I knew about the Ant Queen even before I found that factory. There's a mision wher you can help a Fire Ant infested town an you see an Ant Queen while doing that, (you don't kill her though.)

The only time I was surprised in Fallout 3 was this:

I was wandering the wasteland. I came across a Deathclaw and a Robobrain fighting. It's pretty obvious who's going to win this and sure enough the Robobrain toppled over. While doing this though it somehow catapulted the Deathclaw straight into the sky. I hung around the area for a while, mostly because a group of Enclave needed to be killed. Killed them and looked back to wher I came from, looked forward again, heard a noise so looked back and WHAM! Angry Deathclaw lands almost right on top of me. Gave me a damn fright too.

Deathclaws are easy though. I built myself the dart gun. One hit from that and their movement slows to a crawl and they're easy to take care of. Same with those bear things too.

You mean you hadn't done the Grayditch Quest "those!"? I always got that quest really early, I once had the annoying little git Bryan Wilks come running up to me when I was in Springvale.
Yeah, the queen was a part of a quest. It had pretty neat rewards too.
Ant Might = God mode.

INB4 Surprise Deathclaw.

For me it would have to be stumbling into the fire ant town (Name escapes me), I was like "Holy Fuck! Giant ants!" Went up to shotgun them and they fucking breath fire.

Was totally not expecting that at level 4.
That would be Grayditch :)
Hm weird, i remember doing the quest "Those" but i cant remember fighting a Queen.

You play every quest and you have NEVER seen A Giant Ant Queen. That is interesting considering that is an earlier quest. (Btw the freaking Ant Queen freaked me out too when I first saw it) Grayditch was one of the first quests I did outside of Megaton/Vault 101. And if you had follow through the quest you get an extra perk as well (Ant Strength or Ant Sight).

That kid was running around crazy while Raiders were shooting at him and an Enclave Eyebot. It was funny b/c he just runs up and starts talking to me. (this was when i was doing the quest for the Wastelander's Survival Guide on where to get food and such.) At the Super Market.
Like i did do the quest "Those!" but that was like way back in 10 hours of gameplay, so after 200+ hours of gameplay i must of forgotten :p haha

There's actually a giant ant queen somewhere in the game that ISN'T the one from "Those!"

You get the ant queen pheromone from it, which you can use to help out the girl who's trying to attract the priest in Rivet City.

I've never found it, personally, but a friend of mine (a much more avid Wasteland explorer) found it. I didn't believe her, at first, but she had the pheromones to prove it, and she hadn't even done "Those!" yet.
I found this queen on the very edge of downtown DC near that National Armory place

Most surprising moment would have to be when I downloaded the Broken Steel DLC but i still wasnt done with the main quest. I was going through the Tunnels of Little Lamplight leading to vault 87 to get the Geck and killing Supermutants left and right when suddenly a freaking Overlord comes out around the corner.

My first impression was "You're not suppose to be here!" then I was fighting to save myself and Paladin Cross (my companion at the time). That first time I had to pull out old Vengeance to gun it down.

Waste of ammo though, these days I always bring out a melee weapon to cut those uglies up. I thought it would be fun with an Auto Axe but it takes forever, personally I prefer to use Jack or the Shiskebab.

Note: Also, use melee weapons on those.
A tip for overlords is to VATS target their weapon they are practicaly defenceless afterwards and if you have it hit them with the dart gun to cripple both of their legs

the first time i saw a death claw in 3d i had played all the other fall outs so i knew about them but seeing one in 2d and 3d wow that made me run like hell and leaving a brown stain behind me i was only lvl 6 when i met it

now at 20 unless i see them first from a distance they still cause me problems they are the one thing oblivion lacked a moster that no matter how good you get can still mess you up good
Nah. Deathclaws are a cinch at level 20 - 30.
I fight multiples at once without breaking a sweat.

The truly scary ones are:
Super Mutant Overlords (with Tri-Beam lasers)
Feral Ghoul Reavers

And to a lesser extent:
Albino Radscorpions

i can only reach lvl 20 i dont have the extra stuff once i have a gattling lazer and power amour if i see them they die if they jump me i get hurt

I do that as well, forgot to say. I have to - those tri-lasers cut through me like butter, and the only other ranged weapon they carry is Gatling lasers.

Makes it difficult to get a fixed up tri-laser however, and hell they arent as good in players hands as Overlord hands :p

with 100 repair I find even completly damaged weapons can still repair others for about 20% and if you invest in Crazy wolfgang he can repair upto 85%

The Dart Gun has to be my favorite starting weapon during a fight...just to walk them either limp away or even try and chase you then BANG they are dead...lol

jamesworkshop howd you manage that?

The Super Mutant Overlords were a big wake up call for me when I finally got GOTY edition. Up until that point I was practically king of the wasteland. There wasn't anything I couldn't kill in a couple headshots with Lincoln's Repeater. Then I started going up against some Overlords.

"SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! WHY WON'T IT DIE? WHY WON'T IT DIE!"

Of course since I hadn't gone into Vault 87 yet, there were tons of them running around in there. Needless to say I stealthed my way through or just let Fawkes kill them.
