words since it was uncertain when the two of them would meet again.

After Cindy had vanished from sight, Nydia turned and walked through the gates towards her family estate. "Alright, time to see how my father and Joffrey are doing. Although, I suppose not much has changed in the last day or so."

As the mages continued their activities, visits, and family tasks, time passed by rather quickly for the Academy. Faster than one could blink, it seemed that the night had come and gone, and that it was now time to make the appointment, or be left behind at the academy never knowing what was to happen on the trip through the sky. So, around the late morning time, the group of mages had arrived at the large Airship that was beginning to spin, and a bustle was now going on around the ship and crews as they undid the anchor ropes, got the propellers spinning and working properly, and making sure everything and everyone was accounted for. Some glanced at the mages nearby who got closer than the others, as many mages had awakened early to see the leaving mages off, and to watch the strange visitors leaving in their strange ships.

With the families of those who were able nearby to see their leaving sons and daughters off, it was a somewhat awkward scene for many. While mages leaving wasn't a terribly rare happening, the movement of mages onto airships which none others had been on before was quite the feat.

Even the Masters, some normally busy making sure the Academy is running properly and students are performing their duties and getting ready for classes, all also made the appearance at the Airship as it began to ready to take off. They all seemed to watch many things, but what seemed to be a constant source of being watched were the few students who were very soon going to be leaving for an undisclosed amount of time, doing a task which wasn't trusted to be with many others, to a place that was much farther away to ride than it was to fly.

With many of the guards now on the ships and the crew ready to go, it was time to get on and get going with whatever bags that had been packed, items they deemed to take with them, and any possible pets that might be coming along for the ride.

Clearly, this was a moment of completion. A time where the Academy was going to be left behind, and the outside world would be seen and explored. It was time to go.

Fei was holding her brother's sleeve nervously. It was one thing to think about leaving, another to actually have to step into the large ship. It reminded her of the ships she used to see when she lived with her parents, except it traveled in air instead of water. The bag she brought contained little more than a stash of sweets and a few of the newer dresses and robes she had.

"I'm scared Drew..."

Aden walked boldly towards the airship, showing no signs of the anxiety gnawing at his soul. He had brought little on this venture - the clothes on his back, and a small bag containing essentials - Jolen's Elemental Interactions, Popael's Unbound Inferno, and a blank book along with ink and a pen for writing. He'd considered bringing weapons, but that seemed folly - he was the weapon.

He could hear the nervous whisper of one of the young mages going on the journey, talking to her friend or maybe brother. The thought ran through his mind to say something to comfort her, but then again given his reputation and his hideous burned visage, he'd probably just freak her out more. He stepped up, beginning to board the ship, not giving the Humans the courtesy of even looking at them.

"You know I'm not going to let anything bad happen to you.." he tried to act calm and collected for Fei. He was interested in the ship, but he knew that would have to wait. He started looking around for anyone else who might have been going on the voyage with them.

The pack on Gabriel's back felt fairly heavy. It held a few changes of clothes and a couple of small personal items, as well as four of his classes' textbooks and some writing paper. The latter was present because he felt that just because he was away from the Academy, it didn't mean he could ease up on his studies. The young Hydromancer was only at Mage level; there was a lot ahead of him in terms of both education, magical potential and advancement up the ranks.

As he approached the airship, walking out into the open ground before it, Gabriel felt a surge of nervousness flow through him... he suddenly realised he felt sick. This was considerably different from the Academy's usual goings-on, and he didn't even know how he was going to help with the Prime Minister's unexplained task. He shot a look around the crowds to see if his family had responded to the message he had sent... he couldn't see them. Gabe's face fell. They hadn't even shown up to see him go.

Gabriel caught Drew's eye as he got closer, and nodded politely to him, unsure whether to join him and Fei. For the moment, he simply adjusted the weight of the pack on his back, casually walking over but stopping short of actually joining the two of them.

"The ship is so big... Oh look, it's Gabriel!" Still holding her brother's sleeve she waved frantically at Gabriel. "Gabriel! Gaaabrieeel! Over here!" She was excited to see him, still looking around for Seth as well. "Hi. Are you feeling better? You looked pretty sick last night at dinner. Mommy said you were throwing up in the bathroom. I'm sorry." she grinned, a smile still plastered to her face.

"Are you feeling better?"
