  • Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
  • MGS1 Original
  • MGS2
  • MGS3
  • MGS4 - Be warned, cut-scenes and over explaining every plot line in the series does get tiring and nerve wracking.
  • Metal Gear Rising -My favorite!
My bad. I meant Metal Gear-series fan. Someone that presumably has played all or most of those titles.

Sidenote: what would you recommend to a Metal Gear fan who cannot fulfill their fix due to Konami's lack of new titles?

I haven't played the series, but my understanding is that if you boil them down to the core elements they are stealth games with cinematic aspirations, dealing with modern day politics. I don't know if there are any other game that fits that description.
There's a game called UnMetal coming out....sometime in the near future, which looks like a loving homage to the series.

Edit:: Brawlman beat me to it. Serves me right for not checking the last page of the thread first.

I have you thank any way. You were the first person to bring it up in a different topic, and I thought of you when trying to remember the game.

I’d still throw MGS: Ground Zeroes and MGSV in there simply due to the incredible gameplay systems, but if going purely for story stuff then there’s these

I don't think they ever went away, they just have been shit for the better part of the last decade.

But yeah if somehow through this I get a competent zone of the enders game for the modern era I am willing to forgive them. Zero expectations though.

While Konami was unsurprisingly shit, their devs who went on to found their own indie company and got like 5 million bucks on kickstarter to make a Suikoden spiritual successor are hard at work.

New trailer for Eiyuuden. I'm a backer and this is the first thing I ever backed on KS so I'm more than happy to see it materialize so nicely.

Oh man, that is looking awesome. I wonder if it will be able to have anything as amazing at the Luca Blight boss fight... or should I say fights.

The only useful thing Konami has done is the Cowabunga Collection. Even then, Digital Eclipse is the one doing the porting and remastering.

One can hope haha. It definitely will have a million and one minigames and more chars than you know what to do with and fort sieges and 1v1 duels and so on. Also an extensive cooking minigame, since every char's profile lists their favorite food, and there's gonna be 110 chars so 110 foods at least! XD

Are we counting the Castlevania collections in here as well because those were pretty good(at least the first one was, I haven't played the 2nd yet)?

Contra and Castlevania are a definitive yes. Those two port jobs were done by M2. The 2nd collection is great from what I've seen, but I do not know who did the porting job this time.

I'm sad we might not even get ports for the DS Castlevania games since you know, they heavily utilize the Dual Screen aspect.

Unless they redo the game from scratch and make it work on a single screen.

That's really the only way it could work. The Switch would be perfect fit for the DS games. I never cared too much for them, nor the touch screen controls, yet if they improved or got rid of the touch screen finishers, I would consider the change a huge improvement.
