This movie is something I have to say NEVER to.
The film ignores that in the music industry, youth is an advantage, not a disadvantage.
Still, he's obviously extremely talented (almost in his nappies and doing syncopated rhythms holy shit) and the film's probably going to inspire a lot of people. Of course a lot of people will hate it just because it's Bieber, and it's trendy to hate Bieber, but that's okay - this film isn't aimed at those people anyway.
By the way, I wouldn't have known about this movie had you not posted this YouTube, but I might go and see it now, so thanks for giving Justin's career a leg up. In these tough times for the music industry I'm sure him and his record company appreciate the service you're providing.
Awww, poor ickle Justin Bieber can only afford to only have his top teeth replaced with diamonds and white gold? Poor, talentless little prick.
I'm never watching this movie. Bieber is as shallow as a teaspoon, and always will be. What does his work mean or signify? What messages or stories does it tell or convey? Barely anything, and what it does say is shit, anyway. It's tasteless and bland.
Sure, he's damn lucky and obviously has
something that makes him great, but I and quite a few others (have a look at the like/dislike ratio on his Youtube vids...) just can't see it.
It's pop music, it's not meant to be super-meaningful. Asking pop music to have deep, profound meaning is a bit like asking a computer game to have a good plot. It's just not what the medium is for, and anyone whining about the lack of such content is missing the point of why such a thing exists in the first place. Most people who hate popular music do so because they don't understand how it works, or why it works. I used to hate it myself many years ago, until I got involved in the industry and had my eyes opened to exactly what is involved.
Justin is popular because he's talented, he has songs that people like to listen to, and he's able to deliver those songs with spot-on performance and visual presentation. Anyone who is saying that he is not talented would probably not be able to do what he does. The competition in the field of pop music is very intense - for every Justin there's thousands upon thousands of people who tried to be that person but didn't make it. Luck no doubt plays a role, but the real reason why Justin is up there and other people are not is because
they simply weren't good enough to cut it. This is of course a very bitter pill for a lot of music fans to swallow, especially if they're musicians themselves, because they have a vested interest in their own ego and believing they are superior to a teenager in the pop realm, hence why the hatred for Justin is so intense. Sure, he's definitely not the brightest kid, but then neither are a lot of kids his age. He's also living in a bit of an industry bubble, he doesn't get to ever stop being Justin and be a normal kid and grow up normally so that's going to screw with a person's brain and perspective a little. Plus, people in that particular field of pop music
train for very long hours (remember Michael Jackson died during training exercises) so things like education and a sense of perspective on the world suffer. Having an army of insecure people ready and waiting to tear you down for the slightest mistake you make in order to make themselves feel better about their relatively unsuccessful lives probably doesn't help matters either.
When the Beatles first appeared many, many people dismissed it as a bunch of screaming, music requiring minimal talent (especially minimal vocal talent), heavily image-based, not "genuine" or "real music", music reliant on technology to cover up a deficit in talent etc. The same thing happened when Michael Jackson appeared. Now it's hard to find anyone who'll say a bad word about The Beatles or Michael (at least in relation to the music). Take That were a subject of incredibly huge mockery for the same reasons when they first appeared and now Robbie Williams is huge and no-one ever says he's untalented anymore. If Justin has longevity (and it's impossible to tell if he will at this stage, talent never guarantees industry sustainability) he'll be in that position too and you'll look back on the time when you made the above post and think to yourself "what was my problem?".
