You want your friend to "feel part of the game" but you want the ability to progress through levels without him even after he's died? Yeah sounds you're like complaining about stuff just for the sake of it.
they should let you spawn on your partner after a set time or as soon as he hits the checkpoint witch isn't incredibly far away. Im not saying leave his ass till the next level lol. I get where your coming from but when you play this game and your almost done with a long fight and someone falls or miss judges how for down a jump is and they die. Gets old real fast let me tell you.

And I dont know why split screens do this when your already cutting the screen in half but they also chop off more of the screen so one is in the upper left hand corner and one is in the lower right hand corner. This helps nothing!
It keeps the two screens in the same aspect ratio of the native resolution. Otherwise you either have to crop and limit your view or stretch and make everything look bad.
Then why have so many other games done it and it looks great?
They don't.

Most games either crop the screen vertically or horizontally in order to fit the two screens to the whole viewing area, stacked vertically or side by side. Offsetting the two screens with a little blank space seems to be becoming more popular as more people would rather be able to have a wider viewing angle than for the screen to take up a larger portion of the screen.
And thats just an other reason I hate everything popular. CoD, Justin Beiber. . uh.. *Light bulb!* Twilight. All God awful

On a completely unrelated note, YES! I HATED Natko so much!

*Ahem*

OT: That's a shame that there isn't any online co-op. I doubt any of my friends who want to play split screen.... Assuming I ever get the game.
It might just be me but im getting the feeling Im the only one who wasn't annoyed with Natko. What made him so bad? Compared to Rico he was quite enjoyable.
I didn't like rico, either. Natko was just god awful. His character pretty much consisted of shouting "fuck!," commenting on peoples' mothers, and having easily one of the most annoying voices i've heard in a long time. Also he wouldn't die when I shot him.
I'm sorry, are people actually debating the characters of Killzone 2 and 3? I thought it was an iron law of gaming that every "good" character in Killzones 2 and 3 were despicable twatrackets.
O they are. We are just discussing who is less awful.

Its because Killzone is one of the blandest and most horribly boring games ever made. Even the name makes me want to yawn.

The only reason its popular is because its an exclusive and PS3 owners wanna say "Hey! up yours 360, we have more sci-fi exclusives than you!".
I'm so glad I didn't even rent it like I'd been planning too before planning it at my mates.

Uh no, people like it because its actually good, not just becuase its a ps3 exclusive. I for one like Killzone, espicialy the Helghast which are awesome.

I actually managed to down everyone and then they all somehow magically were able to revive themselves and kill me. Cotten headed niny mugins!

Guerilla games are a great technical studio... but they don't have the game design right.

Sony has loads of studios, they need to team Guerilla Games artistic/tech capability with a studio that knows how to make really engaging gameplay.

i get what your saying, gears of war does it perfectly where you bleed out until your partner can come revive you, which is actually an ADVANTAGE as the single player doesn't allow this to happen, if you get downed, your done, the computer ally can't come revive you which is fucking bogus

Not I. I'm getting the shaft already by using an SD tv, this just makes it near unplayable.

Off topic: Speaking of botched multiplayer, it couldn't be as bad as Blop's split screen.
Horrible frame rate dips, no levelling (which was there in MW2), no spec-ops, but worst of all:

No freaking option to turn on radar.

I'm sure most of you know that maps are pretty big, and playing with 2 or 3 players could get pretty dull. Having constant radar on keeps the action more constant. But no. You can't turn it on. You could turn it on in 4. You could turn it on in WaW. You could turn it on in MW2 (in fact, whilst MW2 was flawed, they did a bang up job on making split screen a lot better.)

But no. In Blops they obviously didn't give a shit and just forgot to put it in. It's literally the laziest thing I've seen in a triple A game.

