It's still illegal. So no.

And the full stop needs some love!
The "law" is an artificial construct devoid of any direct moral basis. The law exists to allow society as a whole to a-morally, or sometimes immorally, deal with people who don't have a moral sense about them.

In other words. There are circumstances where actions moral in nature can exist outside of the law. Pirating a copy of something you bought or went to see, but didn't get to because of someone elses fuck up is far enough in the white end of the spectrum for me.
Watch out dude, he's a paladin. (Lawful Good jokes, ba dum tish!)

If you want to see the end of the film then I don't think that you need to have a giant moral dilemma about it. WATCH IT ALREADY.

they should have refunded your money, or given you tickets to another session.

You could get it on torrents, but the quality would probably be pretty crappy... or just wait for the DVD..

Well I havn't pirated Avatar yet actually im not sure I am not sure if I will yet I am asking the internet what I should something that I think I will regret.
Never trust the internet.

Ever.

That's like a law or something.
NO, it's common sense. What is a law though is to never ask the internet anything. Which he's just done so he is a criminal now. So he might as well download the film since he's already fucked and will burn in the Ninth circle of hell.

For the first two or three weeks a movie plays, what is referred to as the Box Office, the ticket sales go straight to the creators of the movie. So while the reasonable solution would be for the theater to re-imburse everyone, James Cameron has already received your money to watch Avatar once.

Okay so this comes with a story.
The other day I went to see James Camerons Avatar I paid my 10$ and started watching it was good times until about 3/4 of the way through the movie it cuts out screen goes blank after a 15 minute wait the manager comes in and informs us the audience that the film snapped in two and we would not get to see the end of the movie to which I replied " Son of B!@#%" because if you have seen Avatar you will know that it is pretty good. Any way normally I don't approve of piracy except for old games I already owned but cannot find like the original Unreal, But when this happened I seriously considered pirating Avatar I mean come on I paid to see it and know if I want to see the end I would have to sit through the 2 hours I already saw. So my question is do you think I would be moral justified if I pirated Avatar yes or no. Also I would like to hear any stories similar to mind which made you think you should pirate something.
In this instance hell yes, you are entitled to see teh end of that movie, on teh other hand its a fucking great movie and the r5 knocking around on torren sites is not going to do it justice. Seriously your caught in catch 22 morally you should have no qualms with dling it, but you seemed to like the movie so is it worth diminishing the quality of the ending? Especialy with the visuals that were in Avatar. I would demand a free screening from the cinema manager if I were you.

Why do so many people feel the need to justify piracy? Look, it's simple, if you care that much don't do it. As long as you don't get all preachy I couldn't give two fucks.

If you're asking whether it's illegal, yes it is. If you're asking if it's immoral, no it isn't (you got dicked and any reasonable person would agree that you're entitled to seeing the end of the film).

There are a crap tons of reasons to pirate...

But alas if I even show one little hair showing that pirating is not always the morrally bad descision all hell will break loose as idiots every where flock to my post and so "NU UH YOU'RE WRONG IF IT'S THE AGAINST THE LAW HERE THEN IT'S AGAINST THE LAW EVERY WHERE SNURF SNURF SNURF"

I think I'll make a response, save it to a .txt and if you want the reasons PM me.

Dude, it's completely justified. They fucked up, you payed the full bloody price to see it, if you didn't get some sort of compensation then you're stupid to not pirate it.

Piracy is treason. Those damn pirates stealing and attacking without regards to the country where they were born. Living a lifestyle where no nation's government is acknowledged and they act like filthy anarchists.

Unless you're a privateer, then you're cool.

I think it's justified if the product is extremely overpriced, such as FRAPS ($37, really?).

Anyways, my friend gave it to me, so I didn't pirate it directly.

Yeah I do the same thing with games. A couple times I've though about pirating the newer movies that come out (the example that pops into my mind is Iron Man). When it came out on dvd I thought about downloading it. Then I realized "WAIT this is a GOOD COMIC BOOK MOVIE I should support this" and then I bought the dvd.

... I hope by "film" you mean a DVD or Blu-ray disc and NOT 16-mm or VHS film. Because if it isn't on digital media then your cinema is officially in the stone age.
By film I assume he means the same 35mm film that's been standard since the early 1900s and which is still widely used today in spite of the advent of digital film - which, for your information, is simply downloaded instead of being sent on Bluray discs or DVDs.

@OP You should have seen it in 3D, then you wouldn't have had to worry about the film breaking and you would have had a much cooler experience.
