One day while randomly humming the tune of "Santa Claus is coming to town" I thought about the words in the song, specifically:

"He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
O! You better watch out!
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town"

mind you, I don't want this to become a religious debate, but I couldn't help but wonder, "Is Santa supposed to be a god?"

Obviously Santa has the ability to do things a human shouldn't be able to do, so who, or what is Santa Claus supposed to be? A demon, an omnipotent being, something entirely different?

He gives people presents, and then takes childrens, abuses them using a rubber duck... then he returns them and steals the presents.

Santa: harmless present giver or CIA spook?

No
Actually Santaclaus is Taken from the dutch tradition of Sinterklaas (a saint) a man who gives presents/money to the poor

The rest about santaclaus was made up by cocacola
True! But also Santa (And The Birth of Jesus) was ment to cover up the Pagan Holiday that used to be christmas so it did come from the Dutch but we use it because no one wants to celebrate a pagan holiday because pagan holidays are looked down on in modern day culture

Santa is a figure made up, earlier it was to make children behave, today it is a commercialized tool used to make us buy lots of things at christmas.

Indeed. Behold: Sinterklaas... and his little helpers, who aren't elves!

I would love to see Mr.Claus get himself a cult...it's bound to happen, what other religion would let you sit on God's lap?

...of course this would mean all store santa would have to be burnt for their blasphemous dress...
