Yes that would be against the rules. All of the combat is with weapons that must pass strict guidelines. A strike to the head is against the rules except with missile weapons. A strike to a limb disables the limb. Having 2 disabled limbs is death or a disabled torso is death. It is still a combat sport and accidents do happen though. The weapons may be made of foam but they can still hurt.OniaPL said:Just to make sure, what degree of "real" are we talking about? Is it outside the rules if I elbow someone in his teeth? Oh wow nice pic, and you are from Vermont. So I have to ask where do you go? I have said this a few times, but I am in MA. So kinda curious where you go to LARPZannah said:Look at my profile and take a guess![]()

Funny how LARPers can't strike the head with foam, but SCAdians can with rattan. Then again, LARPers probably don't have as strict armor requirements.Corum1134 said:Yes that would be against the rules. All of the combat is with weapons that must pass strict guidelines. that is a large reason. Insurance is another, most LARPs are very very poor, so safety takes priority over many things.Scars Unseen said:Funny how LARPers can't strike the head with foam, but SCAdians can with rattan. North East Victoria, there isn't too much here, and all the nerds are pretty quiet and more into gaming, I seemed to be the only one interested in LARPing (they all basically thought it was evil) so that was a pain in the ass. Still haven't really found anyone to LARP with, so yeah...StBishop said:Mind if I ask where abouts you are? I grew up in Far North Queensland which is pretty empty, but I was lucky, nerdiness was quite prolific in my year/grade throughout highschool.JemothSkarii said:I'd love to LARP, but I live in the country in Australia so it's pretty hard to find. Even then, disability kinda limits my options, could be a pretty decent mage though. That and nobody I've never met in Australia plays anything like DnD and the like, the only thing being available is 40k, and that's bloody expensive.
Not really on topic, but I do want to try it.
I don't/haven't LARP'd but I was going to with my old room mate. But for one reason or another each week we were busy. It's a little sad actually.
But yeah I would give it a go. I think I'd be a little put off by the Role Play, though the combat appeals to me.
That is awesome. I wish I could LARP in the summer, but the LARPs I know of stop for the summer.AfroNinja117 said:I've wanted to do it for some time, am hopefully this summer I'll join one.
I do have an awsome story a friend who does it told me: (note, the RP she does allows ressurection spells)
So this mage who just began roleplaying and was a very low level was surrounded by a group of enemies. Knowing fighting was futuile he ran as fast as he could, but the group behind him out manuvered him and flanked him from the side and the back. He cast a rez spell (note for those who don't know how spells work: you say the spell you want to cast and then throw a seed packet which represents the spell) Threw it straight upwards. After he was knocked down, the group of enemies dispersed. The spell then falls back down and lands on him, effectivly self rezzing himself, he ran off back to a friendly area, laughing the entire way.

Of course, there is the problem of me living in the "deep south", and by that I mean DEEP south
plus I'm in high school, pretty sure there has to be age limits on LARPing...
I'm sorry I have never heard of it. Please explain.Xanadu84 said:Every time theres a LARPing thread...I swear, am I the ONLY person here who does World of Darkness LARP? Cause it's still LARP, and its a very, very different beast.
Belegarth has no armour requirements at all. That is why we don't strike for the head.Scars Unseen said:Funny how LARPers can't strike the head with foam, but SCAdians can with rattan. I'm sure we will soon enough.Lalalarzi said:Ha! I was about to say something similar. Well... If you RPed with the majority being humans the burning would begin rather quickly if you went around saying "I'm a vampire!" First, you find the guy who is the most religious-crusader and you make him a vampire while loling at the cross that he thought would repel you.shreedder said:Kinda funny how two people mentioned vampire LARPs. I have never even seen a vampire in any of the LARPs that I play in.(from what I can tell their are vampires in two of them but they are very rare, and if you see one you are A) very evil, and powerful, or B)about to get rofl stomped.)
