For a long time now I've been hearing people going on and on about Steam and how awesome it is. Don't get me wrong I loved playing the whole of Orange Box and both L4D's on the 360 but I thought it was time to look more into the pc side of Valve. So I was just wondering what do you guys reccomend I buy first? And also I assume you get all the valve dlc for free on this as opposed to paying on xbox? It doesn't have to be a valve game either I saw every fallout on there as well which is kinda cool. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I guess for discussion value? What are you guys favourite steam or valve games?

The 'DLC' free thing depends on the publisher.

You get a lot of free updates that add new content on Steam.

As for games, what are you in to?
Also, deals are always good.

Yeah what I meant was would the updates/DLC from valve be free?

As for what I'm into, well my 360 library consists of games such as mass effect, orange box, L4D, fallout etc.

Well, if you want to see all the awesomeness you missed out on in TF2 then I'd say get that. Also Deus Ex, Half-Life, Painkiller, Psychonaughts, Serious Sam... There's heaps.

Valve games doesn't have DLC as far as I am aware of. Unless you mean like TF2 stuff. That costs D:

Btw, there's a Square Enix sale going on this week. They have a new deal every day. Yesterday it was Batman: Arkham Asylum, today it's Just Cause 2. The complete Square Enix pack is also HEAVILY discounted.

I'd still recommend TF2.

It's completely different than on the Xbox.

Yeah, all Valve DLC is free of charge. You can of course choose to pay for some stuff in TF2 to get it sooner, but you can all get it for free.

As for my favourite games on Steam, well that's kinda hard to pick as I've got 73 games now on Stea. The latest addition came today in the form of Just Cause 2, it being only 6,25. I mean, that's just a deal you can't refuse. Sadly Steam does that a lot.

I also recommend buying TF2 again, it's a lot better on the PC than it is on the Xbox. As for the rest, well, just browse the store and download demos. There's a ton of stuff on Steam, from the latest blockbuster to Psychonauts or the first Fallout.

I absolutely love Steam, and I would hugely recommend Mount and Blade Warband. Oddly, all I seem to see about steam is people complaining about DRM.

The good thing about steam are their sales.
Every other day they offer different discounts. So I would adivse to just wait until something pops up there that interessts you. Don't just buy anything on principle.

Thanks a lot guys, and by DLC I mean things such as L4D The Passing, and I am considering the first fallout and perhaps L4D2. Do the things on sale change daily?

EDIT: Also what is the difference between pc and 360 TF2?

If your PC can handle it, Just Cause 2 is a definite purchase.

1. I recommend to get the valve complete pack, its 99 dollars or something but its cheaper than buying all the games you liked on the Xbox over again, and you get other games too.

However, Im not sure what other games I would recommend you buy since most games I play are valve, I guess just look on the steam store and find some. make sure to look at the meta score also, and look at the meta score by the users.

also all valve DLC is free, but tf2 has a wierd store thing were you can buy some of the items that are ingame, even though you can get them all by simply playing the game any way.

No, the current daily changes are just part of an event for this week. Some deals lasts for months, some weeks, some days. If you don't feel like checking in on new sales every day, Steam have an automatic pop up screen that tells you what new deals there are when you exit a game.

yea, valve doesnt do dlc (at least not yet, and i hope not ever)
updates are free
with the portal 2 pre-purchase offer (a copy of portal) and the fact that almost anyone with a steam account over 1 year old has portal from when they gave it away for free for a week, i expect that plenty of people will have a spare copy of portal
that is always a fun game to play
metro 2033 is a good game if u comp can handle it

Keep an eye out for sales and such. I believe EA is doing something this week. Just Cause 2 is only $7.50 right now. If you have the PC to run it, I highly recommend this game.
Alien Swarm is a freebie, so no complaints.
Mount & Blade Warband. Oh my god, I love this game. If you're a fan of RTS's, King Arthur: The Role-Playing Wargame or something seems really good. I haven't played it far, had a technical mishap. There's a small bug, you gotta "end turn" after every battle in the tutorial section, or it doesn't progress further sometimes. Anyway, I have over 70 games, and I don't think I've ever bought a game that wasn't on sale. There's some great indie games on there, Reccettear for one.
Oh, and KOTOR is on Steam. So if you haven't played it, you're out of excuses.
There is always a weekly sale, and weekend sale. Plus new releases are usually 5-10% off, and then there's special sales, or just random stuff. Yeah, lots of sales. So my advice is, unless their is a game you really want, just keep an eye on the sales.

Basically a lot of weapons and such now. And maps and stuff. There's now a store, though you still get weapons from random drops. Basically, years worth of patches/improvements. I would recommend getting it for PC, I know I've had a lot of fun with it since I bought it.
