League of Legends, how will you survive?

So what will happen to League of Legends in one or two years from now?

I think that they will either :
A. Rethink their economic system or
B. Roll over and die, with a bloated champion pool

I can already hear you spitting bile and other horrible things at your screen but hear me out.

League of Legends pops out every two weeks (or so) a new champion with a skin bundle, which is very good for their wallets.
The problem occurs that over time, how are they going to keep their game "balanced" when every other week a new guy has to sell to make profit and at same time not wreck the "balance" of the game. Only hick up is if the new guy doesn't "face roll" or is Under Power (see Yorick on release day) he will not sell well and will keep a bad reputation even after several buffs.
So they are pretty much obliged to morph their balanced system around the new guys, very good first week, after BRING IN THE NERF HAMMER.

Other thing i think they should stop doing is to stop balancing their game around the pubs, if they want a healthy competitive scene, but the pubies are Riots source of income sooooo hard choice.

Oh yes, one last thing, Riot is soooo hilarious when it is only at the end of Season 2 that they thought (while having the same kind of problems during the first) "Gosh, the Internet connexion is causing lag, hummm ooooh yeah there is a thing a think it is called Local Area Network, wonder what THAT is"

I know League of Legends will not die out any day soon but i am worried about their future if they keep this up.

Their solution to keep things kinda balanced seems to be to stick with similar skills for each type of champion. I doubt they will make the same errors at the next championship though, that was a rather big wakeup call for them.

I doubt it will die that fast, but it will probably change things around a bit sooner or later if they want the game to stay interesting.

Really, their only danger is their unsustainable business model (champions as the primary income.) If they want to keep champions and their skins as their primary income source, they either have to stop champ production for a while and try to find another source of income, or start separating champ generations into distinct pools, ala MTG. I'd think that having clear "competitive" champion rotations would solve their balance issues at a stroke.

There hasn't been an 'overpowered' champion on release in a while, the last one being Zyra and she was hotfixed rather than nerfed - her power was unintentional.

They have 'plans' for Season 3, so it's kind of foolhardy to call anything based on their current practices.

Rengar was an absolute beast, pretty much everything about him is getting nerfed.

As someone who played him as a main jungler for a while, I was literally laughing with the rest of my team that before each teamfight we all just selected an enemy to die before it, I'd ult in take them out and then the teamfight would start 4v5 every time. He had ridiculous burst along with a decent amount of sustain and stealth. I'm kind of sad it's going to be over as it was hilarious but at least you may be able to play him in ranked now.[hr]As for business model, I think we'll be seeing more legendary skins like Ezreal's, as that was expensive yet sold really well.

The business model will be pretty much the same since it works so well. I would love more (but not too many) skins like Pulsefire Ezreal. I just bought it and it's a beast!

Yeah I just looked at the new patch notes and so many things are getting nerfed for next to no reason, 'cept Rengar since he's OPOPOPOPOP! :D

Note that I don't care about the item nerfs. I never relied on Phage procs and never used or even bought DFG so meh.

Come on, did Ez's Essence Flux really have to be nerfed? I can't say it's even viable to bother putting points into it now. The AS debuff was the only thing going for it and they're removing it why? If you're going to do that make it do at least some noticable damage or just replace the skill entirely for god's sake.

I like how they're at least somewhat addressing the power creep of new vs old Champions by reworking them. Katarina and especially Eve as examples.

Not as many new Champions are as OP as people think. Kha Zix is solid but not gamebreaking in any way shape or form, he could possibly be considered ever so slightly underpowered in my opinion. Zyra wasn't that bad I think, Diana is perfectly balanced after they tweaked the AP ratio on Crescent Strike (which still chunks bitches to this day I might add)

I really want this damn Elise person. Wondered when a spider person would be released, you'd think spiders would be the one of the earliest things to come out of the Idea Bucket.

I'll continue to mispronounce her name as "Elsea" just for the fun of it kthx XD

I'm interested in the apparent Season 3 rework. Just how much are they changing anyway?

They are going to nee to find ways to change up the way the game plays if they plan on supporting the population they currently have. Summoner's Rift is fine and dandy for competitive games, but they need more variety than that and Dominion. Changing up Twisted Treeline and adding more playstyles and maps will go a long way in keeping the game from going stale I think.

I'm really looking forward to the new Twisted Treeline.

EDIT: Wait... is it out today!?

Beta for it should be out today, don't think it's going to replace the other 3v3 map just yet but it should be on the main client when it updates.

Well actually it was one of the first "scraped" heroes of LoL.

But my biggest problem I have with LoL is their crappy client, it takes forever to load and sadly the spectating mode doesn't work so great yet.

The thing about putting a champion out every two weeks forces them to mash up skills and sadly boring champs i think.
Maybe they will go the Dota2 way, HATS 4 EVERY 1 :D

Captcha: what is for dinner, well i don't know.

