I'm waiting on a review. Or a demo (unlikely).

It basically comes down to whether or not there are multiple endings to the investigations. I want to be able to screw up an investigation and still continue the story. Otherwise it just becomes a glorified scavenger hunt.

It's the difference between an interactive detective drama and modernization of the classic adventure game. I don't want to have to sit there rubbing every bit of evidence in every witness' face until it lets me continue. Let me experiment. Let me screw up.
That's EDIT: most likely the case. There are multiple outcomes to most, if not all cases, if sources are to be believed.

This may be my fanboyism speaking here, but LA Noire is going to be game of the year. I can almost guarantee it.
Okay, no. Its good, I will give you that. Very very good, on any other year it would sweep the GOTYs. But 2011? This year? No, Uncharted 3 has that in the bag.
Wow sir, tell me where you get your games from the future!
No, from previews. Basically, the way I've seen it described, LA Noire is super-mega-awesome, Skyrim is Double-Super-Mega-Awesome, and Uncharted 3 is Triple-Super-Mega-Awesome. So we can tell that, based on the current evidence, Uncharted 3 will be one and a half times as super mega awesome as Skyrim. Its just math - you can't argue with the math.
Yep, what you said wasn't opinionated what so ever, so it must be true. Plus, watching trailers is pretty much the same thing as playing the game. I guess your math holds up.

On a side note, I can't wait for Uncharted 3... to bad I don't own a PS3.

I think the advertisement for this game is strong enough that it will sell.

I mean, Heavy Rain sold well, Mafia II sold well (even though it was shit) - both more 'interactive movies' than games. Assassin's Creed, a completely unique game, sold well and spanned several sequels. I see no reason why this shouldn't. Granted, probably not as well as GTA 4 or Halo, but still. The premise is interesting enough that it will intrigue people.
How was Mafia II an interactive movie?

To be honest, I hadn't even heard of LA Noire up until about a week ago. I'm still not quite sure what the game's about. But I will be renting it whenever I see it, I like surprises.
Your a cop/detective in the 1940's in LA who has to solve lots of bloody crime by finding evidence, questioning witnesses, and putting the clues together. While their will be shooting, you can't just gun down half the city like in GTA/Red Dead, only when a gun is pulled on you will you be able to shoot. Your going to be given tons of cases as you move up through five departments of the LAPD.

Before you rage on me i really cant wait for it.
But who will be interested in buying it except people who want something new?
I am afraid the game will not sell ENOUGH to make the develepment worth it.
While your point is still valid, the fact it is being made by Rockstar, a well known company with an established fan base, it should bring in sales just from that. Predicting what will do well and what will flop is often a pointless endeavor.

You make the same mistake. I never heard of Red Dead Redemption until a day before release, bought it and I fell in love with it. A sleeper hit warranted 10/10 on some websites.

I hope L.A. Noire will offer that same unique experience like RDR.
Well said. These are my exact hopes for LA Noire too. RDR blew me away. I hope to re-experience that feeling with LA Noire.

Dude, please check facts before making this dramatic, fear mongering posts. LA Noire is currently the 3rd best selling PS3 game and the 2nd best selling Xbox 360 game, and it's not even out yet.
Are you up for some sort of retard of the year award?

I'll rent if I can.
I buy multiplayer games and that's it, because I know it'll last.

Beautiful game though, I really like the direction its going.

People said the same thing about Red Dead Redemption, and......yeah, it almost did get Game of the year.

It's something really new and interesting, and the whole pick your cases in the order you want to do them thing sounds fun.

No it will sell amazingly well. It has R* brand all over it. Maybe not Red Dead or GTA well, but it will reach 1 million by June

L.A. Noire will sell because it's a Rockstar game. I think several people, myself included, didn't think Red Dead Redemption would sell because it was a western and not many people are into westerns nowadays. I know the gameplay is different from a GTA or a RDR but Rockstar knows how to do marketing and L.A. Noire has that big open world thing going for it. The game won't sell like a GTA game due to the very different gameplay but people trust the Rockstar name, not me though (the last good games Rockstar has made IMO are Vice City and Midnight Club 2).

My prediction: FAIL

Looks/feels more story-based than sandbox, but they apparently forgot to add the auto-play button so I can just watch the movie instead of being forced to jump through the game play hoops.

But then, I never understood how people can stand "press X to jump" game play like Uncharted...

People were saying Red Dead Redemption wouldn't sell either, "No one wants a Western."

Actually, I see it as a way to get the whole puzzle point-n'-click crowd into the twenty-first century.

Because it is story based, which is what the majority of the gaming crowd wants, that's why almost every game has a story
