Gabriel's somewhat high spirits fell as Fei called out to him and skipped over. He wasn't sure he wanted to deal with her one-on-one, especially after the night before when he had made a fool of himself in front of the others. If Fei and Drew hadn't known about his social problem, they would at least be suspicious of something by now, he reasoned. He had to do something to try to get over it... but there was a more pressing matter at present, in the form of Gabriel's fellow Hydromancer.

So Fei wanted to learn to work with ice... that was something Gabe had yet to delve into himself. Ice manipulation was in the more advanced section of one of the textbooks Gabe had brought with him: he hadn't planned on trying any of it, since he was still struggling to control even plain, simple water for extended periods of time.

It took Gabriel a moment to respond to Fei; speaking to her, of course, was out of the question. He simply shook his head in answer to her question. Not for the first time he mentally kicked himself for his impediment: an explanation would have been much better than a simple 'no'.

Drew just seemed to go from room to room, almost nothing managing to hold his attention. Finally, he reached the engine room, and he found himself staring at it for a while. He walked slowly up to it, taking a minute to examine the machinery. He let out a low-pitched whistle, looking closer at it. "Hopefully our hosts don't mind me taking a look at this..."

Fei held her chin in her hand, grinning. "No? You can't even say no? You know you haven't said a single thing to me, ever. Not even in class. What's wrong? nevermind, you can't answer me that either can you? You're weird. Come on. You're going to practice with me. You don't have to talk to help me, right? Right." She went into what she assumed was his room, nosing around his stuff briefly. "It's too small in here. We should go to the top deck and see if they don't have space there."

Aaron quietly nodded to Alexander as he asked what the plans were. Looking about for a moment, he seemed to come to a decision as it seemed he recognized that everyone was on board.

"Well, there is going to be something I want to discuss with all of you. It will be...quite important. but I want to make sure everyone is all settled in first." Aaron said, suddenly looking past Alexander.

"HEY! Everything secure? GOOD! Lets get this show on the road!" Aaron shouted to one of the crew members, who quickly rushed off to one of the sections of the airship further ahead.

"Not sure what your experiences are, my good mage. But you might want to hold on to something."

Seth had noted that he was sure he recognized one other student who had come onto the ship. Someone else who actually carried a weapon much like himself. He had seen her wandering about from time to time, but he was no archer. He could be, but it really didn't sit well with him. However, his attention was to where he saw the wandering Gabriel, and also Fei trying to start a conversation.

I better help the poor kid out....and ask him about that whole getting horribly ill when speaking to girls. Kind of important information that he failed to tell me.

"Howdy Fei! Gabe! How are you two doing? I think we are going to be taking off shortly...." Seth said, trying to help out Gabriel as he seemed to hesitate. Course, he would have to get him to a more private setting in order to talk about such things.

"And are you trying to get in trouble already? While that is usually my job, I'm not sure if I would recommend doing it while we are going into the sky."

[hr]

"OI! You there! You one of the guest people that are hanging about?" A man with a pair of mechanical arms had approached Drew, seeming slightly annoyed as other workers continued to stream about working on things, shoveling in some coal into a few furnaces, and others checking some pipes and gears as they all seemed to begin working at a much higher rate. The room itself was getting somewhat hotter as everything got to working.

"Ain't safe in here, so I would recommend you be on your way doing....whatever it is you do!" The man with metal arms then turned to another of his workers, and seemed to get even more irritated.

"HEY! DON'T OVERCOOK THAT! DAMNED MAN, YOU BEEN DOING THIS FOR MONTHS, SO ACT LIKE IT!"

"Oh, hi Seth!" Fei turned her attention away from Gabriel. "We're not getting in trouble. I just want Gabriel to practice with me! But he won't talk to me. He doesn't think I'm bad does he?" she seemed to be genuinely hurt, although you could never be too sure with hydromancers in general.

"I haven't done anything bad to him right? I gave him candy and things too..."

Seth's arrival was considerably beneficial to Gabriel: he was embarrassing himself by not speaking to Fei when it was just the two of them. The Pyromancer, however, solved this problem for him, and he immediately began to capitalise on it.

"Nothing wrong here, Seth. Fei appears to have roped me into some practice, though. She wants to learn to work with ice," he explained... then he trailed off for a second. An amazing idea had just struck him, one that was pure, unrefined genius: why hadn't he thought of it before? He could speak to Fei indirectly, as long as there was someone there to talk to. At that moment, Seth filled that role.

"I'm not sure I'll be of much help, though, as ice magic is in the more advanced sections of the Hydromancers' textbooks. I haven't tried any of it myself," he continued, feeling his confidence increase as he focused on Seth rather than Fei, the latter of the two being the intended recipient of his explanation.

