Killing off our favorite characters

Has there ever been a character in a game that you really felt for, a character that got you immersed in the game, only to get killed off ten minutes from the ending? I'm sure we've all felt that sting, I'm looking at you, companion Cube...

Well I am only assuming here but yeah your right he could be alive.

I liked him a lot his ruthless attitude and remarks made him one of my favorite NPC characters ever.

I felt the captain's death pretty hard too, but you're right, Price's death was never confirmed

Yeah that makes it worse because if they somehow put him in a sequel when if they say he died than that's bullshit!

I really liked the founder of Rapture in Bioshock, although his name escapes me.

I felt bad for everyone at the end of dreamfall:the longest journey. Remember that crap? Everyone freaking died!!!

Even though i knew it from the very beggining, i hated that the marine died in the SPOILERS (like you don't know already) nuclear explosion. Those parts where i played the marine were usually the best parts i played because i didn't need to "go silent" and wonder why the enemies havn't heard their comrad's gun fire next door.

But ironically, i'd have to say that my favorite mission is "All Ghillied Up" as i do like stealth every now and again.

I really hated the end of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 where

The Combine Advisors came in to the base and killed Eli.

It wouldn't have been so bad if the game hadn't ended right there, but then the screen faded to black and the credits started rolling and I just sat there, mouth agape for like three minutes.

I never killed Wrex, I talked him out of it, but picking between Kaiden and Ashley was painful
