If I were in the US and followed all this "OMGLOL IT'S NEAR CHRISTMAS I MUST SPECLIA BUY AND STUFF!" instead of getting everything online a few weeks before hand, I would actively not go to that store chain.

Ta-da! Advertising. Does it matter the song is horrible? No. Because people will be talking about it, and that's word-of-mouth advertising you can NOT pay for. Thanks for being a part of the machine!
Thank you for that attempted "you should feel like a dick" post. Let me say that if this influences ANYONE into buying merchandise at Kohls then they are a corporate zombie. Also, have you bought anything EVER at ANY store? Then you are a part of the "machine".

the sound wasn't synched on my computer, so that made it extremely weird, but I'd say it was a better commercial than most that i've seen this year. It did not produce any homicidal rage, anyway.

Does the rage come from the fact that they're using that song by the girl that everyone hates?

I think we should praise Kohl's for what they have done. I didn't know a company could sum up everything that is wrong with American culture in one single, 30 second commercial. The only thing it was missing was fat people eating McDonald's.

Edit: Wow 666 posts. I should never post anything ever again.

The fact that Black Friday exists and that this kind of behaviour is encouraged is more troubling to me that the commercial itself.

People will shop there regardless. All the angry basement dwellers will show this to their moms in a fit of rage and the only thing their mothers are going to see is a cute video and a potential place to shop. Clever advertising.

Watch as that shop near-instantly plummets into bankruptcy now. Heheheh.
Or watch as the sales go up even further, people may hate the ad but they will remember the ad and will spread it even further. Heheheh

Im from england and had never heard of Kohls.. I googled them after this. Smart advertising.

I bet ad companies were bidding like crazy for the rights to use the song noise.

Great commercial. Bit of a rip on the Friday song and genuinely pretty funny. That's what Black Friday is like, if very watered down.

I love Kohls, great store, great commercial.

Man, this is almost as nasty as the Littlewoods christmas ad where the kids thanks their mums for the christmas present buying when some of them are only like six to ten years old.

Except the black friday ad is probably deliberately nasty and blatently consumeristic. It's AIMED at those kinds of people.

The latter, however:
Sexist, spoils christmas for little kids and the grand total of everything "bought" in this ad runs into the thousands all under a cutesy guise of a christmas play.

Not to mention the worst crime of all...

...A kid calling a KINECT AN XBOX!

For contrast, here's a GOOD christmas ad:
