Alright so, I just finished fable II. By all means the game looked great, I loved the colors. The combat was fun and I enjoyed marrying multiple prostitutes. But then...

Quite frankly I thought I was only about half way through the game. There was no actual end boss, nothing crazy happened, and I think the entire game took about 9 hours to complete. Now I did a little bit of the side stuff, but seriously what is there to do? Whats the point of everything if it doesn't add to the game one bit? Does anyone here actually enjoy saving villagons or items. I'm usually all for doing side stuff but this game doesn't really have anything to offer thats worth someones time.

I just needed to vent, currently rather disappointed.

What pissed me off about the game is how freakin glitchy it was. I constantly had to remarry becauce my wife would just disappear and my game would constantly freeze. I looked around the internet and multiple other glitches have been reported and it is a widespread problem. The game was rushed and I feel a little cheated by Peter again. Probably lost the last bit of respect I had for the man.

You bought fable 2, ignore the side quests and optional events, and then complain that the game is too short?

Might as well buy a car, swear off fuel and then say it never takes you anywhere.

Or do the same with Fallout 3. It was damned short if you skipped right to Vault 112 and effectively missed half of the story.

What's a villagon?

I love all the stuff there is to do. What I hated, was the story.
Not Boss battle. DO NOT tell me the Great Shard was the Boss Battle. The final conflict is with the BBEG, not his pet rock from the third grade.
The endings were pure shit.
Option 1: Gain nothing, waste them nine hours for the "greater good" of people who do not exist. Bringing back everyone does not change the game in any way. Villages do not get larger, places do not become more populated, and the economies are not affected.
Option 2: get your dog, and any wives you had back. This is probably the only ending with nay benefit. Your dog helps you find treasures, and even a legendary weapon that you can't get without him. The only spousal benefit you gain is if you married Lady Grey before finishing the game. If you didn't, then you gain nothing that won't take you two seconds to get back. You also get a letter from your sister, whom you never see. You also have people berate you for your choice.
Option 3: 1,000,000 Gold. That's it. Enough to either 1: Get started on buying everything ever, or 2: Get Castle Fairfax and work your way back up to getting enough money to buy everything else. People will still berate you for your choice.
Let's recap: 1: get nothing. Good points, but nothing. 2: Get your dog, and if you got her, Lady Grey back. 3: Money.
.
i agree with you there, whats the point having everyone rezed and you dont see your sister! i did find her dairy in Old Town and sold it for 1 gold thats the only thig i found of her. i was especting that they would made the bosses more tough and hard to kill to me it would prove more of a challange. the main quest was okay. i did do the quest for lady Gray but i was pure evil she ran out on me i didnt get to kill her.

Fable II doesn't have any side quests that are worth doing, and I did do some side quests, but i'm not in the mood of playing assassin's creed again and doing the same quests over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

What, you don't like finding hidden flags for no reason other than to find hidden flags? Shame on you!

Then why buy a game in which the primary source of appeal is doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

It sounds to me you shot yourself in foot and are wrongly looking for someone else to blame.

Do you just like having a go at everyone? The guy is complaining about the story, and the fact that you think a short story is fine in a game as long as it's padded with a shitload of side quests (Which can be fun/interesting, but half the time they're a waste of time) is pretty retarded.

I'm not having a go at anyone, i'm offering a hypothesis for the cause of his current malcontent. I don't disagree with his complaints, only the fact that he blames others for his predicament. He has every right to dislike the game, but it's not the games fault that he didn't do his research before buying it.

Fable 2 is all about the side quests, the 'trivial' and the things off to the side of the beaten track. It never pretended to be anything else.

When you buy that game, and then complain that it did what it promised, it's understandable that someone like me is going to point out that irony. He is taking shots at a game where, in truth, it should be praised for it's integrity towards it's goals. Purporting his own dissatisfaction as a result of the games inadequacy is unfair.

I simply wish to rectify this injustice. If that's having a go then i'm guilty as charged.

Well if that's the case then there's no way in hell i'm ever going to play this game.

I'm not blaming anyone, I said I had to vent my disappointment in the game. Everything was peachy until it came to a sudden end. After the abrupt end I just didn't feel any motivation to do anything else, it turns into a sort of Sims with less depth. There is no way I could possibly justify spending anymore time on the game.

Anyways I leave the game with an empty feeling, at least they put a lot of work into their credits. It's funny, the last game I finish was Dead Space and I thought the ending was bad, but the rest of the game was fine so it didn't bother me much. Fable II blew Dead Space's crappy ending out of the water.

Well, UltraJoe, I do agree with him. I think that a game, and especially a RPG, should have a good storyline. However, Fable 2 feels as though Molyneux found that the game was too small for the entire game and he decided to cut away parts of the storyline instead of a few side quests.

Also, is it just me, or is there close to no characterization? And I'm not talking about the main character, since you basically decide what he'll be. I'm talking about the 'important' side characters, like hammer and the others of the heroes. Okay, Theresa is shrouded in mystery for a reason, but there's no reason the others were so rarely involved in the gameplay and why you didn't learn anything about them.

Sister Hammer had characterization. She went from an angsty, but relatively content, monk, to an angry violent brute. Even if it was in ten seconds.
And then straight back to angsty monk at the end of the game. She was all "Hell yeah beating up guards at the Great Shard!" and then after she was crying about all the killing they'd done.

I'm still playing the game, just having fun sitting on my high horse. That's why I keep playing these types of games after I beat them. I just feel awesome for being awesome. (I understand it's all fake, but so are books, aren't they?)
