I just can't get behind an artist that makes a song called "Stupid Hoe".

I don't hate them. I don't dislike them. I simply don't like them. People seem to think that not liking something is the equivalent of saying 'I actively hate them'. The only problem I have so far with any of the aformentioned is Bieber, who didn't know what 'German' was when he was in New Zealand.

"Is it true your last name is German for basketball?"
"My last name is...what?"
"German."
"We don't have that in America."

I bear little to no ill will against the music of the moment. I may occasionally express bewilderment as to what people find enjoyable about certain songs/bands with essentially no redeeming qualities, but I don't really hate the artists in question.

Surely he misheard. Really, that doesn't strike me as stupidity, the entire damn conversation makes no sense.

It really is all about sexuality and the money. It's hardly about the music at all.

And it's not pointless hate. They are shit artists getting paid very well for their shit unimaginitive work. And they do have an effect on other artists when making such simple shit because 'it's better for business' (you lose my respect as soon as you say that) so it's pressure on those who want to be very ambitious.

Why is this so fucking hard to understand? Pop singers like those you've mentioned have always been called out for being marketed trash that's a giant step backwards from the innovation we used to see more of. This cool to hate thing is just another put down to all those who is sick of this corruption and the bland pop that dominates the media.

Hopefully they are forgotten completely for doing nothing interesting at all.

I'll give Nicki Minaj the credit she deserves though, she was really bloody good in Kanye's Monster song.

I honestly don't really care about them. I never did. I'm not saying I'm completely immune to disliking something just because it's the cool thing to dislike (EA, I don't really give two shits about them, but will probably say I dislike them), I just really don't care about them. I don't care about a lot of things. Generally, if something isn't directly in my scope of interest, I practically forget about its existence. I only ever even think about Justin Bieber or Nicki Manaaj when people bring them up to hate on them on forums like these. That being said, I do would probably say that I don't like Nicki because I have a particular distaste for rap, but only for that reason, because I know nothing about her as a person.

Huh.

I'm guessing either:
A) They don't have German in North America.
B) Justin Bieber's a moron.
C) Justin Bieber ingested large quantities of one or more mind altering substances before that interview.

I pay them no mind. I primarily just stick to my own music, and it's not like anyone's forcing me to listen to them. I don't listen to radio and I pay little attention to people who blasts their music in public. Hell, I don't even pay attention to any popular music these days. I never even heard of One Direction until a month or so ago.

The reason people dislike them? Well, I guess some people just need something to direct their hate and anger at to make them feel better about themselves, and those are just easy targets for them since they're so popular, and since so many people are on board they feel like they have something in common with other people. It's basically like bullying except you're not really directly hurting those individuals. Of course, there's some people who take that hatred too far.
