I've always wanted to, but never had the opportunity.

Despite all of the negative stereotypes, it always sounded like a lot of fun.

"My friend does LARPing, shes a gypsy if I remember correctly."
"Should have the chance to play with her if I get to ask."

I play LARP in England, but I did it before D 'n' D and WoW; it got me into them. I've played lots of different systems, each is completely different which gives a lot of freedom in your style of play.

Ya I have to agree, I like splashing steampunk and cyberpunk in my LARP choices only so much Fantasy. Also kind of cool trying to learn the different spell mechanics, and fighting styles in each.

I've never played D&D before and I don't know anyone who'd go LARPing, but I'd like an excuse to hang around in a forest in a medieval fantasy costume and play fight.

I joined a group that did a World of Darkness themed LARP back when I was in university. But I quit during my senior year because I got tired of almost everyone playing characters who were douche bags. Sure the general population in the WoD is supposed to be a bit jaded to the world, but it doesn't mean everyone has to be a complete asshole to one another and backstabbing becomes something to be expected. Also everyone dressing up in suits really didn't feel that exciting, very few people took it to any interesting levels.

I'd love to LARP, but I live in the country in Australia so it's pretty hard to find. Even then, disability kinda limits my options, could be a pretty decent mage though. That and nobody I've never met in Australia plays anything like DnD and the like, the only thing being available is 40k, and that's bloody expensive.

Not really on topic, but I do want to try it.
If you hit the nail on the head any harder it would of gone through!
I can't find much in the way of anything DnD related but no shortage of 40k (Not saying I don't like it, because I do)

Yeah, it's shame we didn't work it out sooner, though I've been all over the state the last couple of years.

There's probably enough people in the state that'd be interested (especially if you roped in a bunch of reenactors and ren-faire people), its just that's never really been set up.

Well, I can travel around quite a bit if I want to, I wish something for LARPing or something had been set up for people like us. Ah well, them's the brakes.

My grammar is atrocious, and I write stories ffs.

also make sure you check google. your really never know, but talking to ren people is a great idea.

Haha I bought $400 worth of aromor for LARPing(for once character) That doesn't even take into account my weapon costs.(I should probably mention LARPing generally isn't that expensive, only if you want a certain look, like armor, will it cost much)

The worse best bit is my dad had a full suit of plate professionally made and fitted to him for his fortieth birthday. This stuff isn't the decorative suit made for display, it actually fits quite well. I'm basically the same size as him, so all I'd need is a sword and warhammer.

Edit: Worst in the sense I'll never get to use it LARPing, man I'm gonna try it on sometime this week for kicks.

That's what armours good for. Softens the blows and make you look and feel badass.

It sounds fun and I would probably invest time and money if it but I don't have any friends that do it but if I knew someone who did I'd try it out.

1)My first LARP I only knew my former physics teacher, and he didn't come on the first day. However the people at every LARP I have gone to have been some of the nicest people. We are a small community, and we always love new faces.

2)All the LARPs I have done use a lightest touch system. Which means that you are not supposed to swing hard, and most of the time it isn't bad. Sometimes in cold weather during a really intense fight people will swing a bit harder. Byound that being outside and active really helps toughen you up. (I've learened I can sprint fairly quickly in 30pound armor)

I highly recomend looking up in google to see if any LARPs are near you.

The groups are just extremely solitary.
Once your in you can navigate around a bit, but actually finding them is the challenge.
Normally you just get introduced by someone else who was introduced by someone else

I watched the film Monster Camp, a documentary on the hobby, and my god does it look depressing and boring as hell. If it was like Role Models i'm sure more people would partake.
