Make him famous? Because a psycho like that isn't on the watch list of a dozen (special) police agencies? Don't sweat it, someone like that is known already.

As for why he's still out and about, well that answer is simple; because Africa is completely fucked up thanks to the humongous clusterfuck that is global politics. They're still sovereign countries, certain parties we Western countries can't really piss off have interests there, etc etc.

It's like an Aristocrats joke executed on a global scale. A sad affair, but not one that's going to change any time soon. Sorry.

So thats what all this fuss and constant linkage has been about.

As noble a cause as this probably is, why cant we just send in special forces to slot this guy? Or better yet, actually pool up resources to go after Bashar al Assad effectively.
"The Americans are making mistake. They will never take Al Asad alive!"
I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

OT: I watched the video and will probably donate a few bucks through Tri, but I wont be able to attend any of the rallies or anything.

So what? People are only now aware that the sick shit that goes on in Africa has been going on in Africa?

Yeah cause all it takes is a legion of keyboard warriors to change the world right?

....Damn I came to this thread in a cynical mindset.

Once again. This Kony campaign is nothing short of bollocks. The Ugandan army has been all over the LSA at least since 2008, probably earlier. The fact that Invisible Children gave saying the LSA is committing these acts in Congo now maybe true, but on a smaller scale that they had intended it to be perceived. And also, with Kony being one of the most wanted men, it will be hard to ever bring said person to an international court because of all the strings he's tied to in his attempts to avoid capture. Good campaign and all, but it just doesn't work.

Seriously people, stuff like this has been going on for decades. Things aren't gonna change now just because a load of Facebook and Youtube users are aware of it.

To be honest, I don't give a damn. Like many people have said, this has been going on for ages and everyone is suddenly treating Kony like a new thing, the LRA has been around for a while and for gods sake, sitting on your ass signing a god damn petition doesn't suddenly make you a social activist. Especially after watching some rubbish 30 minute video.

Ha that picture pretty much explains this movement.

OT: You are actually making him INfamous, big difference. Yet another reason why I dont support this movement.

I don't understand what is trying to be achieved here. Apprehend a Ugandan warlord by sharing a video on facebook and buying shitty t-shirts from a supposedly shady charity?

How exactly is that money going to go towards getting this guy? Are we going to start seeing 'wanted' posters everywhere? Pictures on the sides of milk cartons? It seems like a completely futile effort to me and that, more than anything, is what makes this seem like the work of irritating con men.

I have the same stance that most of the UN had during the Rwandan genocide: don't care.
I'm actually going to agree with you a little bit on this. A) The Ugandan government is OBVIOUSLY doing something about it considering he is considered a rebel, B) Last time I checked, Uganda was a sovereign nation, so what right do people outside the country have to tell them how to do things, and C) Why is something that's a few years old suddenly eclipsing something larger like Syria? Focus on stuff like this is detracting from international efforts already in progress. People ***** and moan for organizations to do something and then when they actually start doing it, the public shifts their focus.

the idea seems sound it is rather flawed its not gonna outright stop them I mean this is real life its not like team rocket they are not gonna just roll over and give up just becuse the government takes out the head

i mean best case scenario would be if removing him causes a power vacume which leads to infighting leading to ital fracturing in to smaller groups which will be easier to take down

worst case he already has someone set to take his spot if hes removed or a way to contune it though jail
sersouly there are gangs who's leaders still manage to run from the inside

long story short you have to kill the whole tree not just the top branch(s)

I'm going to have to agree as well.

The fact that he is a rebel is proof enough that the Ugandan government isn't just sitting on their hands doing nothing.

I also think the reasoning this "non-profit organisation" as well as the whole Joseph Kony issue is because of the latest Invisible Children video that has come out. People have been spreading it around like it is the latest craze. On Facebook alone, I have seen links to this organisation 15+ times today.

This is more complicated than it seems, and people really don't seem to get that. Sending in military to kill this guy isn't going to end what's going on there. It's an unfortunate situation for sure and I'd like to see it end but considering all of the problems that are almost always caused by outside government interference in tense social and political situations... I think it might be a good idea to stay away from this one for now.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/www.invisiblechildren.com/critiques.html

It annoys me that people ***** about people not caring about World Issues, then when they do, they ***** even more!

Jees people. SOMETHING is better than NOTHING.

You know what sort of feeling I get from Invisible Children and their support of the ugandan and sudans armies? That they have been trying for years to get this Kony fellow. That they have slowly become twisted, now trying to get rid of Kony through any means they can and forgoing real charity. They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

edit: argh! the link above me now has me on the fence again. I guess spreading the word is good. Whether the invisible children are is up for debate.

But really, if they are that bad with the sheer amount of attention they are getting now any corruption in their organisation will end up being exposed by the media I think.

I've actually heard of him, around 3 or 4 years ago but I had completely forgotten well I'm thinking of maybe even going on the poster spree on April the 30th was it?
Saw this on Twitter everybody is spamming it, anyway already working on convincing the people I know that have more facebook friends on making noise about it to make sure people put posters in this city too, damn them they're too lazy and don't want to see the video going to talk with them tomorrow.

EDIT: Also have you noticed how ridiculously manipulative that video is? I mean I'm fine with it and I think that subliminally implying that he is the new Hitler is a stroke of genius, I think making this manipulative piece of propaganda is great, because by making it this extreme then people are bound to notice more and care more, so just wondering if somebody else noticed, I don't think it's bad but I don't like to be manipulated but for this cause I'll let it slide.
