On my first file, I sacrificed myself, which sucked because I never even found my brother, so our reunion was post mortem, unfortunately. Would not give Morrigan/Orochimaru that baby.

The one thing I really didn't like was the deep roads of the dwarven city. That place sucked.

One other thing I hated was that you couldn't REALLY find out the whole deal of things going on with Morrigan and Flemmeth, as even when you try to find out just wtf is going on, Flemmeth will simply say that nothing matters and only what the warden chooses to do is important. *sigh* Was each daughter flemmeth? Was flemmeth the only flemmeth? Is it something deeper? We'll never know because morrigan and flemmeth are intentionally more cryptic and annoying than effing Kreia!! grrr! *goes and rages in a corner*

Story = Generic (Really, really generic)
Combat = Generic (But entertaining enough. Nothing new added.)
Characters = Passable. They range from Emo-Alistair to Psychopath-Morrigan.
Length = Disappointment. RPGs should be longer than 40 hours having done all of the side quests.
Difficulty = Erratic (Occasional spikes that made me question game balancing)

My overall score = 8/10

Not sure what all the fuss is about. If all Bioware games are like this one, then they are mediocre at best. Yes this is my first Bioware game. Been playing RPGs though since about 1988.

Been playing Demon's Souls at the same time and that may have skewed the results. Demon's Souls is just sooo good.
(Demon's Souls = 9.5/10)
Alistair was totally not Emo in the slightest. O_O really. Also, there is no way it only took you 40 hours including all sidequests. The game is longer than that. Also, damn man, do some research on other Bioware games before judging them all by one game.

Did you do the Morrigan character side quest? It's pretty well explained there.
Flemmeth is a demon that takes over new host bodies to remain immortal. Hence the daughters. Nothing new there as far as ideas go though...
of course I know that is BASICALLY what is said, however there is more to it than simply that and you know it by the end of the game with Morrigan's whole proposition being essentially JUST what flemmeth has been doing, and perhaps what her mother did, and so on, and so on. Believing anything morrigan says is just really not the smartest thing.

What choices did you all make?

Who killed the arch demon?

DId anyone have the baby with Morrigan?

Any parts you felt were weak? (I thought the deep roads went on way too long)

And what were your favorite moments from the game?
I made a male mage, arcane warrior and spirit healer. Slept with Morrigan, Leliana and Zevran (in that order), chose Leliana as the main love interest. Killed Loghain and convinced Alistair to marry Anora. I rebuilt the gray wardens with Leliana and Zevran by my side. Prince Bhelen. Cured the werewolves, saved the mage's circle, saved Connor and the Arlessa.

I killed the arch demon and didn't die.

I had the baby with Morrigan, I didn't want to die or Alistair to, plus I though it set up a sequel up quite well.

I thought the dialogue option for persuade were too simple "(Persuade) These are not the grey wardens you are looking for", I would have prefered Mass Effect style of convincing through several series of dialogue options.

I loved the fade missions, were quite trippy when played late at night, nothing like mastering the rock golem form and smashing darkspawn.

The only good gear was Blood Dragon Armor and Wade's Dragonscale sets
Really am I the only one who hated the Blood Dragon Armour? IMHO it had incredibly low polys and looked terrible.

There was the Juggernaut armour, Knight commander armour, dilegence set and legion armour. Also Warden Commander if you got the dlc.

My first playthrough was an Elven mage...sheltered and naive...
Was shocked...SHOCKED...by Jowan's revelation...
She was goody-goody and duty-bound, which does NOT lead to the best of results in DA:O. (A fact that I LOVE, but sure screwed my poor little mage..)
I had SO MUCH FUN in the Sloth Demon's Fade. Loved it! Orzamar was the only area that dragged a little for me, but then I found the brood mother, and the utter squick factor of the implications of that redeemed that whole quest for me.
My mage was too gentle to 'harden' Alistair, and so had her ass DUMPED by her knight in shining armour after making him king. Broken hearted, she turned down Morrigan's deal, completely satisfied to sacrifice her own life for duty and Ferelden.
And then that RAT BASTARD Alistair STOLE HER G'DAMN SUICIDE, claiming he loved her too much! (But not enough to keep her around if he's king??? Jerk.) Seriously...I was yelling obsenities at my monitor at this stage...
I have images of a now-crazed diminutive red-headed elf being carried away over Sten's shoulder as she calls down curses on the heads of all Fereldens. She may go to the Dark Roads a tad early...

An 8 out of 10 is a mediocre score?

No but seriously, I had grown attached to my character and I didn't want him or anyone else dieing so I did what I thought was best.
Well there also the "you could unleash ancient evil" part but hey thank god the game say there a possiblity that its just slander by the game local church

I din't have the baby, and saw both me and Alastair die. I wish I had had the baby, even though I was with Leliana, or at least made a save before the choice.

Just wondering, with the expansion, do you get to make the choice to have the baby, or is it stuck with me and my not-baby having-ness.

The ending was really good but it just reakes of the word "sequel" all over the place, it was really really good but all of it just felt like the properties for the sequel.

How did you have yourself and Alistair both die?

His sword got caught inside ALlistar head as he gave the death blow to the archdemon

I've compelted the game 3 times so far. One of the playthroughs i did the thing with Morrigan to survive but had a romance with Leliana, that was my Warrior. My first Arcane Warrior/Spirit Healer died at the end, refusing Morrigan even after having romanced her because he felt betrayed.
I've just finished my third playthrough which was probably my favourite, being a complete ass-hole and doing anything for power. Romanced Morrigan and a bit of Leliana, was an Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage and did the baby thing with Morrigan.

I'm gonna try either a Rogue playthrough, Blood Mage/Spirit Healer Mage playthrough or a Two-Hander Warrior playthrough next.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!

Making a save before the final battle opens ENDLESSpossibilities.

I just wanted to see both endings.

In my opinion, Alastair didn't get enough respect in the ending where he dies.

Loved the game.

Two things off the top of my head that annoyed me.

1. Why couldn't I take the Urn of Sacred Ashes tomake my army invincible and wipe out the blight in one easy step. I'd killed the warden, the dragon, and the dragon cult, and I wasn't religious, there was nothing stopping me!

2. All the way through I was expecting Logahin's betrayal to be explained by demonic possession or being a doppelgänger or something. But no, he was just a great man who decided one day to be greedy and kill the people he loved? WTF?

He was doing it out of fear of Orlais and he became a Tyrant.
