Mass Effect.

The Mako was a pain, and the item management a tad ridiculous, but the characters and story are great! And... damn...creepy villain.

I just beat Chrono Trigger for the first time (please don't hit me).

Fucking loved it. I can't believe I didn't play this game before. I loved every minute of it.
Now go get all the secret endings! :p

Love that game! A timeless classic...
HELLZ yea! It is truly a game for the ages. More developers should use a combat system like that now in days.

Yeah, definitely! Basic ATB definitely needs to make a comeback, and the combo system can add so much depth. Easily my favorite combat system, and I'd really like to see more like it.

Fable 3. just beat it the other day. i really, really enjoyed it until about... an hour or so into being king. then the game just started getting lazy and feeling rushed. the final battle/boss fight in particular.

it was bad enough to make me want the final boss from fable 2 again. see wat i did thur? but no, the ending aside, it was a great game. im probably going to do a bad run (I played through as good but ended up not having enough money to save everyone, so now im going to be bad but save everyone) and i'll probably end up grabbing some more of its achievements.

The only issue I had with it was that in cutscenes the graphics on the characters were atrocious and just no fun to look at because of this I found the story line difficult to follow because I skipped cutscenes (it's that bad).

For those of you who like numbers slapped onto games I think this deserves an 8

If you got $30 to spare I suggest you run your arse to EB Games, Gamestop, GAME. etc. and buy this great game :)
This is the problem with sites like metacritic. People who really like the games give it a godly number, people who don't crank it down to nearly zero.

If you feel like the graphics were so bad during cutscenes that you couldn't even watch them, then the graphics during gameplay shouldn't be anything to write home about. Also, if a story is that terrible where it won't even keep you mildly interested in spite of the graphics, then that is a pretty lazy writing job.

With these glaring statements you presented, I don't understand how an 8 would be applicable to this game. Lets say you break it down to gameplay, story, graphics, characters/ai, and replayability (with gameplay being the most important and I assume you gave it a ten), then the game probably at most would get a seven. This is also with gameplay being counted twice. Also, worth noting that a seven is still a really good game. However, the 8, 9, and 10s people attach to games are just way to frequent and water down the great games while making it that anything with less seem shitty.

hard corps uprising.
such a awsome game
You JUST beat me to the punch. Awesome final boss fight section.

So, the last game I beat before Hard Corps was Portal 2. Funny game and plenty more easter eggs for me to find yet in that one. Brilliant ending and achievements.

I don't usually give numbers on games since they serve no purpose what a person wants to know (most of the time) is if the game is worth buying, renting or not getting. and then having different perspectives on that logic for example "were you ging to spend money on a game anyway?" or "do you have a tight budget and want to make sure you spend wisely?" Why I didn't put those in there I don't know, it was 2 in the morning so that's my lame excuse :). Thanks for the advice though :)
