There are likeable parts and I had enough fun to get through both of them, and I love Disney so getting to go explore the other worlds was fun. I guess I just expected to like it more.
So why is this game so popular?
What is it that I'm missing? (Or not missing?)
Do you like the series?
Well, I liked the first two games because I enjoyed how seamlessly the FF spells merged with the more active gameplay. I said to myself, why can't FF12 be this fun?
Also, I liked the weird alternative look at the Final Fantasy world. Seeing a world where Aeris and Cloud could be together made me "Awww!" , and I liked how the other FF characters were wrapped in. It was neat. At times, I was like "Wow, I wish I could stick around here and do less with that Disney stuff," but all in all it really didn't harm my enjoyment.
Oh, and while the plot of game 1 put me to sleep (except when the cast of FF showed up), the second one was really interesting. I liked the Nobodies and Namine... less so Organization 13 (not sure why they're so popular, but whatever). Plus, Sora got to grow up some.
And then I played the PS2 port of Chain of Memories. Or I should say, I played half of it. I haven't been back to the series since. Ugh. If they release a Kingdom Hearts 3, I'll play it, but I'm so sick of these side-games that use different mechanics. I'm not here to play cards - I'm here to play Final Fantasy on meth. ^^
