its not possible
the Twilight franchise has an insanely low amount of action in it
ive read them
you have a good 4 fight scenes across 4 books
it woiuld only work if they did it like Heavy Rain
and that would still be stretch

Not saying it would be a bad game, but it would just be a kind of interactive storytelling, QTE-based game, I would personally play a QTE-based minigame, because of the adrenaline, but it will get repetitive sometimes. There should be diffrent endings for it. If they could get some good video game authors, maybe even the writer of Twlight, Meyers, to do a couple more endings. That would make for a mediocre game, which I think will sell lots before the word goes out that despite the effort, it still will suck.

I'd buy the game if it was this version:

And you get to play as Blade, of course.

I'm suprised Bobby Kotick isn't all over this if it's such a money maker, considering he's such a shameless profit-whore.

Though seriously, I think it's because most in the industry see through the twilight movies bullshit

The sexism of our time. But seriously, who would the video game cater to? Since most Twilight fans are either female tweens or their moms, you would have to like meld a fashion designer game for DS with like, Tetris/Bejeweled, involving shirtless pictures of Edward. Ultimately, I think the whatever the industry would have put out for a game like this, would've been even less fun than ET for atari.

There is a reason that a game on this franchise has not been made.

Quite simply: How would one go about doing it? And if you do it right, can you do a game based on the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?

As far as I see it, the sole gameplay mechanic would be quick time events.

I can only think of one way that you could possibly make a playable game out of something like Twilight, that would be to take the Dante's Inferno approach and only loosely base the game off of the books/films and convert it into a more action focused (and probably more manly) affair.

The major problem with this is that I could see the dreaded Twilight fangirls going ballistic over this and firebombing whoever has the misfortune of making this game.

Otherwise, it'll probably end up like some of the dating sims that come out of Japan (in short, NSFW and aimed at sexually deprived emos).

You know, this could be the most epic and profitable trolling campaign in history if they do it right...

*slaps self*

You know what? Nevermind, doing it at all would just bump up the Twilight fans' egos into the fucking sky. I can already hear them... "You're a gamer? There's a Twilight game, you know! You're gay if you don't like the Twilight video game! It's the best of both worlds! UH-MAZING BUUK and now GAEM!!!"

Ugh...

"Given how hot a property it is, Twilight could easily present a seven-figure exploitation opportunity, especially if publishers look at taking it beyond retail gaming and considers network gaming," Gibson said.
And this is the result of god damned casual gaming. Any time an IP is seen as having marketing potential in the video game arena we're going to get "something" released by some cash-eyed development studio hacks fighting with equally cash-eyed publishers inside a pit of money. Yeah you can make a game about anything, and yes there are people who will buy it, but just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD.

I mean, you could make a pay site that contains a video of you sitting buck-naked nailing your scrotum to the chair and charge a dollar a view. That doesn't make you a savvy business man, that makes you some dumb shlup that nailed his bag to a chair.

Coming from another angle, he suggests aiming it at a teens to 20-30 female market. Yes, long gone are the days where gaming was thought to be an exclusively male hobby, but that still doesn't make taking advantage of a developing demographic any more ethical. Nothing that Mr. Gibson says gives me any confidence that a product born from his train of thought would bring anything beneficial to the market.

From the original article: "The analyst predicts that a Twilight game would have to be targeted carefully in order to be successful, rather than rolled out to the typical gaming audience. But he claims there is still a huge potential market out there."

Based on everything else that's been said, I read that as "We need to make sure that we reach the gamers who really don't care about quality, who won't mind the substandard production values and will just buy it because of the title. And we need to keep it away from the general populace who might blow the whistle on our shameless money grab."

There is already a Twilight MMO in the works.
Any console game wouldn't do any better than the other movie games, though. 60 bucks is too steep for the twilight fans who probably don't even own consoles, and would be playing it on someone elses.
