Now, I'm not going to make any assumptions - this might be a joke, might be satire and I have never seen Law & Order before.

But, this... is ridiculous.

Did you catch that? What do you think was the intent behind this episode? How could anyone have taken this seriously? How could they greenlight this?

If this is a joke, it's a damn good one. If not, we're doomed.

I know the episode is "inspired" by real instances of people becoming so addicted to games that they forgot about things like they're children, but this just shows how little respect there really is for the gaming industry.
"This is level 20!! This is the kingdom of Galgamar!!!" Whoever wrote this has obviously never actually played a game in their life and is writing this based on what little they've heard about them.

This is pretty normal for SVU. (The particular strain of Law and Order)

I don't think it's that bad to be honest.

It's not a joke.

Who is that Gamer Guy? He looks damn familiar!

It's so they can connect with the people who watch Law and Order anyway.

Calumon: That game looked terrible. :p

Well they can easily greenlight it as it sells, it is vaguely topical as people love to hate on video games and it has very little to do with actual gaming just rare extreme cases of addiction.

It's not the first time nor will it be the last.

just on SVU I think I can count off three different episodes about a video game being the central point of a murder case and it's always done in a manner that shows the production team knows little to nothing about these games.

As it stands It's nothing to get your panties in a bunch over.

Remember though, we are not this shows target audience, not by a long shot.
I don't know about that.
My friends and I have probably lost more hours of productivity to the non-stop marathons of Law & Order: SVU than we have to any one video game.

This is hilariously depressing.

'I haven't had sex in like.. Six months!!' Oh, stereotyping..
Well, at least it's quoteable as hell.

"Okay, pause the game!!!"

Seriously, I am just at a loss for words that someone could write this and then a team of editors said "Yes, this is greenlighted, great episode, here's your money". And then it was filmed.

Law & Order or not, this is an atrocity.

Heh, wow. This is the worst game I have seen in years, how old is the episode?

But now I want to know how the episode ended. Was the guy actually Mario in disguise and the girl the princess?

I hear that, I love SVU. As a gamer I don't feel very threatened by this, I think most people now have at least one relative who is a gamer, if not themselves.
Besides, I'm almost certain people like that actually exist, granted most of them are in Korea and they play Starcraft, but still.

I don't know what to say. "EverEarth" "Galagar's kingdom" Fairly sure these people have only ever seen maybe 5 minutes of Legend of Zelda and then based half of this on that, then just filled the rest in with worn out stereotypes.

It is a well known fact that the writers of all crime shows are phenomenally retarded but this is just sad.

I watch SVU sometimes, and I find segments like this kind of funny. I'm sure there are people out there who are as addicted to the online world as that Jeff guy is, but what caught me as over-the-top were the cheesy lines. "Plug us back in!" "Pause the game, man!" Just makes me grin.

How was that made? I felt the same thing after watching 'the happening.' How could someone do such a bad job writing something terrible and still get it filmed?

Can't say I was ever much of a L&O fan, but I can say I have far less chance of becoming one now.