It's a shame, Killzone is a series i honestly WANT to like, but it just doesn't deliver. The concept is perfect, the graphics, setting, enemies, weapons, the hyper-realistic reloads, everything is in the right place to make a blockbuster shooter, but theres just something missing. Something about the gameplay just isn't fun to me, and yet i know the games SHOULD be great. I don't know if there is a designer somewhere crying himself to sleep because they butchered his vision of the perfect FPS, but i just can't get into it. My favourite KZ so far has been Liberation on the PSP, which kind of speaks for how i feel about the other games.
As for the coop, it's a good idea (a very LATE idea, i might add) but after watching some videos of it, wow, that's BAD.
I'm a big fan of coop games, Gears, Halo, Army of Two, to name but a few, which of course led me to go for the 360 rather than the PS3 despite my last two generation consoles being the PS1 and PS2. I got KZ on the PS2, and while the overall feel of the game was great, i just couldn't play past the dock level because i was so bored. I have been looking for an excuse to get a PS3 lately, and while i was hoping that excuse would be Killzone, it just doesn't look like it's going to deliver.

I understand completely. Dead Space was the exact same way for me. But trust me Killzone3 Is absolutely a great game. The campaign ( Yet lacking in story ) is like a fun roller coaster. Better yet think of it like the old arcade games. You put in a coin just to do the same thing you've done a hounded times just because the excitement it gives. Plus the multiplayer is worth it alone if you like multiplayer even in the slightest.

Thats what happens when you try to do too much..
the entire extent of halo CE's co op was adding in a second master chief and vertically dividing the screen in half. not hard. it doesn't even have to be important for the story, just as long as the co op mode functions well.

even adding online isn't too difficult, just modify a multiplayer lobby to lead to the single player map loading screen with the co-op programming (adding the extra controller)

edit: i'm not a programmer and don't know how to do this, but one of my friends is and said it's not too difficult, especially considering all the rest of the programming you have to do to make a game

And now this game has just lost any appeal it had to me. Killzone and Killzone 2 failed to live up to what they were said to be, and promised to be in trailers, so Killzone 3 was already being passed by. Then I heard there would be co-op. That brought me back, but I kept hearing that it wouldn't be online, then I heard that it would be. Thank you for finally clearing this up. That's sixty dollars I don't have to spend now. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a third time...uh, no thank you, I guess.

They were too busy adding 3D and motion controls to think about that stuff..

Well no I don't own a 360, I only have it because of GFWL. Though it still applies since I do love playing my PC and Halo is one of my favorite series.

After the makers of Killzone2 got it through their thick skulls that people wanted co-op, they decided to add it to Killzone3 this time around. And the results? Its a heaping pile of S@#%! Seriously this is some of the worst co-op ever embedded into a game. To start things off there is no co-op online, only local player. And I dont know why split screens do this when your already cutting the screen in half but they also chop off more of the screen so one is in the upper left hand corner and one is in the lower right hand corner. This helps nothing! The next thing is the look. Killzone3 alone looks amazing. With a friend... frame rate as you know is cutt in half but when its as obvious as a your friend stepping a foot away and then his textures immediately turn solid its just embarrassing. Probably why they made the screen so small so you dont notice how bad it is. Lastly, making your friend feel part of the game. Sev and (A** wipe) Rico are together most of the game so it seems reasonable to have the other person play as Rico right? Well they decided the other person was better off playing a silent Natko who wasn't even in the game at all. You dont ever see him in cut-scenes. Also when you or your partner die the other can not continue so you have to start over. Thanks for screwing us over guys!
Yeah right? They should of just added no coop. Nothing is better than something right?

/s

Did you not notice all the things going on on the screen and the high level graphics? Its surprising that it even has coop but NO people have to ***** even though they took all that effort to squeeze coop in there. Why don't you make a thread about the lack of coop in Bulletstorm?

Its good to hear that a fanboy thinks lowly of the game. I was completely shocked to hear that type of fanboyism on this site though.

I'm also surprised to hear that you have played KZ3 to its completion and thoroughly played the MP to make your statement....or even played KZ2 for more than 5 minutes for that matter.

Tell me the other games that look as good as KZ3 and is coop. All the great coop games these days aren't benchmarking the systems.

Well, if there's something worth doing, it's worth doing it right. It's not all good in the hood if you're given a choice, if only one choice isn't absolute shit. If you're given the choice the choice to play a well polished game or a piece of raw sewage, you'd choose the well polished game. Yeah, it's a choice, but it's not really much of a choice.

With that said, I'm not saying the Co-Op of Killzone 3 is that bad. I didn't play it myself yet, but the complaints seem blown out of proportion.
