OK, dear Esacpist, I have a question regarding a choice in laptops.

I've just sold my Toshiba Satellite which I had for the past 3,5 years and I'm about to get a new one.

Due to finances and logistics it's basically down to these two from this shop.

All I know is this: I'm aware Acer is not the best manufacturer. I know Dell has a longer warranty. I realize the Acer has better hardware and that Dell has better build.

Thing is, I've been hearing a lot of bad talk about Acer eMachines, but are they really that bad? Also, the Dell looks good but the fact that it has a smaller hard drive and only 6GB maximum memory (I looked it up), is it worth sacrificing specs for brand, and vice versa?

Thank you and I look forward to a response.

The main issue you've got to look at is which one serves your needs best.
Personally, I'd recommend the Acer anyway. They may not be the best machines in the world but they're less likely to break than a Dell. Many of my friends had to take their Dell in for repair after a few months use.
Go for the Acer.

I do not speak Croatian.

EDIT: Since the specs aren't in Croatian, it really comes down to what you need in a laptop. Gaming? School? Business?

Well I wanted something for work and applications such as the Adobe package, etc, but also I wanted a laptop with a mid range graphics card like those two. Spec wise the Acer takes the cake for me but I just wanted to know is it that unreliable as some people say.

Although Dell doesn't have the best reputation, I have personally had great success with their laptops. I currently own three Inspiron machines, including one that is over 5 years old. They get regular use and frequent travel, and the only repair work I have ever needed was a replacement cooling fan on one of them.

I've never owned an Acer, so I can't provide a personal perspective there. Good luck!

I've always bought Dells, and they've always treated me well. This Studio XPS I'm typing on is quite good for gaming, though it heats up a bit quickly.

Can't really say anything about Acer though

I love Dells and normally I would always go for the Dell, but speeking from personal experiance in my opinion the Inspiron is kinda shitty even if I ignor the fact that it died several times.
