Hey guys, If you know League of Legends is then welcome to my thread, if you don't know. Go google it!

I just wanted to express my annoyance at this games current direction with their new champions. They are just going overboard with the 6300IP champions.

What do you guys think?

---For those who don't know------
IP: (influence points) is the in game currency which you earn, used to unlock champions and runes. - cannot unlock skins
RP: (Riot Points) is the other in-game currency which you have to buy. Also used to unlock everything IP can unlock plus Skins for your champions.

Recently, even tho the game is free to play, I feel like they are trying to force people to pay to get the "full" experience. I also feel that this tactic will hurt the newer players since they're pretty much never going to be able to afford all the champion with IP.

Who cares if it's 6.3K points. After all you CAN earn all those points yourself, AND you CAN choose to not spend money. The RP point system is just a short-cut for those who want to spend money.

Eh, it gets old, but I'm sitting on about 13k right now, had more but I got bored and bought a full set of red crit dmg runes. Do you know how hilarious it is to crit when you have those, 21 n offense, and an inf edge?

Yeah, point is though, they are pumping out 6300IP Champs like theres no tomorrow, the champions used to be priced between 400IP to 6300IP, now it's just 6300....

Yes, they do churn out champions at a predictable rate. I've been playing since Beta, and I bought the digital collectors pack. That being said, there are many, many champions I have not bought. Some I pick up when their IP cost drops, or when I can spare some accumulated IP. For example, I only just bought Pantheon last week, and prior to that, the last champion I bought with Riot points was Vayne.

Unless you're the OCD type, you should very quickly realise you don't need every champion they release every week.

It is rather ridiculous, but I share the same sentiment as this.

I do think that they shouldn't price all of their new champions so highly. Sure there are a couple released at a cheaper price but still...

It's a free game though, and I don't think it's something worth really complaining about considering you don't even have to pay real money for it. I don't really grind IP for champions, I just play, and happen to find my IP is high enough to buy something.

what i don't get sometimes is the fact that different champions cost different values although you must have all the characters balanced

While they must be balanced, they are not all equally easy to play?

They used to churn out cheaper Champs. Now all champs are 6300, while that IS true, they also keep lowering the price on "older" champs, in the end they profit a lot more and you don't really need every hero. Wait 1 week after the champ comes out, test it out on the free week and if it's really worth it then buy it.

I belive it's pretty much time to face the fact that all champions will be 6.3k IP. Normally, I'd be pissed, but they ARE lowering the prices of older champs and the last batch of price drops was on older 6.3k IP champs (Blitzcrank, Corki, Anivia). Also, thanks to champ rotations you get to play all the champs sooner or later and then buy the ones you really want. You don't need all the champions, you won't play all the champions all the time. Aside from compulsive need to catch them all, why bother?

Also, you're either playing the game a lot, in which case you have the IP for all the champs, or you play it casually, in which case you'd be better off training to get good with a smaller number of champs and you don't need all of them. Better to be good with a dozen champs than to suck with 50 of them...

I don't mind them being pricy at first. At least they don't have me insta-buying them, only to find out that said champion starts out as just plain horrible(release date Skarner and Yorick, or instance) and only get buffed later. I usually wait until they have their free week, try them out and THEN decide to farm up the IP for them. For instance, I used to want to buy Yorick, but at one point I tried out Galio and totally fell in love with him. Unless you have some weird case of OCD, you really don't need to buy them immediately.

You don't NEED to buy them all, I own a lot of champions, but I only play Kassadin.
On the other hand, I agree that makeing all new ones cost 6300 and reducing the price on the old champions is not the best idea.
"Gotta catch them all!" is the motto of a different type of games.

This pretty much.

Because Riot plays it safe with champion design many of them will overlap in their roles.

I'm not that bothered about the price of champions, it doesn't take much grind if any at all to get 6300 IP. It kinda sucks how you can't try champions before buying them, I just bought Swain but it was a complete gamble if I enjoyed him, luckily I do, but there's only so much a YouTube video can communicate; some champions look good but play like shit, eg LeBlanc. The only thing that really annoys me are runes, they cost too much, and it's fucking depressing buying them. It's like buying rings and necklaces on WoW, you know they'll make a difference but they change nothing visibly.

Basically i'm in line with what everyone else said.
You're never without a champion because every week there is a free champion rotation which allows you to learn the game, find a champion you enjoy playing and likely buy them before the week is over. If you can't afford the champion, what a wonderful time to learn a new champion. There is also a SLEW of really powerful champions for 400 ip. Learn one of them, play one of them. Accumulating IP isn't that hard. I've never paid a penny for the game and I just bought the new champion and I'm still sitting on 10k IP. Like it was already said; why do you have to buy every new champion the moment they come out?

while they did that they droped the IP on 3 6300 IP charters to 3150

There are less 6.3k IP people this week then last

They won't stop. Don't feed them money, wait for free week.
Older champs cheaper? So fucking what? So many other people already have them. At least they could have given some Ip back.
Money money money.
Fuck the old players. Get new people to spend mooooar! Yep 6300 for every new release should give them plenty of incentive.
Let's also base game balance on skin sales! Buff a champ and conveniently have a sale.

Forget champions, the runes are retardedly expensive. 6.3k for one page and then 12k+ to fill it.

Hon recently had a "player appreciation week", which was extended to almost a month. 67% off everything in the store. Plus decent deals all around.
Old players got everything for purchasing the game once, forever.

But apparently Riot are above all that. The success has gotten to their heads.
