Not a game but... The Simpsons knocking off Family Guy
... did you mean that the other way around? Simpsons is just a tad older than Family Guy and IMO Simpsons isn't that funny.
Just a Tad?

The Simpsons started in the 80s, Family guy was late 90s, if not 2000s
I know this concept might be a little abstract to the average internet surfer, but here you go:

umm... I think you got it the other way around. The simpsons is the longest running animated show ever, family guy was created some years later to capitalize on their success

EDIT: ninja'd

Bioshock ripping off the retro-future 50's of Fallout. It really added to the atmosphere of the game.
In Bioshock the game isn't retro-futuristic it takes place in the 60s

And how does it rip off zelda exactly?

Before you say "the dog thing", consult wikipedia. Okami was made before twilight princess.

We didn't have robots, genetically enhanced mutants, and underwater cities in the 60's. It is retro-futuristic.

Red Dead Redeption. Knocked off Gun, but made it good.
How exactly? The only thing they have in common is the setting.
I thought they had in common 2 things Western Sandbox, so that sounds about the same to me.

Yugioh abridged anyone?
Awesome series.
DBZ abridged as well. I think I actually care about the parody characters more than the originals.

If you mean unintentional or surreptitious rip off, I like Medal of Honour more than BBC2 or MOD2/BLOPS.

Wait my definition of Retro-Futuristic might be wrong but in the game it is the 60s and for all purposes the rest of the world is just as the 60s was, except there is a Hush Hush Underwater city with unchecked scientific advancements which (i think) does not make it retro-futuristic
Correct me if I'm wrong

How come anything that's even remotely similar to something else is automatically considered a knock-off?

I don't know. Let's just agree that they ripped off Fallout for the game's setting.

"The dog thing" is irrelevant, did you actually ever play Okami? Or a Zelda game for that matter? The entire structure of the game is set up exactly like a Zelda game. It has the same "Go until you hit an obstacle, find item to beat obstacle, go until you find next obstacle, repeat" that every Zelda game is built upon. Simply swap out the equipment with brush techniques. Hell, you even have a bouncing, glowing fairy friend who gives you advice. In fact, "the dog thing" and the general setting are pretty much what separates the two.

Alright sounds good although I did just look up the definition and yes that is Retro-futuristic sort of so you win

1. Family Guy came out years after the Simpsons
2. Family Guy rips the Sipmsons off (and fails at making it funny)
3. while Family Guy has it's moments, The Simpsons is more consistantly good and funny, plus I acctually care about the characters.
4. and yes, nowadays, the Simpsons is just "meh", but there are still a few episodes that can get a laugh from me

Saints Row is better than new GTA hands down, I've had people try to argue me wrong. But let me ask you this, can you go streaking in GTA? Can you spray literal shit allover the city? Can you do insurance fraud where the goal is to break yourself?

I rest my case.

Damn. I was really hoping you wouldn't have a valid answer.
Yeah, I've played Okami, but not Zelda. Isn't the whole dungeon navigation thing a small part of it though? Is Okami not unique enough to be judged on it's own merit??

To be honest, I don't know because of the aforementioned. I just really like Okami.

So anyway, sincere soz.

Actually, Rapture itself shares Art-deco designs common of the 1950's, not the 60's. The place was built and lived in during the 50's; Jack shows up late to the party.

But that is beside the point, Bioshock is most definitely retro-futurism. Its simply retro-futurism...set during the time period it is based off of. Present-futurism, I guess? You could replace Rapture's pipes and ADAM for microchips and nanobots and the story wouldn't change (hell, it'd be System Shock 2), but the designers very deliberately went for a "Cyberpunk if Cyberpunk was written in the 50'" look. Hence, Retro-Futurism.

After all, most Steampunk still takes place in Victorian London, regardless of the technology, if you see my meaning.

Batman is a rip-off of Zorro (allegedly) and the X-Men are a rip-off of the Doom Patrol (allegedly).
