i agree,
OT: That was a bit far fetched I think

Of topic: On my bus I was sat between a guy called Jack and a guy called calumon!
Well I haven't rode on a bus in a fair few months so it wasn't me. If it was a fair few months ago then you're user name may be true. If you live in the midlands anyway.
Though probably not since that I and Calumon are one person.
Calumon: Am I really that big?

Actually, I would believe that there really are people that messed up and obsessed withe the Internet and gaming. ...not that it represents the norm, mind you.

I don't know if you people realize this or not, but law and order special victims unit is the funniest show on television in any country.

It always, without fail, takes itself completely seriously even when addressing issues and subjects neither its writers or actors know anything about (which is every episode). Its seriously the best written and performed satire on television. The best part it's primarily targeted demographics don't know at all.

So... laugh, because the only alternative is to get angry/depressed at how impossibly stupid every single solitary episode is.

Why don't you make inferences fur friend? Do all furries have to first ask their hive mind whether it insults (as another poster put it) their "collective persecution complex?"
First of all, I'm not a furry. And second of all, that is without a doubt one of the most bigoted and ignorant things I've ever heard on this website. Saying you want furries wiped from the earth for no other reason than they happen to like a certain subculture? There's something seriously wrong with you as a person if you genuinely believe that.

"Pause the game, I never raped anyone"

wat.

This is hilariously bad. I cant wait till the supreame court case because if we win, maybe they will finally stop making us look like a different species.

This is actually offensive to me. I know its suprising and most things like this on tv don't affect me but to say that this is how we look, talk and live is disgraceful.

AND its law and order! I hate that damn show!

The Doctor at the end did say that they were only neglecting the child because the mother suffered a brain injury.

It had nothing to do with games really, they were just a medium for both the man and the woman to get together.

That's how the TV show were able to get away with it; they gave the 'stereotypical' view of if you play games you're a lazy, neglecting, anti-social slob followed by a reasoned, educated argument which made a lot of sense and explained everything which typically 'brushes over' the entire case so they had no reason to blame games, yet still do

I LOVE Law & Order. With a passion. I think their shows are typically very well written, even though they're based off of true events. Sometimes it's a little exaggerated and silly (particularly in SVU) but hey, they can't all be gems.

As for the episode, it's just the same thing CSI (I think it was them) did with Furries. Generalizations up the arse.
Hu-whah?! How exactly did that fit in with the CSI team's regular hijinks?
You tell me!

I think that's it anyway, I didn't watch the episode itself.
See, I think this is a good example of why we should just calm down, ignore this SVU episode with maybe a slight chuckle of "Oh those silly non-gamers!" and move on. I'm sure more than a few of you watched that Furries episode clip and thought "Man, those guys are freaks!" I'm not a furry, but I think it pretty much shows that everything about perspective. YES, you can be a perfectly functioning human being that plays video games in his or her spare time. But you can also be an obsessive psychopath.

Same goes with furries, IMO. As much as you may hate to admit it, you can be a perfectly functioning human being that happens to like furry suits. Why should we be the ones to judge? There's always an extreme to every hobby. Long story short, Who cares if video games aren't accurately portrayed? Don't worry, we're getting there one step at a time. If you're worried about how this affects how the public views gaming, please. The people who think that this is an accurate portrayal already thought this way and are too closed minded to change their ways.

Because ALL gamers are fat, sweaty, addictive virgins who can't tell reality from fiction.

My favorite part is that Grissom constantly quotes Freud like Freud has any scientific or psychological relevance (besides historical significance) in modern psychological theories.

That's not that bad, did you guys ever see House's representation of video games? [http://kotaku.com/5370665/house-md-now-takes-place-in-a-wacky-video-game-future]. That shit was retarded.

Now, I'm not going to make any assumptions - this might be a joke, might be satire and I have never seen Law & Order before.

But, this... is ridiculous.

Did you catch that? What do you think was the intent behind this episode? How could anyone have taken this seriously? How could they greenlight this?

If this is a joke, it's a damn good one. If not, we're doomed.

I saw this episode. I'm pretty sure there ARE people like this, but nonetheless, that game looks like it sucks.

That's...funny?

Also, can't they use more convincing "footage" and "terminology" from games?

I don't want to drag this on because I can never precisely state how I feel and it is off topic. But I'll give you the benefit, and reply.

Did I ever say it was because furries belong to a certain subculture? Did I ever precisely call you a furry? Am I even serious with my original statement? No. It's because of overly sensitive reactions such as this, that gets under the skin of the internet.

I don't get take it to the gut or get butthurt when someone disapproves of my fetish of thigh high socks or orthodontic braces. Those things don't define me, I don't mind the insults. It's not like a sexual orientation, gender, religion, or race. Furry fandom is a subculture and paraphilia - nothing more.

There are subcultures and fetishes that I find much more disturbing. Infantilism, corophilia, voraphilia. But none of the practitioners who get turned on by that, seem to get as defensive as furries. The reason the internet doesn't target other groups as much as furries, is because other groups don't make themselves as big a target. Furries and fur allies aren't targeted because others find them disgusting, it's because of the self pitying persecution complex.

Gamers should take note and become less reactionary in media portrayals, it only feeds instigators like Fox News. However we should become more involved when legislation is on the table instead of spending all day complaining on forums.
