Or, could this be reverse psychology and an attempt to get hardcore gamers into Justin Bieber? It's worked on me: I already bought all of his albums and have them on repeat. Any 16-year-old that uses terms like "shorty" is cool with me.
I deeply hope your kidding about that.

OT:Another reason to hate the Wii and any motion control, ESPECIALLY Kintect

If Microsoft believes that its core audience are likely to be Justin Bieber fans than I, as an actual gamer, am really starting to feel left out and shunned. What happened between us, Microsoft? We used to be friends. Now, you won't even call me anymore.

Seems like a pretty typical celebrity endorsement to me.

The back stage thing is probably going a big far at this point though because the thing is being primed for a Christmas-season release come November (probably with a pre-planned "shortage" to generate hype)

Him just happening to have an unreleased product back stage and wander in and start playing it is a bit much. Truthfully that style of advertisement would probably have worked better if it was already on the market because it could have been made to look more genuine.

At any rate, with the classy movie 80's "It girl" Debbie Gibson is doing for the syfy channel, just imagine what Bieber will be doing in 30 years. Think of that whenever he annoys you.... I kind of thought Debbie was okay for the most part though.

Megapython Vs. Gateroid XIII, co-starring Justin Bieber (as the most recent sauriophille scientist) and The Jonas Brothers as a clan of cannibal swampfolk who will capture him and then get gradually picked off by the monsters as they continue their ongoing rivalry...

Well it WAS always Justin's end goal in life to become a corporate whore for Microsoft. I'm happy for him. He's living the dream man. LIVING THE DREAM.

How many teen girls who are Justin Bieber fans own a 360 in the first place? Very little; they mostly will all have Wiis if any console at all. I can't see them running out and getting both a 360 and Kinect.
Ah but that is why Microsoft got Justin Beiber to promote their product.

I don't know whether I should be thankful for Bieber killing off any hardcore gamers from buying the monstrosity (as if any hardcore gamers planned to ACTUALLY BUY IT) or hate him even more for promoting it to horny teenage women who will buy it for casual gaming....

Microsoft? Caring about it's fanbase? Surely you jest!

There was the 3 sports guys [footnote]one of which I know was Tiger Woods, I do not recognize the other 2.[/footnote] and Gillette.
The others were Thierry Henry (A football player who have played for Arsenal and currently plays for Barcelona.) The other one is Roger Federer, a world famous tennis-player.

I don't plan on buying a Kinect either way, Justin Bieber can marry it for all I care. [SUB]I still want the new 360 though, it looks sweeeet![/SUB]

I don't care, I'm not even going to buy it, I already have a Wii, decent PC, and a normal 360

The important questions is, who the hell is Justin Bieber. Never heard of him, or his music. It's like they tried to promote horse racing by putting a sign on a mouse. I'll say, that's a failed attempt.

nd you thought teenage boys on xbox live were bad enough. Now the tween girls will buy an xbox and discover xbox live, get ready for HannahXMontanaXFan and to sing their favorite autotune songs on their mic.

Without autotune...

Oh wow. What a bad marketing ploy. Like girls are going to buy a 360 because beiber is using it. They might consider it. But between the games that are the same as the one they have for the wii and xbox 360's usual lineup of fps to fps rpg most will probably just sign off on buying it claiming it's just another gamer toy for boys who like games.

As far as I know you can't really intentionally sell anything to girls. If they want it they will get it.

Because he knows the target audience. Try finding a single writer in this site's staff that doesn't have some kind of agenda. This sin't the New York Times you know.
All news has an agenda, but said agenda is usually a lot more subtle. This is non-news employed to poke fun at someone the guy doesn't like. It doesn't sit well with me, but I'm clearly the minority. Oh well.

I still don't understand the hatred for Mr. Bieber. I know nothing of his music and nearly nothing about him, other than he started on Youtube, rose to popularity and that thousands of young girls find him dreamy. Apparently he's considered cute. I hadn't even heard of him for the longest time.

It's hard to say that his music, or indeed anything in life, is bad. That's called an opinion. His fans love it, but everyone else hates it. But is it good? No. Is it bad? No.

The kid is what, 16? He's rich. He is set for life and probably won't have to do a lot of work. He got lucky and was noticed early on. Because of being "cute and dreamy" he is incredibly popular and people buy his stuff because of it. Like it or not, he's luckier than a lot of us here, he has it easy. Is he a bad person because he got successful without a great deal of effort. No. He isn't any better either.

And about the Kinect thing. I think Microsoft had a good idea using such a popular person to advertise. It really isn't any different from any other company using a celebrity to endorse their product. Companies realize how people think, "If they have it, it must be worth having!"
Of course, not being the target audience, naturally we gamers would not find it appealing and are indeed repelled by it.

In closing, it's strange seeing people "hate" Mr. Bieber because of his fame. That seems like jealousy. Microsoft advertising the Kinect with Mr. Bieber is no different that what other companies do, and shouldn't be frowned upon. Remember, they're a company, they're out to make money.

This. Makes. Money.

If Justin Bieber goes anywhere near any sort of product, I know it's not the product for me.
Justin Bieber wears clothes. He also eats food and drinks water. Does that mean clothes, food and water aren't right for you? Basically, not to flame you or anything, but that's completely stupid and condescending. Justin Bieber is not a bad thing, he's just not aimed at you as an audience, so don't start complaining until he starts moving into the type of music you do like. Otherwise we just get stupid haters and flame wars popping up over something completely irrelevant.

Anyway, as far as the topic goes, I don't particularly mind, in fact I applaud Microsoft for their business accumen on this. It's a very clever marketing strategy, taking something popular and using that to promote their own device. I want to buy Natal anyway (I am NOT going to start calling it 'Kinect'), though this won't affect my decision either way. But if it means more sales for Microsoft, then kudos to their marketing department, I say :D.
