This makes me sad. Games like tag toughen up little kids. It's unfortunate that certain areas believe pacifism is the way to go. That just makes the world a less badass place to live
Okay, but what led up to the injury? If it was tag, you are justified in your opinion, if it wasn't, then your reasons are unjustified, because if this thing gets passed, children would be put into $100 of debt every single time they wanted to play tag outside and forgot that the rule was there. I think this honestly isn't about keeping kids safe. That's just the excuse these people are hiding behind like the cowards they are.Blitzwing said:I have seen the other side and I remember the shame on my mothers face because she let me get hurt. That?s why this is acceptable.Chris646 said:I am aware that this is not political correctness, but an earlier topic also made me ashamed of humanity, and that was on political correctness, so I included that too. You fail to see what's wrong with parents trying to keep their kids from hurting themselves because you aren't really looking at both sides of the issue. There is nothing inherently WRONG with a parent wanting to keep their kids from hurting themselves, but for the kid, they see it as a nuisance because the way I see it, if a kid gets injured from doing an activity, they will associate it with pain and not engage in it anymore.Blitzwing said:This isn?t political correctness. and I fail to see what?s so wrong with parents trying to keep their kids from hurting themselvesChris646 said:Okay. This is the second time in the past 12 hours that I have been ashamed to be a human.
Here's a thought; every time a parent or adult attempts to outlaw fun or change something for political correctness
Y'know, those parents didn't have to move into a condo with no place to play. There are houses with yards in Edgewater, after all.Android2137 said:From what I can tell though, the parents find it stupid too. They aren't saying that their kids should be playing in streets or parking lots, but lack of playgrounds forces them to do so.
Oh yeah, at my Water ski club, we used to have a HUGE swing that swung out all the way to the middle of the river. Like, the river is about 20m across. And it was SOOOOOOO much fun. And one day, a parent who had been with the club for 1 WEEK, said that she didn't like it, so the club took it down. AND HER KIDS DIDN'T EVEN USE IT!!!meece said:Hah TAG? In my day we had a plastic handle on a bit of rope we pulled into the tree and swung down on that. If your grip slipped you'd be plowing into a inconveniently placed concrete path in the middle of the garden. Yes this did happen to multiple people on several different occasions.
I think someone ended up needing some dental work because of it. On the other hand damn was it fun.
Dude, me and my mates used to love that. We once tried Matrix tiggy, and we all started wall running and slow mo diving and shit. But then someone tried a backflip.... and ouch.PixelKing said:My weird buddies play tag out of sheer boredom. Because its better than sitting and discussing stuff as we all have different likes and dislikes. Its FUN because its childish. Its also dangerous, wall runs and the like.
Somebody did go to a parent. The parent said "My child can do what she wants". The point of the rule is to require parents to take responsibility for their kids.Titan Buttons said:I mean ok it dangerous for kids to play in the street but if your so scared of hitting them they should complain to the parents of the child to make them play in the backyard or something not bann them from going outside, that's inhuman and imprisonment.
That's even stupider! Unlike concrete, water doesn't hurt! Did she think you were gonna hit a boat or something? lol.Lil_Rimmy said:Oh yeah, at my Water ski club, we used to have a HUGE swing that swung out all the way to the middle of the river. Yep, out of 55 people, 1 newly joined person wrecked it all.
And the worse bit was, noone had EVER been hurt on it.
And really, her kids were too young to go on it anyway!meece said:That's even stupider! Unlike concrete, water doesn't hurt! A slow-mo backflip IRL? Yikes.Lil_Rimmy said:Dude, me and my mates used to love that. We once tried Matrix tiggy, and we all started wall running and slow mo diving and shit. But it was so much fun! just running around and making shit up. But now-a-days, all we do is sit around and talk, because most of the time we aren't allowed to play games at school.
Completly true, I can't help but pad my words out.PixelKing said:A slow-mo backflip IRL? Yikes.Lil_Rimmy said:Dude, me and my mates used to love that. I think you put it best in your previous post that if you put a kid outside he will improv and the more kids are there the move improv you get which can result in some pretty fun creations.
You realize it's the parents who pay the fine, right? If they were willing to pony up the dough for a place to play(whether through building a playground or paying the fine), this wouldn't be an issue.CheckD3 said:Maybe instead of fining kids for playing outside in parking lots, why not build them a playground?
