I HAAAAATE THEM! I was told just minutes before and came here to see if a forum had been started already. Lately Australias been real shitty about games, one more strike and I'm on the first plane to Canada. But seriously, can't us Aussies just download it off steam?

Thank God for piracy. Realistic violence is bad after all, that's why create games based on realism! This is fucking ridiculous.

You see though, couldn't you just buy it over Steam? Seeing as Steam doesn't have an Australian store it would make sense that you could get it that way, and I'd assume you'd need Steam to play it (for the PC version anyway, unlucky XBrickers).

Wow, honestly just wow. I would just like to inform people here that the average age of gamers in australia is 22 (according to last years Electronic server performed by university of melbourne) and by 2020 the average age of games will be 28 (the same average age of australian citizens).

heck Native Americans (I refuse to call them by the "i" word, shame that the name given to people by their conquerors is the one that sticks)

isn't it cool how super-realistic, modern-day warfare can be legalised in Modern Warfare 2, which Australia hasn't banned.

yet, when we want to kill a bunch of zombies, in a totally unrealistic apocalypse scenario, it's banned.

lovely.

oh, and the select few big tough yanks who feel obligated to bag out Australia on the interwebnetz just because the topic contains something that's banned in Australia, we were 'founded' by British colonists, and our indigenous peoples have been here for tens of thousands of years. Just remember you idiots came from colonists too. Convicts were BROUGHT here in the 1700s and 1800s. spare us all the convict bullshit hypocrisy just because you can't remember that your own country was once crawling with exiled criminals too.
I don't think "lol, Australia was a penal colony" is as serious business as you're making it sound, but I am going to point out that one of the two locations (out of America and Australia) has everything including nature trying to kill you, and leave it at that.
Have to to bite here ok so American has Bears we have Kangaroos hmmm ok American has mountian lions we have rock wallibys hmmm ok American has a big problem with its huge left over slave population feeling like they are still treated differnely we have on going issues with our natives hmmmm 3-0 so far want me to keep going mate.
That's not what he/she meant I'm thinking. But uh, yeah, can't really remember if I posted here or not. Any way, sorry. I think L4D2 is going to be fun.
And im thinking you dont do much thinking.

From the article:
The PDF file indicates that the game was refused classification due to 'high impact violence' against 'living humans infected with a rabies-like virus' that is unsuitable for minors under the age of 18
I don't understand why this makes for a banned game. Why don't they just stick an "18+" label on the box?

That sucks for Australia, I hope they change their mind, I love playing with Aussies in online games, they're cool.

Although you Aussies have got to get used to us Americans making fun of your government for this retardedness even though it's not the populaces fault. You make fun of American government for all of its retardedness, and most of the time it's not our fault (responding to the people whiplashing to the so called "anti-Aussie" behavior in this thread), the rest of you are cool.

We get retards, rednecks, and ill-informed Obama haters/Bush lovers, but at least we can play any video game we want, hehe.

Edit: And yes, the banning seems a bit retarded in my opinion.

Exactly! Stick a fucking 18 sticker on the box and be done with it!

I'm not even from Australia and I'm pissed off! Why deny one part of the world, one of the many games coming out this year. No offense to Australians but what the fuck is up with your goverment.

Hmmm, well i'm not particularly happy to be Australian right now, perhaps even a little bit ashamed. I pressume though that Australians will still be able to buy it off steam, or at least i hope. I try not to get worked up about these sorts of things, but it does seem incredibly stupid that someone such as myself just over the age of 18 would aparently not be able to handle a game with killing zombies. In fact, it's ridiculous. Yes, perhaps kids shouldn't be playing it, but i and many other gamer's who are waiting to play L4D2 are not kids, but yet we are being treated like one. How much longer are censors going to ignore the fact that a lot of mature gamer's exist, many of whom want to be playing game's that reflect their maturity. So 18+ people are allowed to see some of the most violent films ever made, buy pornography magazines or over the internet, buy FPS games that simulate real world violence where you shoot actual human beings and yet a game where you shoot zombies is just too much for us because there's a bit of dismemberment (and aparent racism, gah). Also, Fallout 3 had it's fair ammount of dismemberment and violence, most notably when shooting actual human beings, but that got through to AUS for some reason. L4D2 really should just get an R18+ rating (though it's still debatable whether it deserves one). Anyway, that's the end of my rant lol.

I really don't think it's related to the violence guys, it seems more likely that there's one little issue they don't like and therefore have denied rating. It's their style.

Example:
Fallout 3
"OMG MORPINE"
"Um, not anymore, it's MedX now."
"OKAY, I SEE NO CONNECTION"
...Think it's cause of the pills? Cause I could totally see it's because of the pills, since it shows you swallowing a whole bottle of pain medication which somehow gives you the power to fight zombies with mortal wounds.

And the new one adds Adrenaline pills.

What I'd like to know is how the hell you become a minor over the age of 18.

The pills are most definitely the reason it was banned intially. They confirmed that.

Also, Australian Government is indeed a joke, feel free to mock it.