Raven finally made her way to the massive airship, through the throng of people gathered around to see the "lucky" chosen off to this strange land. She slowly ascended up the ramp, it looked like final preparations were being made. Fun. This close to missing the trip and being stuck here. Maybe I can just parachute off or something over some water. Get it all over with. She gave a barely noticeable nod to the soldier stationed at the door and after getting some directions headed below deck to stash her belongings.

"Uh huh....Well, I don't think practicing on the ship that we are about to take off in is such a great idea when we don't know what exactly is important. Hate for you guys to freeze something that is kind of necessary. Though, I understand that we are going to be taking off soon, if the soldier keeps his timing right." Seth said, largely to the both of them.

"But you don't need to worry Fei, Gabriel here just is extremely shy. He really likes you and loves the treats and stuff you give him. I just need to discuss some stuff privately with him is all. So he probably seems kinda funny cause he isn't sure what to do. Don't worry though, good ol' Seth is going to get him over that so you two can chat about all sorts of things."

Well, that should hopefully clear a few things up for her. I get the very distinct feeling I am going to be doing a lot of....what is it called? Middleman stuff. I think that works.

Seth also noted as Raven had made her way onto the ship as well. He was about to wave but stopped himself, and instead gave her a small nod. He called more than enough attention to her as it was. Didn't need to make it any worse for her.

"So you can talk to Seth, but you can't talk to me?!" she pouted and pushed him a little. "You need to try and do some ice magic. Maybe it's easier to do with two people? We need to try it! And don't worry Seth." she stuck her tongue out again. "It's not like we can explode something or anything like that. This ship should be waterproof anyways! Or else they wouldn't be able to fly it in the rain. The last time I tried to freeze water, the only thing that happened was that Drew got soaked. In cold water. You don't mind that, right Gabriel? You shouldn't. I can see why you wouldn't want to be soaked though, Seth, cause you practice in the rain. Are you going to fight with the guards again? Can I watch?"

It only took a few moments to ready his stay in his cabin. The room was bare but that didn't mean that he couldn't do anything with it. Cale took his clothes from his pack and laid it next to his bed in a neat fashion but that did little to contain his excitement. Soon Cale was up and he pushed open the door. He decided a walk around the airship was best. Cale could hear the chatter of the other passengers amid the alien sounds of machinery.

He walked the corridor to see the same students he saw in the library. If they were here then most likely Nydia would be here too.

Phebe stood up again from where she had been sitting on the floor. She noticed that her room had a window. It didn't interest her that much. She had been told to go with the airship, but she wasn't exactly clear on why just yet.

She decided to take a walk around the ship, to see what it looked like and maybe find someone who knew more than she did. Phebe opened the door to her room and checked the hallway. She could hear noises. She wasn't sure what it was, but she wasn't even sure how this airship was supposed to be able to fly to begin with.

She turned left and began walking the hallways, making sure to remember how to get back.

Seth couldn't help but laugh. It seemed as if Fei completely missed what he had said, and took off speaking faster than this ship could probably fly. Course, he couldn't blame her. She had a task now, which was to get Gabriel to talk. That could only be more hilarious than his attempts at it.

"Nah, I don't think I am going to try that till we are back on the ground. And I don't think it is a good idea for you to be trying to form blocks of ice on this thing. We don't know what it can handle, or what we shouldn't hold fire to, or try messing with, or anything like that." Seth explained, suddenly noting someone familiar in the hall.

....What is that on his face? It looks like someone gave him a beauty mark or something? I am going to have to ask him about that! So many people, so little time.

"Course, maybe you should meet some of the random individuals who are coming along as well. Especially if we are all apparently in this together. Besides, some of them are entertaining enough, and may be able to teach you something! But for now, I think I am going to the upper decks, and see the people as we all take off. Hope you'll join me."

And with that, Seth quickly began to walk back up to the upper deck area, walking towards Cale, and giving him a wide grin. He wasn't sure if he had noticed it yet, and didn't feel like being the one to ruin the surprise.

"Going to see what its like to lift off and watch." Seth said quickly, going up the steps.

Aaron looked over the ship, walking about as if he were the most important thing on the ship. As he did so, the engines and ship began to move, and he proceeded to shout to the troops to be ready. He wanted to make sure they didn't mess up leaving, or else he imagined this Academy would never forget it. And likely never let them forget it if they dared return.

And ever so slowly, the Airship began to rise. They had to do this slowly, as here there wasn't really much room for error with all the students nearby and about. They needed to go right up, and then begin moving northward, across the water and much of the land to the city.

"And....here we go." Aaron muttered to himself as they began.

