Here is hoping they get someone other than Bethesda to write the game. Like Obsidian.
+1 to this thought.

OT: that'd be pretty sweet, i'll definitely have to pay more attention to this once it uncoils.

So, here's hoping it's actually post-apocalyptic, unlike the last one.
True dat. NV felt nothing like living in a post-apocalyptic setting, especially with a city like vegas still intacted (somehow).

Oh, and sorry to disappoint obsidian fans, but Bethesda is developing Fallout 4. Deal with it. ;)
And I'm glad. I liked the story of Fallout 3 better than lolimgunnahuntdownthedudethatshotme.

Just because part of something is in a game, doesnt mean its cannon. It means they changed it.

Your opinion. Just like it's my opinion that Fallout 3 spits in the face of the canon. I prefer modified versions of dead games to a game that forced mandatory sacrifice on you despite having a radiation resistant party member.

Thank god for broken steel
Just because part of something is integrated into something else, doesnt make the original thing cannon.

Boston would be great but I'm still kind of in shock that they did DC/ the DC Metro area for 3 as that's where I've lived for about 23 years of my 24 year life. I've never been to Boston but any big, Sandbox game taking place away from New York City is always plus for me. Nothing against the big apple of course it's just been done a lot.

As for Fallout lore on the whole, I think (or thought) the main narrative began in the west coast US (L.A. California). Boston would be great, especially if it felt like Fallout 3. New Vegas was a ton of fun but it felt too clean and, advanced to be a post apocalypse: more of a western set in a fucked up modern day what with the working lights and televisions.

I still wish Van Buren happened. The plot is still canon as a prequel to New Vegas, but actually playing it would be great
Van Buren's plot is neither canon, nor a prequel to New Vegas.

Van Burn had its plot stripped apart, then scattered into pieces in New Vegas and its DLC.
The Brotherhood of Steel war with the NCR, Joshua Graham's pre Burned Man days, and Caesar's Legion were all set to appear in the game. So parts of Van Buren's plot are still canon.
those are all canon because they appeared in New Vegas, a game which was made. Van Buren was not made, so it's not canon.

back on topic: i'm just glad to hear anything about F4. as a DC resident i'd love to go back to the Capital Wasteland, but The Commonwealth sounds cool.

I'd rather see it in Canada. A lot's been said about Canada's part in the Fallout history - I want to see some of it.

Wow, Mass sounds fucking boring. I've never been there but I've never heard of anything really interesting there. And it's so close to D.C. I don't believe it, it's not Fallout without huge landmarks.

This sounds really cool. I especially like that Bethesda is taking the reigns on this one.

I have nothing against New Vegas, but it always felt a little too...'civilized' would be a good term. There were just so few places that really rewarded exploration outside of any of the questlines. It felt like when the NCR came to the Mojave they combed just about all the places that WOULD have been cool to investigate, and took the rewards with them.

In Fallout 3 however, I loved the urban feel in the DC ruins and traversing them by metro tunnels, while tedious, felt right. And just about every building had something worth finding in it.

I can't wait to see what Fallout 4 has in store for us!

I wanna see a Fallout game set in China (*read in whiney little kid voice)...

Boston's cool I guess, But I wanna see some non-spin off love for the deep south or the midwest :)
I know that feel, bro. Seriously, I'd love to know how things are on the other side of the world.

Dare I say it I am fed up of the US cities...go somewhere I know a little closer to home...Cardiff maybe...or OK maybe London would work better.

Either way I am sure it will be a sweet game but I am sure if I ever went to washington or vague the last 2 games would have been a lot more interesting to me full of the oh god I remember that etc...as they stand they are just ruined cites

I was kind of hoping that the next Fallout would be closer to the Commonwealth, but only time will tell if this is actually true or if it is just another rumor.

Wait, I thought we already had Boston? Wasn't that one slave place DLC where you faked being a slave in Boston?

I swear I saw a sign wi- oh wait, it said Pittsburgh. Bah, all the same to me. xD
