I assume it's been banned because of the bullying associated with the game.

And yeah, there is bullying in the game and yes, there are fights.

But I believe this is good for children. If you try to pretend to children that they will never be picked on, never bullied, never made fun of and never hurt - how the fuck are they going to function in the real world? Because all that stuff totally doesn't exist in the adult world...

I'm sick of this over sensitive reaction to "bully victims" and banning games and trying to morph reality.
You assume? There's an article in the first post. You almost certainly had to have seen it.
It was banned at my school because of the concept of the game. They said it was exclusionary.

That's a pretty amazingly stupid story right there. It isn't WBC stupid, but it's pretty far down there.

My opinion: What's with people and trying to make their kids wimps? Friggin stupid. Soon you'll have kids banned from going outside all the while people claim that video games are making kids stay inside too much. Friggin stupid.

at my highschool we can't play dodgeball during gym class so our coach came up with pinball it has pins as an alternative to hitting someone with a ball (but you still can) so it most definitely is not dogeball

First they ruin TV (the Cookie Monster), then they ruin video games (in California), now overprotective parents with "zero tolerance" are ruining kids' outside playtime.

Next thing you know, the only thing kids can do is sit in a chair. Not sit and play DS/PSP; not sit and watch TV; not sit and read. Just sit.

But wait! Sitting for too long will bruise their butt! So they stand.

But wait! That hurts their feet. Only solution: They must float.

But wait! They might turn upside-down and all the blood goes to their head and they die. Only ONLY solution: No more children!

But wait! That will make humans extinct! Final solution: ...Uh...Working on it.......

That goes too far. I'm now seriously tempted to go there with some friends and play tag just to spite them even though I'm already 20 and we would embarrass ourselves.

Hey what's that thing again which is pretty damn dangerous? I think it was called American Football.

Funny how the parents would never ban that game.

So much for the future of mankind. Kid's will grow up to be such underprivilaged pussies that North America and any other country sharing the same culture will be conquered as soon as they take power.
You meant to say overprivileged. More likely, you meant to mean overprotected.
moreso that they think that they can get away with anything... so overprivileged. Thanks for spotting that.

People are stupid.
It scares me how dumb people can get. I remember a friend telling me about another guy we knew. He came to the conclusion that he would be called a racist due to his stupidity and the fact that he talks about things he doesn't understand, usually ending in a (Unbelievably) offencive comment that he doesn't understand.

Just the other day the man in question was talking to a Korean guy about music. When the Korean dude pulled a a Korean piece of music.
The guy in question said, "Is that ALL in Chinese?"
That wasn't the racist part.
I told him that he was Korean.
He replied by saying "I'm sorry, I can't tell the difference. They all look all look alike."

The next time I talked to him I remember him saying:
"Called it."

It's because children don't play math rock.

Does anyone remember when there was a time parents could/would buy yard darts (javelins) for their kids. Those were fun days. "Hey Jimmy, hold real still. Im gonna see if I can throw this all the way to ya." :)

So on top of California parent's attempt to ban the Dictionary we have Florida residents trying to ban outdoor play. I think we have 2 states to force into the sea now. Pull Disney World and Universal up to Georgia and let the land sink.

Seriously? Kids playing together outdoors is one of the best ways to build social skills, boost their immune systems and just enjoy themselves. As long as the parents are responsible and attentive (shocking idea, I know) and teach their kids the old standbys of "look both ways", "don't talk to strangers" they will be fine. Everyone is far, far to wary of implausible dangers and coddling you child will not help.
Being a kid now must suck.
And I think we just solved the premature mental development part of kids these days (younger sex, drinking, 'rebelliousness', etc). Why wouldn't you emulate people older than you when being your own age sucks more than a vacuum cleaner on crack?

OT: When I was a kid, I played AFL (I quit because I was too competitive to enjoy it, but the game itself was fun), played with the other kids in the street by riding bikes down the hill, mucking around on the spare block next door and stuff. As I was growing up I flew over my handle bars, hit my knee with a hammer's nail-puller (ouch!), tripped, fell, scraped my knees, hands and elbows; basically the stuff a kid should do, and I turned out fine (I'm empathetic, kind, intelligent, I rarely get sick, I'm just as competitive as ever but I have great self-control, take losing in stride and take enjoyment from the journey, not the end result. Overall, I'd like to think that my parents did a very good job of raising me, and they were only 'protective' when I couldn't handle myself.

I still remember going outside to hit each other with sticks when sword fighting, playing hide and seek at night in the woods by my house at the time(which I think has become a development now), and climbing trees to get on the roof. I remember playgrounds with swings that we jumped off at the peak of their swing, monkey bars that we climbed over, under, and off of, merry-go-rounds where we got strong fast kids to push us around on, and slides that were great for greasing up and launching yourself off of. I had uncles that would toss me towards the ceiling, catching me as I fell.

And I remember loving every fucking minute of it.

parents need to trust that the adults they put in charge of watching and educating their children know what the fuck they're doing.

one of these days they're going to mandate that kids have to be in a sport due to obesity, and they're all going to be too obese or small to be competitive.

And this is why the U.S. has the highest obesity rates in the world. Absolutely incredible.