Drew had been standing there for a couple minutes when the machinery in front of him roared to life. He stepped back, but then returned to where he was before. He took a while to examine all the moving parts, all the connected contraptions, all the devices that made the ship fly. "Amazing..." he put his hand on one of the few places he was sure nothing would happen, feeling the machine hum on his fingertips. He could feel a slight surge, similar to the lightning that he had used before. "So they use electricity to power this? How in the world did they manage to do that?"

Gabriel stumbled a little when Fei lightly pushed him. It was true enough that he couldn't talk to her... and now that she knew that for certain, she was probably going to exploit that fact. Gabe didn't like to think about that... it was just going to be one awkward situation after another, and he doubted that Fei would tire of it if she was entertained the first time.

He then turned his thoughts to Fei wanting to try ice magic with his help. Even freezing a small amount of water was beyond his abilities as a Hydromancer. Fei's note about getting soaked wasn't a problem for him: he liked getting caught in the rain, and a water-related mishap as a result of a spell seemed like a nice way to cool off in the sun. Seth, being a Pyro, would think otherwise, of course.

Gabe hesitated to follow Seth when he left; meeting new people was all well and good, but... what was that shaking underfoot? Were they - ? No. They couldn't be. But then, it was what the ship was designed for... There was only one way to find out. Staggering a little due to the motion of the airship, Gabriel hurried into his room and stared out the window, his face close to the glass to get a decent look. Yes, the ship was in fact moving, straight upwards... they were flying. The thought amazed him, as he had never encountered such things before.

Having picked out one of the rooms near the far end of the hall for herself, Raven was in no hurry to start socializing with the other members of this excursion. She plunked her bag on top of the generic looking bed and moved towards the small window, overlooking the Academy and the crowd who seemed to back away from the large ship, though they still occupied the field.

That's right. Start abandoning. Never have to see any of the poor bastards on here again. As she was busy resenting her soon to be former classmates, it didn't occur to Raven that they would be backing off to avoid the firing of the ship's engines. She was unprepared for the rumbling and fell back away from the window, landing on her bed with a thud. The thrumming noise was unsettling, it was loud, and it was the signal that this was it. She forced herself against the gravity pushing her down and got back to the window. The people below were turning into small specks as the land got farther away.

"Whoa," Raven commented to herself as she kept looking out the window. Then a small smile spread across her face. Look at them all, down there like ants. I could crush them right now. That would be great....Maybe if I can get a hold of some of this stuff these humans have concocted...Maybe I wouldn't even need my powers for revenge. I could just crush them instead. Yes...that could work. This new thought kept Raven occupied as the airship continued its climb into the atmosphere.

Alexander went back into his room and sat on the bed as the ship started to take off, looking out the nearby window. He would wait until after this talk to begin exploring a bit. For now though seeing everything in a new way was exciting enough to him.

"Closer to the sun than I could ever imagine." He said quietly to himself as he watched the ship begin to rise.

"Let's just hope this doesn't end like the stories." He said with a laugh as he fell back onto the bed, starting to listen to the sounds of voices coming from the other rooms. At least those who weren't being all that quiet.

Phebe wasn't prepared when the ship started moving and she almost lost her balance. She put her hand against the wall to steady herself. She had been traveling by ship before, but then it had been over the sea and not through the air.

Phebe wondered if this ship had a deck and if she were allowed up there. It must be quite the view. She started looking for a way up and continued walking.

As Nydia was looking around her room, the sudden lurch of the ship moving startled her and she almost fell over. Once she had regained her balance, she went to go look out the window to get a good view. "Hmm... I don't think this will be a good spot to look from. Perhaps I should go up on the deck and get a better look." Nydia muttered to herself as she left her room and went to find a better view. As she did, she noticed Seth heading for some stairs, presumably for the same reason, and followed after him.

She was too slow and lost sight of him though, but she was surprised to run into Cale on the way. "Oh! Good day to you Cale!" She said with a bright smile and her usual bow. "Isn't this exciting? We're flying! Only two days ago, I never even dreamed that I'd be flying on an airship like this!" Her smile continued to get even brighter as she spoke about it. This was truly one of the most exciting moments of her life.

"I've never dreamed the day we would fly either! This is what the Aero's must feel, huh?" When the craft first took off it jostled him against the wall. Even with his muscle, it did nothing to help him as he had to put his hands to the wall to prevent from falling.

The sudden appearance of Nydia put a comfortable light to his demeanor. "When did you get here?" Cale said as the churning of the machines could be heard.

The ground started to rumble under her feet, and she freaked out a little. The highest she had been off the ground was a few inches, and even then it was when her brother was using his magic. Drew and Seth had already left, so she jumped onto the next closest person she knew: Gabriel.

"Aaaah we're flying!" she shrieked, clinging to his sleeve. "We're going to fall out of the sky and crash into the ooooceaan..." Since this was her first time being in an airship, she was genuinely worried and scared, more freaked out by the view out of the window than the movement itself.
