Ha ha I do that in school like every day and yes i think he has every right of freedom of speech (I'm not just saying that because I agree about obama's crappy performance as president)
But the guy been only in office for 3(right?) months trying to clean the mess that the other guy been doing for 8 years! :p
Everyone blames all of our countries on bush "bush's fault" broken record. Do some research and see what Obama's done so far and what he plans to do.
Did Obama start a pointless War in Iraq?If he does start a pointless war in any part of the world you can say he royally screwed up.

But thats not the point Obama just started his job and right now he has to clean the other guys mess, which seems that will take awhile.
Is Bush creating a "Youth Corps" thing. Open your eyes. Look at what he's doing
In this case I pull the ignorance card cause in this side of the Atlantic we dont get the full Obama agenda.

Last time I heard about his agenda was a bunch of bail out plans to banks and car makers that werent working that good, and some sort of socialist tax reform.(or something is late and I cant remenber to the fullest.).

But still 3 months is still to little time to judge a president, if in 6 months-1 year theres no clear sign of things improving then its better to start enter panic mode. :p

I'm willing to bet the kids expulsion wasn't solely caused be the obama comment, it was probably because he was consistently an ass who disrupted class. I would like to point out at this point that in school you actually do not have all your rights, this is a common misconception however in school they do get to decide what you can and can't say. now this generally means that anything you say that is disruptive is against the rules and if you do it repeatedly you can be punished for it. this law works under the concept that you can only do what won't disrupt the learning of any student.

Also the girl who didn't stand for the pledge didn't do anything wrong, in fact there was a supreme court case ruling that determined that students weren't required to stand for the pledge.

I'm more interested in the flag pledge incident. I don't know if I agree or disagree with her.

Oh, really, so it's bad to be an activist?

I didn't know that. Seriously. I bet someone in that teacher's class said the same thing aobut Bush at least once a week for the last eight years. Did they get expelled?

I smell racism.

A similar pledge thing happened to me but my teach is cool I'm like "A. im an atheist so the "under god part" and B. I know were "America the great and the best country ever" but honestly I hate America and would rather live in Canada or England" and he just said "kay".

I was truly expecting to get sent to the dean.

Edit: I actually got praised by him at the end of class because he said I was the only kid he ever met who actuaally realized our countries faults when everyone else is like "my mommy said americas ams teh best country so iz belive dat too lolol" of course.. not in the same words but you get the picture

What state is this in?

I ask this because in Georgia, where I am, not only can you get expelled for disrupting class, you can be arrested for it.

Good thing I'm not a skinhead. Either way I'm just harassing you for the fun of it.
Harrassing tired people who tend to lean towards violence to solve problems is BRILLIANCE.
Actually, read that without sarcasm, because you're doing it over the internet, and I can't hurt you here.

Physically.
I'd also like to mention I'm ordering my CMMG flash suppresser with carbide teeth and standoff device. Let's see how quick you can reach New York.
I don't even know what that means.
I will just stab you a lot with some objects.
It means my flash suppresser is designed to bring freedom to window panes across the world. (The carbide teeth are used to breach a window without damaging the barrel and the standoff device is used for breaching doors. )

Swearing in school? WHOAH! Gotta draw the line somewhere! I think suspension would be a better case in this situation, but maybe this was the last straw kinda incident?
1. damn is not a swear.
2. it wasn't because of that; it was because of perceived racism or something close to it.

This is like the Southpark kids thinking that the state flag (a black man being hanged while four white men stand around watching) was controversial because of the capital punishment debate.

Its funny that freedom of speech isnt allowed in schools any more. People treat free speech as free as long as long as it doesn't offend anybody. I hate to say this but its impossible to go through life without offending anybody is foolishness. Hell iam offended by socialism but it doesnt mean that i will try to beat up and shut up socialist's. Its free speech and they can say want ever they want. will i listen to then? no. but they still have the right to say it.

Wow.
That's actually rather surprising.
And in response to the claim that students don't have free speech rights in schools, that's not entirely true.
It's more or less decided on a case-by-case basis.

That's the feeling I'm getting. Otherwise it would be absolutely ridiculous.

Then again, I was suspended for three days when I got in a fight with someone in high school. This kid had been harassing me the entire year, and when I stood up and defended myself (after repeated warnings to the individual), I got suspended. The kid that kicked the crap outta me for standing up for myself? One day.

Gotta love the public school system.

He wasn't expelled for saying "cause that damn Obama" You said he was constantly a disruption, always getting in trouble, ect. Him disrupting class with a racists remark was just the final straw.
The administration finally came to their senses and expelled the spoiled brat is all.
Not to pick on this particular poster, a lot of people have been doing this.

Re-read the original post. The kid yelled "Cause that damn Obama!"...etc.

The original post described him as having a shaved head and being a right-wing activist.

THIS DOES NOT MAKE HIM OR HIS COMMENT RACIST.

Assuming that any criticism of Obama is based on him being black is actually racist in itself. This kind of attitude is dangerous, it prevents valid discussion about what Obama is actually doing.

About what the kid actually did, the disrupting class part is what should be a potentially expellable offense if it is repeated. If the class was having a discussion about, say, Obama's mortgage-saving program and the kid said "Cause that damn Obama..." (no jumping up or yelling) followed by an actual valid criticism of something he did, that should be perfectly fine (if a little strongly worded).

wow i cant believe you consider "damn" to be a swear, but i guess its just the way some people are brought up. if it was for swearing its a little over board to expel someone, jezz we say fuck and shit in class and the teacher just tells us to mind out language, but this is australia.

racism is a touchy subject, and schools dont want it around so they eliminate the source asap when it becomes visible. it really depends on how the child meant what he was saying
