Uncharted 3, I'm not even sure that the graphics were any better than their contemporaries (although the mo-cap is the best I'm aware of) but the colour palettes they used were incredibly refreshing and actually made me want to look around and take in the world.

Gotta go with Journey

If you can't(or won't) watch the whole thing then skip ahead to 3:50. It made my jaw drop when I first seen it.

What was the last game where you were genuinely impressed by the graphics? - to the point where they were almost the main reason you enjoyed the game (or reason you started playing in the first place). Or that they made you want to show the game to a friend.
This will sound kind of weird and cynical, but...every single time I get new glasses. Seriously.

(All you glasses wearing types out there, I know you know this is true!)
I get impressed by the world in general every time I clean my glasses

"My God, the colours, they stand out and aren't blocked by a hazy layer of dust and other crap!"

I really liked the graphics of Trine 2. Probably moreso because of the art style. Soooo pretty...!

Battlefield 3? Anyone? Anyone at all? No?
Oh! OH! MEMEME!

Graphically, yeah. That still blows my mind. It really adds to the intensity of it.

Art style wise, though, DE:HR may be my favorite from recent times.

This man speaks the truth. Everytime I get new glasses its like Blu Ray HD awesome opposum world for about a month. Then I grow bored of it but I could see a fly scratching his own balls I swear.

Now as for games... hmm Skyrim was pretty I suppose but I did play it on console so I didn't get the full effect. Playing BF3 on my friends mega computer on Ultra high settings was freaking breath taking. And call me weird but I love Wow's graphics, they will always stay in my heart. They just give me this warm nostalgic feeling

No Ace Combat 6? What is this? To this day the graphics Wow me.
I agree. Fires of Liberation was a fantastic looking game. For more recent games, the caves in Dear Esther were astounding, considering it's on the Source engine.

Probably Unreal Tournament 3. It's a really great engine... great graphics and will run really well on pretty weak hardware.

But, I really don't care about graphics anymore. All I ask is for HD resolution (720p and up), and that's basically impossible not to get in this day and age. I do most of my gaming on my PS3. The graphics on it certainly don't compare to most of its games' PC equivalents, but they still look great to me. The few PC games I do play, I play on my 15" Macbook Pro, and it handles everything to my satisfaction as well.

I think graphics are still improving. But, they've reached a point where the baseline is totally acceptable and still looks pretty damn good. It's a trend that makes gaming a lot more accessible. I still vividly remember the days of paying 700 dollars for a GPU alone just to be able to play the latest games. Now, I can get by just fine with a laptop...

Skyrim, but that's really only because I hadn't played many modern games (at all) for the past year prior to that. Standing on a mountain at night and viewing the rolling landscape was really breathtaking.

Also, Okami, but more because the actual -style- of the graphics was superb. It honestly felt like you were inside a painting for the whole game.

Last time I was truly blown away was with FFXIII. So what? Two years ago?
So far the games I've played have been more along the lines of "oh, well that's pretty." "Cool, shiny."

I have yet to play Journey, but everyone keeps telling me I'm gonna have my socks knocked off.

I played both Battlefield 3 and Skyrim in the course of a week, and only the latter impressed me. Sure war-torn ruins look nice, but there is so much fucking lens flare everywhere, it's damn annoying. Skyrim looks amazing, even on Med-Hi settings. The trees sway in the wind, you can see termites crawling on rotten logs, bugs fly through the air, and the mountains look unbelievable!

Twice this year.

Crysis 2 with official high def texture pack and the DX11 pack. At 1920x1080 with everything on full. It was almost photorealistic and with out doubt, the best graphics I have seen on any platform to date.

I finished Mirrors Edge this week, its graphics were also amazing. Not because they were good, thought they were, but the visual styling was and use of colour was just fantastic! The best looking DX9 game I've seen in an age.

Hmmm...probably Okami. "Realistic" graphics don't really impress me. I mean, yeah, they're impressive, but if I wanted to see realistic I'd look out the window. What impresses me is stylistic graphics, and Okami was a game that was just all sorts of beautiful.

This probably sounds absurd, but watching ice slowly melt into actual flowing water in Cryostasis was hugely impressive - probably due to novelty.

I've been continuously blown away by every single Gran Turismo game since the first. It easily gets my vote.

Serious Sam HD: First Encounter had such vibrant style that I could not help myself but be impressed!
