Who are you?

:D

OT: I dunno if "good posters" would be an apt description for most of them, since generally you only get banned if you're a 'bad' poster.

I kinda miss the wackiness of Karutomaru threads though.

Though it does amuse me that some of the more outspoken people whose posts I tended to disagree with have ended up banned...

I do miss some people, like Furburt and RAKtheUndead, but more often than not I can understand why they were banned (especially RAK). Others, good bloody riddance. MaxTheReaper was, to be polite, not a person I had any time for. His legions of imitators were pretty annoying too.

It does make me laugh when people think a mod has a grudge against them or something, for one, I'd be very surprised if mods don't look at each other's bans at all. It's just hilariously deluded to think that you must be completely innocent and that a mod hates you.

I'm not going anywhere but I have observed this for myself. When I go into Forum Games and stay out of Off Topic for long periods of time, I get odd looks when I pop back into OT. I have a few quotes in my inbox that are basically "Who are you, how'd you get so many posts and why have I never seen you before?".

It's just a fact of Forum Life I suppose.
I know what you mean. Except no-one asks who I am or takes interest in what I say.

So not really similar at all honestly >.>

OT: Quite a large number of those names I remember. Maxthereaper was interesting never knowing what his/her actual gender was and how he/she left it a mystery in posts.

I think you guys grossly overestimate my importance to this place.
Your importance to this place, boy? Why, the forums need a hero. Someone for the people to look up to as a Saviour.

Makes it all the more satisfying when you're struck down.

I'll miss Vault, she was a lovely girl.

I'll also miss Katakori. Shine one, you crazy, old male/white guilt ridden bastard. Arguments will be much less fun without you.

The mods got sick of his constant hating on anything that involved relationships or, gods forbid, marriage. He wailed and riled against everything associated with it out of pure self-hatred, for instance complaining why such topics were made yet still posting in them. I tried helping him with it once but to no avail. After a while people got sick of his hate spewing and he got banned for good.

Shame in a way he was like that. He wrote some damn insightful articles here.

I've always wondered how visible I was. Passed the 10k mark recently and yet I feel like I'm still a stranger here.

I know, I know. I still liked him when he was talking about other topics though.

And for the record, I recognise you.

I'll throw two more up there, Avykins [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Avykins], and TheNecroswanson [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/TheNecroswanson]. I remember enjoying both of their posts when they were around, though I've forgotten most of their actual posts at this point.

Most of those names I recognized, as others would tell me stories of the "Old Great Ones" before bed

Totally happened, I swear.

But for the more recent ones (as well as the old), I can understand why they were banned, so I can't say the moderation is at fault

Moral of the story: Let's all get along!

I actually recognize a lot of those names...

Well, I guess they did break the rules, but some of them were rather intersting...

Also, I WHOLE HEARTILY disagree with 'insulting' being worse than image macros/low content post. Whenever insults are thrown is because the person deserves it, aka acting like a massive idiot.

Where as low content posting and image macroin' is a clear sign of an unoriginal, unfunny jackass.
YOU!

How'd YOU get back in here?
That was fast.

Bye again Zeel!

Post inflation due to prolific user group users or *cough* forum gamers like myself has led to a higher number of 10K+ posters around on the site. When I first joined, if someone had 10K or more, you knew them. Nowadays I don't know half of the people who have passed that threshold.

For most people avatars are what cements you as a visible figure. I recognized your avatar but not your name when I saw the quote notification.

Well the main ban that sucked as far as I was concerned was Matthew94, but I still chat to him on Steam anyway so it's been no big deal in the long run. :)

It's the natural flow of things - you either get banned before you grow tired, or live long enough to slowly get sick of the forums.
It's been a while now, maybe he could get back in :D

I miss that angry Irish bastard.
Maybe we can tempt him back with drink and sweeties - the chat needs more drunken typing and picture flooding! :D

F-F-Furburt......

I really miss that guy.

I still head over to Mellow Leprechauns every now and then just to say hi.

I swear, that place is like the official Banned Escapist Celebrity Zombie Circlejerk forum.

If they picked themselves up and acted like decent, respectful members they'd still be here. I'm far from a good example, but at least I can read the rules and change behavior after an infraction. Why lament or even stick up for people who don't, or whine as if some outstanding people should be above it? None of the names recognized are martyrs; they weren't nice people.
