Why do people love Kingdom Hearts so much???

I don't think I'll ever understand it... Well I get that the game will always win the anime nerd vote right out of the gate, but seriously... it's so emo, and it has Disney characters! How do you take a game with Mickey Mouse in it seriously?

The music is ehhhhhh as well. Actually I think I'm giving the soundtrack too much credit. It makes me want to pull my teeth out, but that's just my opinion.

With all due respect, what the hell are you talking about? There's nothing "emo" (Damn I HATE that word) about Kingdom Hearts. I don't know where you get that from.
As for why I enjoyed it, well I thought it had a very surprisingly deep story while at the same time getting in touch with that little kid inside me.

Oh, I looked up the plot on wikipedia one day, and the whole thing screamed contrivance and forced drama.

Too FF7 for me. Give me some believable characters with believable motives, and I'll buy into it.

I see the Disney stuff as a mere sideshow. I don't like the game because it tries too hard to be "serious and dramatic" with deep and tortured characters. Interestingly enough, that's the same reason I turn my nose up at most anime.

I stand corrected. I now can totally see where you're coming from, but I'm a complete sucker for the story and the characters anyway.

No it isn't, and you'd probably discover that yourself if you'd actually play the games instead of relying on a plot synopsis on wikipedia. But whatever, you asked a question and I answered it. It doesn't matter to me if you like those games or not.

Don't play that game on these forums, comrade. I can degrade any game you find mildly amusing into childish stereotypes with little to know knowledge about the game, too.

Why bother creating a thread if you're not open to ideas from people who enjoy it? You're no better than the people who complain about Halo 3 or WoW because it's the cool thing to do. You're far too wrapped up in your own ethos to make heads or tales of anything anyone will say.

They could tell you that they enjoy the story, or that they find the characters fun. They could say that taking any video game seriously is a waste of time. To you, though? They're craaaaazy JRPG stereotypes and anyone who likes them is clearly an anime emo.

If you've made up your mind that you don't like JRPGs or anime or Disney then you won't like this game. Discussing it will just end up with you antagonizing those who do because they don't, surprisingly, share your point of view.

its a fun game for those who enjoy it and i dont think it has anything to do with anime or emo as i despise both of these things but love the kingdom hearts series (also by series i mean 1 and 2). for some (and no i didnt look at your profile to find out how old you are) the problem may be thinking of disney characters as childish things and not well developed characters. IMO if you look at either game with open eyes you will find an enjoyable experience with interesting characters.

Congratulations, you ended your own thread before it even began. I'll say this slowly,

People, (thats all those other folks outside your house)
Have, (as in they honestly possess it.)
Different, (as in not the same as yours)
Opinions. (things they hold true, but don't have any mathematical truth.)

The question isn't "Why do people love ___________ so much???", the question is, "why do people have different opinions than me???"

So is there a rhyme or reason? Hell no. As soon as you delve into someone else's mind, all bets are off. You don't get to ask why, you just have to accept it. Or you could go picket something like the Westboro Baptist Church, your choice.

Speaking of Kingdom Hearts, how many Escapists have played 358/2 Days? I found it very enjoyable despite the limited capacity, and definately a worthy addition to the series.
It had a very good, and cohesive plote (Although the pacing could've been much better), and it actually turned Roxas into a likeable character for me (He had way to little screentime in KHII to warrant hes near demi-god status among most of the fans...)

One thing I WILL say about KH is the plot is convoluted and retarded. But then i've only played the PS2 games, not the PSP ones. Making me buy a 2nd console to get the whole story = failure tactic of failure, Squeenix.
