This is hilariously depressing.

'I haven't had sex in like.. Six months!!' Oh, stereotyping..
Well, at least it's quoteable as hell.

"Okay, pause the game!!!"

Seriously, I am just at a loss for words that someone could write this and then a team of editors said "Yes, this is greenlighted, great episode, here's your money". And then it was filmed.

Law & Order or not, this is an atrocity.
I am so using that in real life though. "Pause the game!"

I never really watch the show, but its quite annoying but its only a stereotype. I just hope people don't really think all people who play games are like that.

Its Law and Order. their "ripped from the headlines" story plots always are a little... off. Then again the video game thing isnt exactly central to the plot of that episode. The mother has Capgras and the stepfather is abusing the child... so yeah.

On the plus side, each of the show's writers probably drive, at the very least, a benz and live in a swank mansion with their very own man servant :)

I thought it was kind of hilarious. It proves that TV dialogue is just as bad as game dialogue, if not worse.

I love SVU, but I always find that when they deal with Video Games it's painful to watch. It's obvious that it's written by men that don't understand the culture at all, but I've seen it in a lot of other TV shows, too. Most TV writers don't know a thing about video games.

That is the most immature and ridiculous portrayal of gaming ever.

This caters to the stupidest fucking people on the planet anyways.

Child neglect due to videogame addiction is more common than you think. Every other day you hear about some sorry fuckhead who was so caught up in Warcraft that that they couldn't be arsed to feed or interact with their children--to the point of said child dying and rotting, and they assume the stench is coming from their shit-crusted gaming chair and thus ignore it.

I honestly don't understand why people expect an intelligent and thoughtful representation of any demographic from mainstream television. I don't mean to be elitist here, but I honestly think those disappointed forget that "Diamond in the rough" not only implies quality, but rarity. It's just another case where we're still looking for the diamond.

This Law and Order is the worst one. Always done in such horrible taste, and oh yeah the main characters are given free reign to express all the righteous indignation they could possibly muster. I hate it, it's like a show full of Horatio Crane.

I didn't think this portrayal was that bad. Although indeed they portrayed two gamers as unrepentant losers, it was clear that the video games didn't cause the problems but their mental illnesses did. Good job also making the crappy MMORPG look like a real crappy MMORPG. Most television video game portrayals show nothing but kids shooting up their schools with crappy graphics from the nineties.
Yea they don't really target gamer culture in general, it is mention has a particulary severe case of addiction not something that apply to all gamers (like some tv show did). Sure its written all wrong, but what can you expect from tv.

Considering the episode revolve around the capture of a child rapist and the culprit has nothing to do with games, I don't think gamers have it that bad.

Wow, that's just depressingly bad, couldn't watch more than a minute. Can't believe people still actually think gamers are like that.

I find it hard to believe that not one person on the Law and Order staff has played a video game within the last 15-20 years to tell the writers and producers that that's not how people talk. How hard is it to do five minutes research? ;/

People who take shows like L&O seriously are also ones who believe all police have labs like from CSI and NCIS. And thats worse.
