First of all the Obama kid thing I can see where the kid got expelled but it should've been more like a suspension than anything. The pledge is a choice wether or not one feels comfortable in saying it because it does deal with a religious figure and the US. And it sucks for the kid who got burned, honestly he sounds REALLY stupid for even trying something like that, basically your school sounds really bad and is full of stupid people.

Is that really all? In SoCal? I don't know about this. When I went to high school, kids cussed all the time, and they would receive at most a reprimand. For the most part, it was ignored. Maybe he could have gotten a suspension if he was getting in trouble all the time, but that being the last straw?

If I were the teacher, I'd have punched him in the mouth for talking in class.

Who cares if he doesn't like Obama? He should be expelled for being a racist ("skin head" often means "racist," anymore.)
but isnt it his right to be a racist?

well u cant base it on racism cause it sounded like a speech on politics and obama is head deep in it so there is no case.

even if a kid stood up and started swearing his head off at obama for being a crappy president he wouldnt of been expelled unless your school happens to be a huge kiss ass to politics

Freedom of speech, if he wants to blame it on Obama (not my views at all) then that's his right. Although, the very point of that form of government gives people like that; that right ... so it's kind of a catch 22.

My guess is he was actually expelled for something else he did/said when he was getting spoken to.

Thank you to this man right here,

I have hair passed my shoulders by the way, just pisses me off some of the ignorance you get from some people.

Well, what if he said "Cause that damn Bush *insert phrase here*"?
He'd get a hearty laugh and nothing else.

Hey, me too! My hair is... *pulls one hair out*... 15 inches long.
The nerve of some people, thinking the least important aspect of their life has to be changed to meet their preferences.

I don't care if you like him or not. He IS our president.
This kind of sentiment I find a bit concerning - in a democratic society with free speech it should not be considered 'unpatriotic' to question authority and it's figurehead(s). I like Obama, but I find it disquieting when politicians become inspirational figures instead of functional bureaucrats.

I'm not calling you out on anything personally, Random - nothing you said was untrue and he WAS voted in, like it or lump it. However, your statement was a good example of a mindset I find concerning, although you may have meant it as I described it.
Ahhh. But the problem is, he's not MY president. I was not extended the opportunity to vote for or against him, meaning that I have no say, and when I turn eighteen, (during his term) I will have to pay for the mistakes that others have made. When I had no representation.
Ok, that's fair - he's your country's president, not yours, personally. However, that isn't really the issue I was bringing up.
Actually, my issue is that I don't like him, I didn't get to vote for him, but I will turn eighteen during his presidency. I have to live with him even though I didn't get to vote.
You think that's a raw deal? Australian (and maybe American, but don't quote me on that) soldiers were forced to go to war by the government they did not even vote into power. They were only 16, and were able to go to war, but not allowed to vote.

Really.. every time someone said "'cause that damn Bush" or something to that effect, there wasn't a word of complaint from anyone. But NOOOO.. not now! Bad skin-head!

Warning: Apparently, skin-heads are prone to saying what they actually think, disregarding P.C. Go them.

we say shit like that in our classes all the time and nothing happens
we (including the teacher) usually just laugh at comments like that, but he's not our president though so that maybe why

I just blame everything on him nowadays.

"shit, I put mustard on my sandwich. Its obamas fault. That bastard."

Not being racist or nothing. We just joke around.

Yup that fails. Do like this: Instead of you starting make him start.

Like the Sniper from TF2 video said "Have a plan to kill everyone you meet." ^^(maybe not kill...but always have a plan!)
I was REALLY passive back then. Besides, the dick had been throwing my books down the hall. I'd had quite more than enough after the third timein a row. I then proceeded to drive my foot square into his testicles.

He beat the crap outta me, but he won't be having any kids. Hehehe....

My guess is that he wasn't expelled for the first incident, but probably said something to offended the teacher afterwords, or had a previous incident.
At least thats what always happened to me, I would be in a minor amount of trouble but I always tried arguing with the teacher, or trying to justify my actions, and ended up digging myself into a deeper hole..
But I'm just speculating.

It seems a little to far-fetched for someone to get expelled for one line of dialogue.

I strongly disagree with this. First off, he if he is a racist, the statement you provided isn't racial. He didn't say "Obama's the cause because he's a n****r!". I would agree with him getting suspended for that one, maybe expulsion if this happened before. Also, the swearing aspect is bullshit. Everyone in my school swears in class. I have even heard teacher's swear quite casually. Not things like fuck and others, but basics like damn. And finally, I would love to see what would have happened to him if he had said the reason was because of that damn Bush! I bet there would be nothing done to him. To criticize Obama is like criticizing Jesus now I find since many people consider both to be messiahs.

Hey, I like Obama, but he should be up for mocking, and people should respect that. As long as he's in the public eye, there are going to be people that disagree with or dislike him. This is ridiculous though. Why doesn't your school call BO himself and ask him if the kid should be thrown out? I'm pretty sure he'd say no. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I thoroughly agree with the guy's idea of getting a lawyer. The school has oppressed his human rights, and that is just NOT ON.

Oh, and to answer the above...

*I* criticize Jesus. That doo has got a lot to ansuh fo' :D

My two cents :)

Note: This is not on any legit news and it probably won't get to big but it seems like it would make a good discussion.

Yesterday in my science class we were talking about a test we were going to take today and how we would have to share our opinions on spending tax dollars on studying space, which kinda went to the economic crisis. Before we could even talk for about a minute on the economy, a skin head right wing activist stood up and shouted "Cause that damn Obama!" (quote might be a word or two off, I can't remember every little thing) and was immediately sent to the office for a talking to. Today I found out that he was expelled from my school. After school I went onto MySpace to find that he posted a bulletin saying that he's getting an attorney. That's all I know.

Now a little about this kid. He is a skin head, a right wing activist, constantly getting into trouble, always disrupting class and probably would have eventually gotten expelled from something much smaller that disrupting class. I don't think he will take any legal action or if he even has a case but, I just wanted to tell my side of the story before anything happens.

Do you think this kid should have gotten expelled or does he have his right to freedom of speech? Let me remind you that this wasn't just another kid in the school, he is a skin head right wing activist and would have gotten expelled sooner or later.

Edit: Also, a couple of month ago, a girl in my English class got sent to the office for refusing to do the Flag Pledge (not expelled, just got yelled at). And last year another kid got expelled for bringing a chemical bomb to school. To bad he couldn't made the bomb correctly, all it could do is give him some intense burn on his hands.
Got a link to his MySpace?
