I have a K-Bar US army knife and a switchblade.

K-Bar looks like this except it has a compass and a mini-survival kit in the hilt, and the switchblade looks like this.

I don't carry them usually, no, I don't want to get arrested and I've never had to get into a situation where I've had to use a knife, here's hoping I don't. I have taken them out a couple of times, but that was if I was in a bad neighbourhood, which I very rarely am.

EDIT: Incidentally, the macho film lover in me would love to get the Rambo knives, although the third one is a bit ridiculous, more of a machete than a knife.

They're mostly for camping or hunting or anything like that. I got them for home defense, but I have a rifle now so it's a moot point.

I wonder why all nerds seem to own knives? Maybe it's a self-esteem thing.
I actually won a 12 inch Rambo knife on eBay. It's the survival edition and comes with a compass in the hilt, waterproof matches, fishing line, and hooks. I can't wait to see how it all fits together. Should be here next week.

I also live down the street from a pawn shop which is across the street from....another pawn shop, so it's not the best neighborhood and self-defense is a real issue. I carry a knife in my car, but now I'm considering carrying one on my person. Don't get me wrong, I'm skilled in hand-to-hand, but it's not much good against a gun.

I have a dive knife. Or I would, my Mom hasn't sent it up here yet. But once I start traveling to scuba dive it will definitely come in handy incase and certain Mr. Bonds tries to infiltrate my base...

A Swiss Army knife.

Hey, it comes in handy whenever I have to get food out of my teeth, but I do want to get something a little bigger.

For general use.

For decorative purposes. I love ridiculous display knives, so pretty.

I have a WWII Ka-Bar, a Western Boulder <url=http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q9/trail_hawk/westerns-1.jpg>knife (the big one), several folding knives. I've also got an axe, a hatchet, and am looking to pick up a nice new Bowie or Buck.

I prefer swords and I own three already. (Hoping to increase my collection, I've only just started this interest.)

Although I would like to get some knives and I've been thinking about buying these.

I want the second one, mainly for how bad ass it looks, plus they will only be for display purposes.

*calls police*

Uhmm, this thread makes me feel awkward in the way that walking in on someone performing a disembowelment ceremony would make me feel awkward. Ahh well, this is why we have the internet.

OT: Personally I would like a fixed blade knife. Those special high carbon content ultra hard steel army knives are strangely... compelling and... alluring. o_O So shiny and sharp. Although not as good as a Katana ( Japanese straight sword) in a fight, you can pull a knife out much faster and end the fight before it begins. /inner psychopath.

It's less impressive, but I don't think a bat'leth can really be called a "knife"

That's not a knife.

Cookies for reference.

On topic: I don't, nor do I intend to, carry a knife. I just don't feel the need for it. Besides, if I need something for self defence, I suppose I could use my keys.
Crocodile Dundee. Now, I shall make my own reference, "Guns are for shows, knives are for pros."

Probably a little off, it's been awhile since I... NO! Almost gave you a clue there...

OT: I have too many urges to stab people to ever trust myself with a knife.

Sweet or Potato.

Sweet: Has to be warm with cream

Potato: I have 4, Browned, 2 with tomato sauce and 2 with Tabasco sauce.

Infact I just finished a plate of potato waffles.
......I like waffles too 0_O

Halo or Half-Life? (or both I suppose....)

I used to routinely carry a Swiss Army Knife that was a gift from work - it had about 20 functions and was a bloody handy thing to have around. These days I just don't trust the law to not act like dicks even though the main blade was theoretically "legal" so it is in a drawer. And the main blade is a it bent and I have no idea how that happened - I guess I could send it to Victorinox as I believe that they have life time guarantee. But there's no point really.

I have a katana/wakizashi set (daishó). Both made via traditional methods, and they're very expensive.

And very, very, very sharp.

It's called a kukri, not a Ghurka. The Ghurkas used them.