I am really excited to play tonight. My Tiger Udyr is going to roll some bitches. THIS is the kind of thing they need to consistently do to keep the game alive!

Ehh the client could be better yeah. Although if i had to pull some problems with LoL out of the air I wouldn't think of mentioning the client. It does sometimes randomly close for no reaon after a match but hey whatever.

Some people just have really, really bad computers I think. My terrible laptop loads quickly all the time and my laptop is so, so bad DX

Anyway more Beyond Legendary skins pls. RIOT PLS! Just don't make Pulsefire Everyone and it'll be awesome.

I still find the new people really cool and fun to play. Even if their skillkit is similar they still feel unique. Like Akali and Katarina. Both are teleporty, blade throwy, mark triggering for maximum damagey and have a spin. Akali is more of a composed assassin who kills someone, goes invisible, waits for a bit, kills someone else then runs off.

Katarina is basically Leeroy Jenkins. That is my professional diagnosis. A Leeroy with tons of damage but you need to be smart about when you jump into their entire team!

When it comes down to it, let's face it. Akali is just Easy Mode Katarina. It's the truth and you know it

Ezreal needed a nerf, yes. It still procs Trinity Force, it still gives the attack speed buff to all allies in its blast.

So yeah, it's still pretty good. It just makes trades less one sided for ezreal who already has a flash, an attack speed buff, and considerable burst and poke

Zyra and Diana were really OP on release. Kha'Zix is an amazing counterjungler, tho whether that remains viable in Season 3 has yet to be seen. Sona was too dominant. Jayce's poke was rediculous for what it costs. The nerfs have reasons and those reasons make total sense.

I really want this damn Elise person. Wondered when a spider person would be released, you'd think spiders would be the one of the earliest things to come out of the Idea Bucket.
It was, but they scrapped the idea very early. But they brought the idea back in now that they're using the Jayce-two-modes technology.

Jungle's getting a bit harder so it isn't as open to all champions, nor is it going to be a 'Buy HoG and PhiloStone for your gold like a support' situation like it gets in high ranked games.

Support itemization's getting improvements, and they're changing the goldscheme there somewhat, while still allowing for 0cs support to be a thing (kinda has to be, to be honest)

Diablo 3... every patch nerfs the best stat amazingly then raises the worst stat to become the best. So all that gear that was absolutley worthless becomes amazing and worth hundreds. Its another every person I know realized it and quit playing along with +50% of the original player base.
In other news, spending actual cash on the flavor of the month OP thing is a bad idea when that OP thing, being OP, is GOING to get nerfed and you KNOW it is because it's OP. Blizzard doesn't 'make things OP to stimulate the economy.' Players find the OP thing and exploit it until it necessitates the nerfbat.

The alternative is sitting with a thumb up your butt and ignoring the game's meta just because you're 'afraid of effecting the economy.' We have enough Korean MMOs doing that, and trust me... it's WAY WORSE.

You forgot option 3.

They are going to take an example from Blizzard, and balance the game entirely around F***ing over the player base and their wallets ever 2 weeks. They release a new hero make him OP, then the next week when no heroes are coming out they take the 5 lowest purchased heroes and make them the 5 best heroes but increase the cost to max cost. In actuality they are going to give heroes the same skills with different particle effects to every character and keep up the give our heroes 6 skills dichotomy.

It honestly doesn't matter every single person i know who played Lol has switched to DoTA 2, most of them even deleted the game from their computer. Though there are 2 people still playing and its because of some dumb girl so. 21/23 people i played lol with have already abandoned that sinking ship for the majestic cruise liner that is DoTA2.
I seriously dislike people who parrot this around, it is stupid and wrong and the people who parrot it without checking themselves are stupid and wrong. Yes they make mistakes, but the majority of the champions have no effect on the meta and are either balanced or require buffing.
If I have to I will go and list every champion that was either not nerfed or required buffs at release, and that number will be far higher than the number of champions that required nerfs. That I can guarantee. I'd do that just to get people to shut the hell up about their retarded conspiracy theories.
It's probably worth mentioning that your group of 20 friends does not the entire fanbase's opinion make. "All of my friends went to DotA 2" does not make a valid point make.

I don't mind the huge roster they have, I don't think it's unbalanced as Riot has managed to make each champion unique or at least they don't feel too similar to each other.

What I think they need, is that they should add some new modes, kinda like Dominion, something like CTF or anything. Summoner's Rift is fine and Dominion is great, but I'd just like to see more variety in gamemodes.

I do that as Veigar all the time

OT: The concept of microtransactions still doesn't make sense to me; I don't understand why people are willing to pay real money ($10 for the average skin isn't cheap either) for something that is only a minor cosmetic change for a single character : \
