Well after a 15 minute wait, I got to try the L4D2 Demo, and for the most part it's fun. For one your AI teamates are better, they don't waste health, hurry to save your sorry ass when a special infected pounces, maims, pounds, or burns you. While I wasn't looking at them most of the time, they used some form of stratagy and kept close to both me and themselves, they keep up as always and are much better for it.

There are 3 more "special" infected added to the list, making it 7. Armored and hazmat infected don't count. You have the Charger, an f'ed up looking zombie with a bigass arm, his job is to split/divide players and maybe kill a survivor. Next is the Spitter, she can spit acid at you and the ground to make it impossible to cross for a few seconds, her job is to slow down/divide players to allow other special infected finish players off (thats gotta suck on expert!). Finally there is the Jockey, an annoying little bastard that will jump on you and steer you into danger, that makes him a pain in the ass on harder difficulties.

A new option to add to your secondary, I just used up all my shotgun ammo and I'm fucked slot, is a melee weapon. Now against normal infected these weapons work great, against the special infected well... hope you got some pain pills and maybe a med pack. Another new add on is a pair of jumper cables, to revive a person by putting X amount of watts into their flesh, that's designed more for expert difficulty, but still shows up in the lower difficulties. They've also added new gernades like boomer bile which attracts zombies but doesn't kill them like a pipebomb, and new drugs like adrenaline which speeds you up.

What I didn't like was how the Witch can kill you in two hits, they also took out player closets (porbably to keep players from being cheap), I also don't like how most of the content in L4D2 could have been DLC for the first. Still this is a better L4D and it works good and plays good, and thats all we need to ask from a game. Kudos to Valve, for giving us the game that allows us to shoot southern zombies!

Good review. They didn't take out dual pistols, though. They did add a magnum that I'm not sure you could dual with, but the magnum is so awesome by itself that it doesn't matter. I'm actually pretty excited about L4D2 at this point.

They didnt take out dual pistols you can still find pistols on the ground, as well as the magnum which replaces your pistol but is still long range. Also yes all of the content in L4D2 could have been downloadable, other than the AI improvements, but it would have cost a fortune and took up a ton of space so its better off this way, at least in my opinion.
Edit: After seeing the guy above me I thought Id clear up that you cannot dual wield magnums.

Yeah, your right. I'm not sure about how many campaigns theres going to be, but I hear it's going to intertwine with one another, but still limited amount of levels to go through.

You actually used a magnum? Why didn't I see it? I played the demo about 10 times.

Because of the defibrillator I'm curious as to how expert will work, will there be no more hero closets but a resurrection at the end of a chapter? Killing someone off in front of a hero closet was an effective way to resurrect a player and then they were able to pick up their gear.

Once you leave the room that has new guns and melee weapons over the the trucks, run around the corner and all the way down the alley and sometimes there will be magnums by the fence.

Resurrection still works the same way, just if you pull out a defib it highlights dead bodies so you can run up to them and use it just like a med kit.

Errrr... The survivor cloests are there, if you mean the closets you respawn in.

I shock paddled my friend back to life during a melee dual, and he hit me with the guitar before I could switch back. He killed me and left me but I respawned in a cupboard, banging on the doors just like L4D.

You forgot to mention the now extensive list of weapons. Y'know, what with everything?
They have;
M-16/Old Assault Rifle (From LFD1)
Old Sub-machine Gun (No Silencer; From LFD1)
Pump Shotgun (From LFD1)
Chrome Shotgun (New; slightly better than the pump)
Combat Shotgun (New; an automatic Chrome Shotgun)
Tactical Shotgun (Automatic Pump Shotgun; From LFD1)
Hunting Rifle (From LFD1)
Improved Rifle ([Don't know the proper name; bigger clip, more accurate]New)
Grenade Launcher (Not In Demo; New)
Burst Assault Rifle (New; High Accuracy)
AK-47 (New; Bigger clip, Low Accuracy)
And the melees so far...
Nightstick
Machete
Guitar
Frying Pan
Ninja Sword (Not In Demo)

You already heard about them there magnums, so need to go there...
Oh, right, Other...the usual
Bile Bomb
Pipe Bomb
Molotov
Adrenaline
Pills (Coach; I know one thing...I'm grabbin pills)
Med Kit
Defibrillator

The Uncommon Common (CEDA Agents [Hazmat] and Police zombies) aren't around inside the Non-Violent version. But there are ways to alter the files and remove the violence blocker...the other computer in this house has it.

I enjoyed the demo. DEFINITELY feels like an expansion pack, NOT a sequel. I'll def pick it up on a weekend sale.

I have read someone else talking about a desert eagle, mind telling me where in the demo you found the DE or magnum? I would love a mess about with it. :D

OT: Yep agree with the review, especially about the friendly AI, they def know how to handle themselves better now, thank god.

I actually disagree about the Survivor AI, I think they're just as terrible as they were in Left 4 Dead. They're excellent at killing a single target, but fail against multiple targets, making them pathetic at dealing with the common infected. On Expert the common infected are the second biggest threat (friendly fire being number one IMO) so you basically have to kill half the zombies by yourself if you want to stand a chance. Plus they do really stupid things, like run twenty feet to melee something off instead of just shooting it.

Here's a fun game - download the plugin that lets you play as Infected, set up a single-player game on Expert, allow an all bot team, switch to infected, hide somewhere out of sight, do not attack, and watch the AI fail repeatedly.

5 Campaigns with 4 levels each I think.

Story will link them together.

Really good demo. Definitely equal or greater value than the original game. I'm gonna be buying this one.

What do you mean by player closets?

Do you mean the cupboards they respawn in? In that case, they're still in the game

You can still dual-wield

The Bots still do that damn annoying "try to pick up a downed player at all costs, even if it means running into a Tank" thing
