Sexuality in video games, sorry unnecessary. I don't go in a game for sex and relationships, whether homosexual or not, I go there to run over pedestrians in GTA.
Yes.... Hooray for God Hand.ColdStorage said:But its silly and fun, so hooray for God Hand.
Dude, quit acting all defensive. We're not out to get you. We just resent being called cunts because we don't want obviously gay protagonists in our videogames. If you're going to argue your point, try to be a bit more calm (and a bit less insulting) about it.AWC Viper said:I can't spell, it's not my fault... and thankyou for not being a **** about all this like the other people that are scared of us
Well there's the ability to have gay elf sex in Dragon Age. And Mass effect 1 & 2 both allow for lesbian sexAWC Viper said:There is little on the subject of Homosexualality in games and i think it's a disgrace and there should be more of it, as a gay man it sickens me and i feel ashamed... Please put more in it...
Approximately 11% of the human population are flaming homosexuals, according to new research the animal kingdom exhibits roughly the same percentage of "same sex" couples.cieply said:Why should some disfunction of human brain be represented in video games?
Also, by ignoring the homosexual insult another answer to your remark could be thus;Approximately 8% of rams exhibit sexual preferences [that is, even when given a choice] for male partners (male-oriented rams) in contrast to most rams, which prefer female partners (female-oriented rams). We identified a cell group within the medial preoptic area/anterior hypothalamus of age-matched adult sheep that was significantly larger in adult rams than in ewes...[26]
Silent Hill protagonist are hugely dysfunctional, and they are good games.cieply said:Why should some disfunction of human brain be represented in video games?
I probably shouldn't have been laughing as hard as can after reading this, but it was funny as hellSturmdolch said:You're right. Thinking now, I can't name a game (non-sandbox) where I played a homosexual character. But wait. I can't really name one where I was heterosexual... So... It could be that all the games I've ever played, the characters were homosexual!
1. Half-Life 2: Gordon Freeman, Ely Vance... The hints he makes about his daughter could be his way of showing Freeman his secret homosexual fantasies about him and his silky beard. Freeman, not knowing how to display his feelings and in fear of people finding out he talks in a lisp, never speaks for the whole game.
2. Bad Company 2: The squad is also a drag quartet that performs in clubs around America while they're on leave. The name "Bad Company" comes from them, because they're very bad girls.
3. Perfect Dark: Joanna Dark never succumbed to Carrington's advances. Plus, she has short hair and wears leather, so she must be a lesbian, right?
4. Bioshock: The protagonist follows whatever Atlas says, even though he only knows him by his gruff voice. Enamoured by this manly voice, our hero, Jack, does anything he can to unite with this man. The story of Bioshock was actually largely based on a story of two men who met up on one of those dating chatlines.
5. Braid: The princess you're saving? It's the guy at the end. But at the end, we find out that he's been seeing a woman all this time.
6. Portal: People like cake. Lesbians are people. Therefore, Lesbians Like Cake. Chell Likes Cake. Therefore, Chell is Lesbian.
See? There's many more examples, and these are but some of them. If you look hard enough, you'll find that most games actually have deaper meaning and homosexual characters. I developed this skill from high school English class, where every character was also deemed homosexual, especially in Shakespeare plays.
That, and the lack of "fabulous".Willwillwritehiswill said:What gave it away? was it the lack of rainbows coming out of his arse?Casual Shinji said:The OP doesn't seem very "gay" for a homosexual.
Exactly, somebody acting in a clear stereotype instead of being a, I don't know, actual person is only a comic relief. In a lot of games the sexual orientation may be asked once or not even once so why should we care? Either I have a gay man shooting people/aliens or a straight man shooting people/aliens.Willwillwritehiswill said:My troll sensor is going off like crazy but I'd like to weigh in regardless.
I've only very recently come to terms with the fact that I'm gay (well, a 4 on the Kinsey scale, I'd say. Predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual). Homos aren't equally represented in video games for the simple fact that 50% of all men aren't gay.
And I'm sure I'm not the only one that places my face firmly in the palm of my hand when I see an extremely flamboyant, lisping stereotype walk in to a game scenario and expect to be taken as anything other than the comic relief.
Gays in games are fine. Games are a narrative. Not every story needs a marmite miner.
That did send off a few red lights but I ignored them for a short while. I recently stumbled on how rainbows are made and created throughout the world. [sub]A tip, condensation has NOTHING to do with it![/sub]Willwillwritehiswill said:What gave it away? was it the lack of rainbows coming out of his arse?Casual Shinji said:The OP doesn't seem very "gay" for a homosexual.
And it's not like the media will tear them up, reanimate them, tear them, burn them, true resurect them, crusify them, burn them, use a wish spell to get them back up, rip them in half, and THEN discrace their completely destroied corpse.Mr Snuffles said:The reason there aren't as many homosexual acts in video games is a matter of protecting the company's ass. Alot of religions believe homosexuality is wrong (That is not me so don't flame me) so in order to avoid angering them, they stick to heterosexual relationships

Not a very good April fools joke really... I mean, this could have easily been a serious discussion if worded differently... Your only attempt at being funny was acting like an idiot, which isn't really funny.AWC Viper said:took you fuckers long enough, i'm not gay... it was an april fools thing, too bad i got probation for it... I don't really think there was a need to call people names just because it was an April Fool's day joke.AWC Viper said:took you fuckers long enough, i'm not gay... it was an april fools thing, too bad i got probation for it... sorry bout anything that was said in this thread, an idiot used my PC while i was away.Rednog said:I'm sorry but the world doesn't and shouldn't have to cater to your desires.
So there isn't a huge portion portion of homosexuality in games, so what? It isn't like it is being shunned or put down in games. Every nationality and race isn't portrayed in video games. Hell for years shooters have been Americans/Brits/Soviets/Germans you don't see me complaining that my nationality isn't represented. Or how about the lack of black protagonists?
Do you honestly think that having a game developer specifically cater to a homosexual crowd be a good idea? Wouldn't it feel more like a gimmick or just be shoveled in?
And in the end does it really matter what a character's sexuality is? A good chunk of protagonists have no sexual relationships in their games because that isn't the point of the game.
It's like when Dumbledore was announced to be gay. Its like ok....so what? Doesn't change any of the story if the announcement was never made no one would really care.
