DoD:S has a funny lag on some servers. The players locations and actions regarding each other shift back to a point around 2-3 seconds before. But the player's actions regards to themselves are unaffected.

This is great when you get to have a second pop at that 3 on 1 firefight you should have won.
But incredibly frustrating when you've just sprayed someone with 30 Thomson rounds, only to find you have to face them again with an empty gun, and now they know you're coming.

By far the most infuriating I've experienced is on COD4. Not the massive lagfests where people fly about the map, but when there is a tiny connection speed difference between the players. It happens frequently when I shoot someone and the first 3/4 bullets that I fire don't register as hits, and the person then kills me. After watching countless numbers of these scenarios on killcam, it appears to the other player as if I wasn't even shooting them, not that I was missing them just there were no bullets coming out of my gun.

By far one of the most annoying things in online gaming.

Unreal Tournament 3 has lag worse than Halo 3, CoD4, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and other FPS. It's actually to the point where no one plays anymore because host has every kind of advantage imaginable.

Least laggy game: BattleField 2: MC for 360. Don't know how they did it...being an EA game. But it worked phenomenally well.

I was reading an article on the internet about lag, and it said that there's this awesome fiber optic cable being used in a lot of developing countries that makes connections about 20 times faster. I imagine that eventually, the United States ISPs will switch over to this kind of cable, and eventually lag will be undetectable to the human eye, though it will always exist to a tiny degree. Here's hoping.

One time I dialed into a mate's network so we could get a three player game of Deathmatch Doom going. Man, those were the days. I got a taste of what people would have had later when a cabler joined their CS server, before broadband was properly marketed in this country. On a scale from one to rape, you can imagine how I felt after that experience.

Vindication came that weekend when I lugged my rig over there for some bloody vengeance.

Man, I love Doom.

Catching a boat from menethil harbour and being stuck on said boat floating high above stonetalon mountains with a bunch of other random players unable to move from my spot for 20 min before suddenly arriving at darkshore.
one of the other people on the boat who was able to move jumped off and i've always been curious as to where they actualy landed.
Just one example of the crazy, frustrating things i've seen Lag do.
I Don't play WOW anymore

I'm in college right now, and it was so packed we had to rent a hotel. That's where I live right now, and I lag on a game called "the Internets." I can't even bring myself to try and play games on this connection. My connection cuts out all the time and I time out on Google.

crazy-j, For future reference, there are a few buttons at the bottom right hand corner of your post. Use these to edit comments. Try not to post doubly.

lag in Call of Duty is annoying. POW -pause- POW -pause- in some servers.

Crysis Multiplayer *shudder*....... The people who lagged there got advantages more often than not because they'd disappear and reappear in strange places so quickly you could never shoot them. By the time they were done lagging, they'd already run away or blown your face off...

Stupid Crytek and their cessation of support for Crysis.....
Yeah, and aircraft especially get a huge advantage, as infantry can't guide their rockets to the target.

I used to play EverQuest when it first came out. At the time the only internet available to this part of the UK was dial-up. So you can imagine what it was like with that fact in mind.

To add to that and my half decent PC, my ISP would cut me off every 2 hours. So I'd have to log in (10-15 mins) play my game for a bit and set an alarm so I could correctly log out 5-10 mins before.

If I didn't log out just right, I'd experience all kinds of lag and random events would happen the next time I logged; I'd see half the fight that I'd just missed, my old party would still appear to be there but wouldn't be.

Thank god for broadband :D

Try playing any fighting-game with lag.
'Nuff said.

The frustration that emerges from that is nowhere near as infuriating as lags in TF2...
