I really don't think it's related to the violence guys, it seems more likely that there's one little issue they don't like and therefore have denied rating. It's their style.

...Think it's cause of the pills? Cause I could totally see it's because of the pills, since it shows you swallowing a whole bottle of pain medication which somehow gives you the power to fight zombies with mortal wounds.

And the new one adds Adrenaline pills.

Initially I thought it was the adrenaline yeah, but apparently it's due to the large amount of gore. Somehow movies like saw and hostel are still legal. Double standards much.

Keep in mind that we also either get games much later than the rest of the world or don't get them at all because our distributors don't think they'll sell and we also get bent over and fucked up the ass with a cattle prod over prices. Americans complain about having to pay US$50 for a new release? We pay AU$100 for new releases, and not the exchange rate between our currencies is not that drastic, that's just retailers ripping us off because they can. AND out internet sucks major balls. Dickheads like Philip Atkinson and the OFLC are just the icing on the shit-cake we have to eat.

God I hate this group of conservative, family value loving dumbasses who are making all the decisions when they haven't played a game outside of the Wii. It's common sense to implement an R rating while you're overhauling the system. Kids don't get to play bad games and you can have lots of time to really consider the issue without pissing every single adult gamer off. They're also trying to start censoring the internet so it's really a fun place to live at the moment.

It's actually the liberals who do that with regards to violence. The conservatives are usually too worried about nipples and mild sexuality to get involved with the violence issue.

While I'd agree somewhat, this isn't really the case considering that Jack Thompson is a conservative. I know there are other examples too but I can't think of them.

The thing is in Australia there is no R (restricted 18 plus) for games.
So its not double standards that they allow films like SAW and Hostel.
The whole thing is because of the stupidity of the family first minister (cant remember his name at the moment) who will not allow the rating to pass through government. Based on the belief that all gamers are little children.

There are a couple of things i just wanted to add to the previous post. From what i've read I believe the main reason for the possible ban is due to the slightly amped up violence and dismemberment, particularly with melee weapons (not necessarily the adrenaline or accused 'racism'). Also, i doubt Aussies like myself could get the game off steam if it was banned. I think steam could stop you from purchasing it based on your IP address or something of the sort. Also, if L4D2 was banned and you tried to purchase it from another country, you may get into legal trouble. If we want to predict the most likely outcome, i think it's best to look at the situation of Team Fortress 2 in Germany (although i think Germany's even a step more conservative than Australia).

So here's what i imagine to be the two most likely outcomes (in what i believe to in the order of likeliness).

1) L4D2 get's banned and Australian's are forced to play a Sanitized and toned down version of Left 4 Dead 2. Even though i think this is stupid and i shouldn't be treated as a kid, it's better than not being able to play it at all.
2) L4D2 get's banned and Australian's are restricted from playing it. The crapiness of this is self-explanatory.
3) It doesn't get banned and Australian's can play it in all it's original glory. This is pretty unlikely though .​
