It sounds like the whole Blue Box thing could be coming to a head sooner than later from a second hand source to Sony -

“I’m certain that the Death Stranding: Director’s Cut tease was a Abandoned is a Silent Hill game. I know this is all confusing, but when you see how Kojima intends to brings things together, it will all make a lot of sense. Fans can expect exciting news about their favourite franchises very soon. I promise,” the source responded.

An earlier story detailed something very similar about the recently revealed Abandoned trailer -

“Sony still own the domain for BLUE BOX game studios and decided to revive it for the Silent Hill ARG marketing stunt to give the ‘fake studio’ a bit of validity. Hasan Kahraman is not a real person. The studio used to exist but doesn’t any more. It’s a front for Sony Studios.”

“I don’t know the terms of the deal but I’m pretty sure Sony figured out a work around by bringing in Kojima Productions as a third party to ‘help’ development, but I do know that Hideo Kojima has full creative control of both Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid,” the insider concluded.

Grain of salt ‘n all that, but this all seems to be a bit too persistent and detailed to end up a joke.

Rumor and speculation aside, assuming all of it is true, it doesn't really seem to me like Konami is returning to video games.

More like Konami licensed some of its IPs out to Sony, letting their studios do the actual video games.

Meanwhile Konami can sit on its ass, watch the royalties flow, and, I dunno, act like it is a relevant player again.

If we end up getting even a fraction of what was on display in P.T., then I'm happy.

It sucks that the bloated tick that is Konami, parasitising great IPs and contributing nothing of value, is still sitting atop MGS & SH and will be draining the profits. But at least the artistic vision won't just go down the toilet.

Giving Hideo Kojima full creative control is a terrible idea. The man is a bad writer and an even worse project manager. He must be under someone else's control or otherwise his projects will end up like MGSV - unfocused and ultimately unfinished, or like Death Stranding - confusing and boring as shit. Previously he was limited by the technology of his time, but now he can do just about anything that he can imagine, but his imagination must be constrained and focused.

Rehire Kojima to finish Silent Hills and make a Director's Cut of MGS 5 and then I'll care.

I highly doubt that. I still hate new Konami, and I'm not holding my breath. Make a good Contra and MGR2, then maybe. I 1000% doubt it will not happen either.

I'll settle with a remake of MGS 1 and 3 if they hire a worthy developer that can pull it off.

Same with the Silent Hill classics.

AND RELEASE RONDO OF BLOOD + SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT COLLECTION ON SWITCH ALREADY!

ITS STILL IN PS4 ONLY

He already did that, they're not making another one. Not to mention OG MGS1 itself was a sequel to MG2: Solid Snake. The latter itself a sequel and remake to MG1. And MGS2 is a deconstructed remake of MGS1. That's 4 technical and 1 legit remake already.

3 if they hire a worthy developer that can pull it off.
Not gonna happen.

I would not mind, but it's most likely gonna be a new stand alone story.

Well that sucks; I did not know. Weird Konami decided to do that. They literally have nothing to gain other to be vindictive assholes.

I guess pachinko machines didn't end up panning out?
Konami financials report - FYR2021

Given they made an additional 82billion yen this financial year compared to last financial year, I have a feeling the pachinko is paying off big time. I mean it’s fucking gambling, and even with Japan’s arcane laws on the subject their casinos - like most legal ones that are well run - make money hand over fist.

If I hear nothing by the end of August, if its September 1st and nothing, then these rumors are bulllshit.

Because "Very Soon" to me is next week or 2.

You're going past delusional and heading straight in to delirious, if you think news will crop that soon.

Well then I can't figure it out, because Konami has made it clear that it hates video games and despises gamers.

I’m not hugely fond of ‘Gamers’ myself but I attribute this to my age rather than genuine negative experiences but if I had a thing to sell them you bet your ass I’d sell it to them.

Regardless, the point is I'm not gonna be jumping on my bed in excitement for whatever news pop out. Especially if does come out this month.

Konami had it's golden age in the 80s/90s and maybe early 00s(SH2) but long before it 'officially' withdrew from AAA game development it hadn't produced anything worthwhile anymore other than Metal Gear. Konami just have long moved on to more profitable venues. But yeah Konami might still be interested in licensing deals b/c it's free money for them. If they wait any longer IPs like Metal Gear and Silent Hill will only still exist in the minds of middle aged gamers.
