Well, I plugged this comic last time, but I'll do it again. http://www.thezombiehunters.com/zombies.php Keep in mind that this comic had been here for years before L4D came out. There are only 3 zombie types from there that they haven't already stolen. The Mercy, which is a pacifist zombie. The Berzerker, which is basically just a compact sized Tank that likes to play with it's food. And the Basilisk.

This one would be cool. It looks like a normal zombie except for red, glowing eyes. When it gets close enough to a survivor and locks eyes, they have a seizure and collapse, causing minor damage, incapacitating that survivor until they are helped up by someone else. The seizure makes the survivor spray bullets wildly around them, possibly injuring the other survivors.

I think a cool one would be a lurker or burrowing zombie, that moves slowly but can hide just underground and wait for a survivor to come near. When a survivor comes with in range he can burst from the ground quickly and pull him down to the ground and begin damaging him. He would have a thick sort of armored upper body, but a weak lower body that would be exposed during his initial lunge, so if you get him when he reveals himself he's a piece of cake, otherwise killing him after he's dragged the survivor down to his burrow will take a lot longer.

I was gonna write a tldr but i will just summarize.SI shoots stuff, at close range it slows movement, at long range it deals a lot of damage. The projecticle is totally visible as to whether it will slow or damage you(starts off as purple goo that hardens into grey concrete). The slowdown lasts 10 seconds and it has a 10 second cooldown, and deals 1 damage per second. The damage of the concrete will be 15-20(depending on balance, they because chargers and hunters both have to risk themselves up close it will more liekly be 15).SI has 200 health and has slower then hunter but higher then smoker movement speed, also has concrete spikes on it, so it CAN be shoved back but it will damage the survivor who hit it, so survivors will make split second decisions whether to shove it or not(as opposed to boomer who is always, and charger who is never). Note melee weapon attack does no damage to survivor. This will sometimes be funny as survivors can be noobs and just wail on any infected.

I want a spider-like infected... Maybe it has extra limbs or something.

Anyway, it can crawl up walls (and ceilings) and can stay stationary on them (unlike the Hunter, who can't attach himself to a wall after pouncing onto it). The only way to detect it in the dark is by its drooling. If it's on the ceiling, it can fall and latch itself onto a survivor and inject him/her with a venom that'll cause damage over time. However, how long the damage lasts is determined by how long the spider-thing was on him (it will pin down the survivor, rendering him unable to move). When pinned, the survivor won't suffer any damage, but when the spider-thing is done (having latched on for say, 20 seconds), the survivor will feel the effects of poison, restricting his movement and taking off chunks of his/her HP every 3-4 seconds. The damage each time will lessen, but the longer the infected was latched, the larger each chunk of health will be taken off. It can be remedied with a healthpack, which will either treat it entirely, or if the spider-bite was recent, then greatly lessen it.

It would have above-average move speed (just above the survivor's move speed) with low health.

Or a mole type infected, who can burrow holes in the ground and grab a survivor if he/she passes over the hole, similar to a hunter pinning him/her down.

That'd be cool.

I'd like an infected that's extremely survivable, one that is very difficult to kill, and constantly stalks the survivors throughout the game, attacking at random intervals to constantly keep the survivors on their toes.

That infected would need to have weak attack strength, and be unplayable in VS mode in order for it to not be overpowered.

Something that could fly would be cool, maybe something akin to an airborne Smoker or Spitter.

God forbid an airborne Tank, though.
Amen to that, and I think that I've got just the ticket for a flier. Meet the Gargoyle:

Unlike most infected, the gargoyle only spawns in outdoor environments. It is a fast flier that grabs up survivors only to drop them to their deaths. While highly mobile, the gargoyle flies slowly when it has latched onto it's target because of the extra weight. The higher it gets, the more damage the target takes from the drop, until it gets to a height that results in an instant incapacitation, or even death.

Another idea is the Mole, who digs underground only to pop out and slowly drag their screaming prey underground. good for chokepoints.

I might have an idea for that. Let it be a dude with loooong hair like you see metal heads have. He will have looong claws that can stretch through walls. He should also be able to camouflage himself near objects, taking two-one seconds time.

The only custom infected idea I ever liked was the Haggard. I mostly liked it cause I always wanted an infected that worked strictly on the tank rock throwing premise of a longer cooldown ranged throw. The Haggard was intended to occasionally pop instead of the tank, as a more ranged version, but I'd rather see it have pretty low health and be a special infected. Spitter is my favorite SI now, not only for the effect of the goo, but learning to understand the range and such, just like when I had to learn tank catalpulting.

really slow, old school zombies that take a long time to kill but come in packs of 10 or so. THAT would require strategy.

a zombie that was unkillable, but moved much more slowly than a survivor with full health, but it randomly pick on one of the survivors and relentlessly pursue them through the entire level, if it catches them it is an instant kill or incap.

Yeah, maby an infected soldier that was holding an assult rifle when he turned.
He could just fire randomly in the general direction he is faceing.
And you can take his gun if you kill him. Although this would be on the same level as a hazmat zombie, as far as special goes.

The two zombies I wish they had, aren't exactly new ideas.
I want them to put the screamer back in the game, and instead of running away, I would like them to act more like a clown, calling more zombies than a clown would and maybe charging like a maniac at a survivor, but only stumbling them since they are stuck in a straight jacket.

And the fallen survivors back. But instead of dropping Molotov they would drop shotguns or rifles with relatively low remaining ammo. And while still on their feet they would try to smack you with the guns as if they were sticks or so. The idea is they still recognize it's a weapon, but cannot remember how to use them properly.
