Killzone 2 right game for PS3 but maybe wrong franchise?

Not surprising at all. I honestly expect there to be hundreds of returned copies at GameStop and related locations because fanboys will buy it because of the Halo name and be pissy that it "isn't a Halo game."delta4062 said:

Right now it seems that the instigators are a couple of 360 fanboys who are scared that Killzone 2 might provide competition for their precious Halo. There's a couple of Sony fanboys that are hyping it out of proportion, but they're relatively tame compared to the Microsoft fanboys. So there's a good-looking game coming out not for your system, so what? Maybe you should be happy that your opposite-console acquaintances now have a game that can compare to TEH AWESUMNSS TAHT IS HALO!!!!1!eleven1!!!
Note: I am a 360 owner. I owned a PS2 for 4 years, sold it this past summer, and got a 360 because I believed it to have the most staying power and a better game library. Killzone 2 and God of War 3 are the reasons I regret not having a PS3.
Halo, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Bioshock (Months before PS3), Oblivion (Months before PS3)

What reviews did you read?! All the reviews I saw gave it 5-7, maybe one or two 8's. It's a mediocre shooter at best. Has a lot of great ideas (most of them poorly implemented), great animations, and great graphics (for the time), but the hardware couldn't keep up and the AI sucked. I liked it, but it isn't a great game. It's just average.KayScaler said:

This game will sell like crack and be the most successful game and franchise for the PS3.
It does not have a great deal of competition in the sense that there is not a game of it's genre coming out on the same platform, so it will be fine. I also think the first game was great, the only thing it didn't do right for me was the exclusion of local multiplayer, otherwise I think it was a great game. I don't have a PS3 but this game was one of the reasons I would buy one. Plus the amount of hype for this game means that every sony fanboy and his dog will be buying this, so it's past means nothing.
Long story short KZ2 will sell millions, Guerilla games will buy mars and sony will still be making a loss on each console.

Not that I have much of a problem with most of those games (except for a preference to DMC over GoW), but... SINGSTAR? Seriously? My sister got that for PS2 and it is utter fail. Game doesn't even give you fair chance to learn the song, unlike Karaoke Revolution or Rock Band.Indigo_Dingo said:
Back on topic... whether it was the wrong franchise a couple of years ago or not, at E3, people were hyping Killzone 2 as the "actual" Halo killer (as opposed to all those other Halo killers that failed to kill Halo). There's no way Sony's going to drop that hype with a name change. Though if it wants to kill Halo, it'd better have hammers that can send tanks flying or I'll be seriously disappointed. It's already got a -1 against killing Halo for not having bright colorful graphics and alien midgets running around.
