After the makers of Killzone2 got it through their thick skulls that people wanted co-op, they decided to add it to Killzone3 this time around. And the results? Its a heaping pile of S@#%! Seriously this is some of the worst co-op ever embedded into a game. To start things off there is no co-op online, only local player. And I dont know why split screens do this when your already cutting the screen in half but they also chop off more of the screen so one is in the upper left hand corner and one is in the lower right hand corner. This helps nothing! The next thing is the look. Killzone3 alone looks amazing. With a friend... frame rate as you know is cutt in half but when its as obvious as a your friend stepping a foot away and then his textures immediately turn solid its just embarrassing. Probably why they made the screen so small so you dont notice how bad it is. Lastly, making your friend feel part of the game. Sev and (A** wipe) Rico are together most of the game so it seems reasonable to have the other person play as Rico right? Well they decided the other person was better off playing a silent Natko who wasn't even in the game at all. You dont ever see him in cut-scenes. Also when you or your partner die the other can not continue so you have to start over. Thanks for screwing us over guys!

Jesus, how can you botch it THAT hard? Gears of War did it better five years ago. Future Perfect did it perfectly in freakin' 2002! Are they just ignoring a decade of refinement?

I have no F***ing clue. I still bought the game and love it (Spite its lack luster story), just dont do the co-op. Passing the controller is much better. TRUST ME @_@

Future Perfect, whilst really damn great, didn't quite manage the co-op it perfectly. You lost out on at least one of the future Cortez sections whilst playing co-op, which is a shame because they were the best parts of the game.

On a completely unrelated note, YES! I HATED Natko so much!

*Ahem*

OT: That's a shame that there isn't any online co-op. I doubt any of my friends who want to play split screen.... Assuming I ever get the game.

Yeah, the section with four Cortez never happens in co-op. I know because I played through the game in co-op before playing it through singleplayer and was amazed to discover this awesome section that I hadn't played before. =P

Me neither :p. I only played co-op with my roommate. It never occurred to me that the singleplayer might be different.

Well I guess I'll have to replay it now, wheee!

Its because Killzone is one of the blandest and most horribly boring games ever made. Even the name makes me want to yawn.

The only reason its popular is because its an exclusive and PS3 owners wanna say "Hey! up yours 360, we have more sci-fi exclusives than you!".
I'm so glad I didn't even rent it like I'd been planning too before planning it at my mates.

At least this is better than only having online co-op, or even only having online multiplayer, which is completely ridiculous. Having both is definitely better than one only though.

It might just be me but im getting the feeling Im the only one who wasn't annoyed with Natko. What made him so bad? Compared to Rico he was quite enjoyable.

It keeps the two screens in the same aspect ratio of the native resolution. Otherwise you either have to crop and limit your view or stretch and make everything look bad.

I must be weird or maybe old. I LIKE co-op on the same system it's insane how many games could and DON'T include it. I live with the person i play games with most and my wife and i are not going to buy two systems and two copies of every fricken game on ps3.

Though obviously they should always give both options. I didn't notice that poor a frame-rate slowdown.

I do too! The split screen is what pushed me to get it in the first place. I only mention no online co-op because alot of people prefer that. I still highly suggest getting Killzone3. But if you play with your wife or friends pass the controller. Trade off after every checkpoint or someone dies, whatever you decide is fair and you will have alot of fun.

You want your friend to "feel part of the game" but you want the ability to progress through levels without him even after he's died? Yeah sounds you're like complaining about stuff just for the sake of it.

They don't.

Most games either crop the screen vertically or horizontally in order to fit the two screens to the whole viewing area, stacked vertically or side by side. Offsetting the two screens with a little blank space seems to be becoming more popular as more people would rather be able to have a wider viewing angle than for the screen to take up a larger portion of the screen.

I didn't like rico, either. Natko was just god awful. His character pretty much consisted of shouting "fuck!," commenting on peoples' mothers, and having easily one of the most annoying voices i've heard in a long time. Also he wouldn't die when I shot him.
